Soul Land - The Spirit of Heavenly Calamity (Fanfic)

"Hm..." At this moment a large tree trunk could be seen being carried by a black haired six-year-old boy on his shoulders with next to no effort at all. 

It's been about two days since Yu Zixing had taken the Mystic Water Pill and ever since then one could say that he had gained quite huge benefits from it.

First of all, it had completely cleansed his vessels and meridians of impurities and waste allowing him to fully awaken Innate Divine Strength which had been bestowed to him when his body was transformed the night prior to his Spirit Awakening. 

Now Yu Zixing's physical strength alone surpassed the power of his cultivation allowing him to carry boulders and tree trunks with not much effort at all.

Secondly was naturally the increase of his innate spirit rank... to Zixing's absolute surprise, his innate spirit rank had not been increased by simply one level... but by one and a half levels instead. Making it so that he now had an Innate Spirit Rank of 2.

Thirdly was the minor benefit to his mind. The morning after taking the pill, the black-haired boy felt as if his mind became somewhat clearer and refreshed. Resulting in his focus also becoming slightly sharper than before.

Simply put the Mystic Water Pill had bestowed Yu Zixing a great change in both his body as well as his current potential. What's more with the pill having nourished his meridians as well, there was no doubt that his future cultivation would become much easier compared to how it was originally meant to be.

"Alright... now time to chop them into firewood." Said Zixing upon placing the large tree trunk in front of his house.

As he grabbed his bottle of water, he suddenly spotted a pair of guards making their rounds while talking to each other.

"Hey, did you hear about young master Tianheng?"

"You mean how he awakened with Innate Full Spirit Power?"

"I know right?... Young master Tianheng sure is amazing... he's even better than young master Tianxin was at that age."

"Should we say it's to be expected of the Clan Master's direct Grandson?"

Gulp..Gulp..

"So I guess in this reality it's confirmed that Yu Tianheng awakened with Innate Full Spirit Power." Thought Zixing as he drank from his bottle of water.

"Hm?"

After the guards making their rounds left, Zixing suddenly saw Yu Tianxin rushing over to him with a net filled with dead chickens.

"Little Brother.. Little Brother.. look I managed to get more than I thought I would!... Hehe... looks like we'll be enjoying roasted chicken for the rest of the afternoon!" Said Yu Tianxin as he placed down the net filled with dead chickens in front of his brother with a slight smirk.

Yu Zixing(cold sweat): "Uh... brother... where exactly did you get so many chickens from?"

"Don't sweat the details... come I'll help you chop the firewood." Replied Yu Tianxin as he grabbed the wood chopping axe beside Zixing.

Suddenly... Zixing began hearing panicked voices from the distance.

"What happened to our chickens?!!"

"WHO THE HELL STOLE THEM DAMN IT!!"

"NOOOOO!!!... I fed those chickens my own personal spiritual herbs!"

"Hurry look for the culprit, they can't have gone far!!"

"Those sound like... the clan elders?" Thought Zixing as cold sweat dropped from the back of his head.

"Hmph!... Serves them right for badmouthing my little brother." Thought Yu Tianxin as he began chopping the wood.

As the two brothers were enjoying their roasted chicken, Yu Tianxin suddenly asked: "By the way little brother.. I haven't bothered to ask this before but.. how exactly is your body so strong when your cultivation is still so low?"

In truth Yu Zixing himself hadn't fully understood it either and as such simply replied: "Um... I think perhaps it was due to my Martial Soul's mutation?"

"Ah!... That's right I haven't seen your Martial Soul yet have I?!" Exclaimed Yu Tianxin as he realized.

Hearing his brother's words, Yu Zixing simply nodded as a purple symbol appeared on his forehead and a small purple ball-like creature popped out of his body.

"HAWA!" Sounded Hao Yue as he declared his arrival.

"Hm?... So this is your Martial Soul little brother?" Said Yu Tianxin as he began to examine Hao Yue floating in front of him.

