Chapter 7: Chapter 7
"The improvement of soul power is limited by one's cultivation talent. Under equal talent conditions, it is further restricted by the quality of the martial spirit," Sasuke said to the group gathered around the campfire. "What I plan to do now is help you overcome these two limitations."
"Then what? How do we solve it?" Ling Yun asked impatiently. The moment he finished speaking, he accidentally bumped into Ye Ling'er's chest.
"Don't interrupt the teacher!" Ye Ling'er snapped angrily.
Ling Yun clutched his head, wailing in pain. "Damn it!"
"I have a 70% certainty," Sasuke continued. "I have some plans, but their overall success rate is only about 70%. In other words, you are the test subjects for these plans."
"Today, I plan to guide you in harnessing the power within the human body," Sasuke explained. "Soul power is a natural force. Soul masters have merely learned how to use it, but the inherent power within the human body is also vast and untapped."
"By cultivating both internal and external strength, you may be able to bridge the gap between yourselves and naturally gifted soul masters. More importantly, it could be the difference between life and death in battle," he added.
For the next three days, Sasuke subjected Ling Yun and the others to relentless physical training. At night, they meditated to enhance their soul power.
On the third day, Sasuke gathered everyone around in a circle.
"Sit down," he instructed. "Now, hold hands with the person next to you."
"Wait a minute!" Ye Ling'er suddenly stood up.
"What's wrong?" Sasuke asked.
Ye Ling'er turned to Ling Yun, who was sitting next to Sasuke. "You! Move over!"
Grumbling, Ling Yun switched places, nursing yet another bump on his head.
"You've been training intensely for three days. You should be familiar with the feeling of exhaustion," Sasuke said, glancing at their sweat-drenched faces. "Now, I want you to reach that same level of exhaustion through meditation. Focus on your body's changes—understand?"
Everyone nodded.
"Then let's begin."
Generating chakra requires a balanced combination of one's mental and physical energy, which is then guided into a new form of power. Once successfully generated, it can be cultivated and expanded through training.
The Sage of Six Paths had once given chakra to humanity, marking the beginning of the ninja era. Now, Sasuke was passing on that knowledge, transferring his chakra to Ling Yun and the others—planting the seed that would allow them to cultivate their own.
Their success, however, depended entirely on their comprehension.
As Sasuke watched the group meditate with intense concentration, he thought to himself, If I can't return home, then at least I'll leave something behind.
By the time morning arrived, only Mu Qing had managed to condense even a small amount of chakra.
"What?! I actually lost to Mu Qing?!" Ling Yun cried in frustration.
"Hahaha, how useless! And you're supposed to be our senior?" Ye Ling'er teased.
Mu Qing, still in disbelief, glanced at Sasuke. When he gave her a confirming nod, she jumped up in joy.
All her life, she had been labeled with words like useless martial soul, death omen, and bad luck. But for the first time, she had achieved something meaningful.
"You're not the only one struggling," Ling Yun muttered under his breath—only to earn yet another smack from Ye Ling'er.
"Condensing chakra is only the first step," Sasuke reminded them. "Learning how to use it properly is an entirely different matter. Now, continue your physical training. Focus on reaching your physical limit and blending your mind's power with the energy erupting from your body."
Three more days passed. One by one, Ling Yun, Ye Ling'er, Bai Cha, and Ling Xue successfully condensed chakra. To their surprise, they also discovered that training their mind and body together significantly enhanced their soul power cultivation—an unexpected bonus.
"Teacher, what do we learn next?" Ling Yun asked eagerly.
The others—Ye Ling'er, Bai Cha, Ling Xue, and Mu Qing—all turned to Sasuke with expectant eyes. To them, he was the gateway to a new world.
"Now that you've condensed chakra, you must learn to use ninjutsu," Sasuke explained. "You can think of it as a soul skill, but I prefer the term ninjutsu."
"How do we acquire these ninjutsu?" Ling Yun asked.
This time, Ye Ling'er didn't hit him—she was just as curious.
"Chakra doesn't remain in the body indefinitely," Sasuke explained. "If you neglect training, it will dissipate. Generating chakra consumes physical energy, and if you deplete your body's energy completely, you die. That's why proper control and distribution of chakra are crucial."
He then demonstrated the twelve basic hand seals and instructed them to memorize them during their meditation and training.
Day after day, they followed a strict regimen: exercise, chakra refinement, and meditation.
Once they could generate a considerable amount of chakra at will, Sasuke introduced the next step.
"The nature of your chakra determines the direction of your ninjutsu," he told them. "I can sense your chakra attributes—don't ask how, just listen. Bai Cha and Ling Xue, your chakra attribute is water. Ling Yun, yours is wind. Ye Ling'er, yours is lightning. Mu Qing, yours is fire."
He continued, "Now, I will teach each of you a basic ninjutsu corresponding to your attribute. Once you've mastered it, report back to me to receive a new technique."
"Wind Blade Technique? This looks underwhelming," Ling Yun muttered after watching Sasuke slice through a small tree with a wind blade.
"This is only the starting point, not the end," Sasuke replied. "Mastering ninjutsu isn't just about raw power—it's about how you use it."
To prove his point, he launched another Wind Blade.
A single gust of wind whooshed past Ling Yun's ear before splitting into dozens of smaller blades. In the blink of an eye, an entire patch of trees behind him was reduced to splinters.
Ling Yun stiffened as the memory of Sasuke's terrifying illusions resurfaced in his mind.
How could I have been foolish enough to complain?