"Hawala!!" Shouted Hao Yue as he demonstrated his abilities by circling around Yu Tianxin at great speed.

"Guh... Ugh... Not good I'm getting dizzy." Muttered Yu Tianxin as he was forced to sit down due to having watched Hao Yue constantly circle around him. 

Yu Zixing chuckled upon seeing this and said: "Alright Hao Yue... come back here before Brother Tianxin ends up throwing up."

"Hawala!" Sounded Hao Yue as he caught a roasted chicken leg with his mouth, as he returned to Zixing's side.

Seeing this Yu Tianxin couldn't help but say: "Woah!.. So not only does it have a consciousness, it can also eat normal food?"

"Yeah... I named him Hao Yue... you can consider him to be unique in many ways in fact." Said Yu Zixing as he took a bite out of a roasted chicken wing.

"Hmhm..." Sounded Hao Yue with a smug expression.

Yu Tianxin(cold sweat): "Well I sure haven't seen a Martial Soul like him before."

Yu Tianxin then asked: "Oh yeah... the Clan Master mentioned you'd be going to an Elementary Spirit Master Academy in a few months... do you know what kind of spirit master academy you'd be going to?"

"Actually... I haven't really thought much about it at all." Replied Zixing scratching the back of his head.

Yu Tianxin: "Then... how about you just come back with me to Thunder Spark Academy?"

Hearing Tianxin's words, Yu Zixing couldn't help but go into deep thought.

"Brother Tianxin probably asked me to go with him so that he can watch over me and prevent the Clan Elders from making things difficult for me... Especially since neither of us know what kind of Elementary Spirit Master Academy I'll be attending in a few months... He clearly just wants to look after me but..." Thought Yu Zixing as he turned towards Hao Yue munching on a chicken breast then continued his thoughts: "I don't think growing up under his protection would be the right path for me."

"Brother Tianxin... thank you but... I think I should follow my own path to becoming strong." Replied Yu Zixing with sincerity in his eyes.

"Eh?... Are you sure?" Asked Yu Tianxin with hesitant eyes while scratching his head.

Yu Zixing nodded saying: "I believe I can become strong by myself Brother."

Yu Tianxin: "....."

"Alright... then how about after lunch we spar again... I wanna see if you really are strong enough to keep yourself safe!" Said Yu Tianxin as he stood up stretching his arms and legs.

"Sure brother!" Replied Zixing as he wiped the oil from his mouth.

"Hawya!" Sounded Hao Yue signaling that he too was looking forward to their spar.

BANG!

"Guh!!" Yu Tianxin was instantly sent flying with next to no resistance at all.

Similar to their spar the other day, both brothers didn't use spirit power or their Martial Souls... just pure physical capabilities. Surprisingly the result of this spar was that Yu Tianxin had next to no ability to fight back at all.

Thanks to the Mystic Water Pill having cleansed his body of impurities allowing him to awaken Innate Divine Strength... coupled with the experience of being an elite mercenary in his previous life, the current Yu Zixing possessed combat efficiency far beyond those his age. So much so that a Yu Tianxin not using Spirit Power or his Martial Soul was no longer his match.

"Uh... Should we continue brother?" Asked Yu Zixing scratching his head. Now that he had a better understanding of his current strength, he naturally was able to better utilize his physical capabilities more efficiently thanks to his past life's experience.

"Ugh... no need... clearly... you're strong enough to keep yourself safe now." Replied Yu Tianxin as he stood up from the ground holding his belly that had just been struck.

Yu Zixing then helped up his brother while saying: "Next time... after I get my first spirit ring, how about we spar with everything we've got?... Spirit Power and all... What do you say brother?"

"Heh!... If we did spar like that, I don't think that you'll ever be able to beat me again." Replied Yu Tianxin with a slight smirk on his face. Clearly, he was confident in the power of his own cultivation.

After spending a bit more time with Yu Zixing, Yu Tianxin left with the promise that he'll once again visit his brother tomorrow after his training.

Upon waving goodbye to his elder half-brother, Yu Zixing furrowed his brows while sitting cross-legged atop his rundown house thinking: "I sensed it earlier... but there seems to be a faint energy within my body." 

Pop...

"Hawa?" Sounded Hao Yue after popping out of Zixing's body.

The black-haired boy then turned to his Martial Soul and inquired: "Hao Yue do you know where this energy in my body came from?"

"Hm... Hawawa..." Sounded Hao Yue as he pointed to the nearby chicken bones.

"You're saying it came from the chicken?... But then how... Ah!" Said Yu Zixing as he then remembered how one of the elders earlier said that he had fed the chickens spiritual herbs.

"Could it be... the energy from those herbs had been passed on to me when I ate the chicken?" Thought Zixing while scratching the back of his head.

"Hawala!" Sounded Hao Yue looking as if he was urging Zixing to do something.

Yu Zixing: "You want me to... absorb the energy?... How?"

Hao Yue: "Hawa!"

"Cultivate?... Uh?!!" It was here that Zixing realized he had not yet practiced any form of cultivation methods.

"Haa..." Remembering something the black-haired boy immediately closed his eyes and meditated as he began to focus on the set of knowledge given to him by Hao Yue a few days earlier.

Through this process Yu Zixing unconsciously entered his Spiritual Sea... once again he found himself in a large space covered in faint blue and purple twinkling lights.

Yu Zixing: "Hao Yue was right... it turns out I can enter my Spiritual Sea through this simple meditation method."

Pop...

"Ha!" With a flash of purple, Hao Yue instantly reappeared beside Zixing.

whoosh...

Suddenly... dozens upon dozens of illusory books began to surround Yu Zixing and Hao Yue as if jubilantly welcoming them.

Upon seeing these books Zixing instantly recognized every single one of them as the information within them were already part of his mind.

Yu Zixing: "So these are... the cultivation techniques you gave me huh?"

"Hmhm!" Replied Hao Yue with several nods.

The black-haired boy then waved his illusory hand towards the books and one by one the titles of the books began to appear.

Eternal Life Technique... Bamboo Sect Fighting Spirit... Cosmic Qi Manipulation... Heavenly Demon Art... Heavenly Heart Scripture...

Every single one of them cultivation techniques... all of them priceless treasures once introduced to the world.

Yu Zixing: "The cultivation techniques of Tang Jia San Shao's novels... from the information in my mind it seems most of them had been slightly altered in a way that now allows them to favor cultivating Spirit Power."

"Hm... If I want to properly absorb the energy within my body, I'd probably have to choose to practice one of these cultivation techniques. I wonder which one is most suitable for me?" Muttered Zixing as he continued to stare at the illusory books in front of him clearly unsure of which to choose.

"Perhaps... the method that's been practiced in this world is the safest choice." Thought Zixing as he was about to focus his consciousness towards the book that contained the Mysterious Heaven Skill cultivation method.

"Hawala!" Sounded Hao Yue as he pushed Zixing's illusory consciousness towards a different illusory book.

"Woah... Hao Yue what are you... Huh?" Before Zixing could say something to Hao Yue, he suddenly noticed the title of the illusory book in front of him.

"The Bridge Between Heaven & Earth?... Could it be that this book is..." Muttered Yu Zixing as he began to flip through the pages of this illusory book.

(SPOILERS!!!)During the events of Soul Land 4.5 several of the Douluo Divine Realm's God Kings came down to the Douluo Plane to teach at Shrek Academy due to their interest in this school that had at that point produced three generations of God Kings.

Among these God Kings that descended, one happens to be the Death God Ah Dai who unexpectedly ended up with Huo Yuhao and Tang Wutong's daughter Dai Ying as his first student.

Through great difficulty and unyielding willpower Dai Ying was able to merge the Mysterious Heaven Skill with Ah Dai's Eternal Life Technique by connecting two of her meridians along her spine creating a phenomenon known as the Bridge Between Heaven and Earth whereas her spirit power cultivated by the Mysterious Heaven Skill would be concentrated in her Lower Dantian while as the Vital Energy cultivated by the Eternal Life Technique would be concentrated in her Middle Dantian. Many of the readers at that time even referred to this practice method as forming two Quasi Soul Cores. 

The cultivation technique that Yu Zixing had chosen this time was exactly this very method.

At this moment Yu Zixing could be seen to be once again sitting cross-legged atop his rundown house... but now he seemed to be in a state of deep meditation. 

Faint energies of heaven and earth then began being absorbed into his lower and upper body respectively in a slow but harmonic pace.

Under normal circumstances it would've been impossible for Yu Zixing to cultivate this technique... however thanks to the changes bestowed to his body prior to his spirit awakening, some of his meridians were already connected along his spine allowing him the possibility to practice this method.

The only question now was... if whether or not his mental strength was strong enough to maintain the energies within his Lower and Middle Dantians.

"Guh..." Yu Zixing gritted his teeth while countless drops of sweat began to trickle down his body as he was doing his best to solidify his new cultivation technique. Must know that despite having high mental strength and willpower due to his experiences from his previous life, this was still his first time properly cultivating after all.

Green and blue flashes lit up from his lower and upper body respectively, signifying his efforts in stabilizing the energies within himself.

Just when it looked like he was on the verge of failing.... POP!

"Hawa!" Hao Yue suddenly came out of his body and laid down on top of his head.

The purple symbol once again appeared on Zixing's forehead as a faint purple energy shined from Hao Yue's body which then immediately transferred to Zixing.

It was then that the green and blue flashes throughout the black-haired boy's body began to calm down as if a wild storm had begun to dissipate.

After Half an Hour...

"Haa..." Exhaled Yu Zixing as he successfully memorized and perfectly circulated the energies of the Mysterious Heaven Skill in his Lower Dantian as well as the Eternal Life Technique in his Middle Dantian throughout his body.

When Zixing began to open his eyes, thin green and light blue colored auras lit up throughout his body for a brief moment as if signifying his minor breakthrough.

Indeed, his cultivation increased.... from Spirit Rank 2.... Yu Zixing was now at the peak of Spirit Rank 4!

With his eyes returning to calm, the black-haired boy couldn't help but sigh as he turned to Hao Yue floating beside him and say: "You've helped me once again... Thank you, Hao Yue."

"Haa!" Replied Hao Yue with a salute as if saying: "No problem brother!"

After stretching for a bit, Yu Zixing stood up from the roof of his rundown house thinking: "To think absorbing the energies within my body coupled with completing the Bridge Between Heaven & Earth would actually allow me to instantly breakthrough two spirit ranks. Now I'm but a step away from breaking through Spirit Rank 5... truly these have been quite the few days."

Must know that in just a few short days Yu Zixing went from having just half a spirit rank to the peak of Spirit Rank 4... If anybody had been able to witness the growth of his cultivation in these few days, least to say they would've definitely been surprised... after all since Zixing awakened with just half a spirit rank, that should've signified that his cultivation speed would be extremely slow.

Yu Zixing: "I still can't believe that this version of the Bridge Between Heaven & Earth could be practiced thanks to the changes to my body the night prior to my Spirit Awakening... I guess the pain and hardships I went through that night really wasn't for nothing at all."

"Hawawa!" Sounded Hao Yue as if saying: "I told you there'd be no problem at all!"

Yu Zixing: "Yeah but now...."

It was here that the black-haired boy immediately realized something.

Upon stabilizing the Bridge Between Heaven & Earth and creating balance between the merged Mysterious Heaven Skill and Eternal Life Technique, a broad range of new learnable skills and techniques had just opened for him.

With eagerness and excitement in his eyes, Yu Zixing couldn't help but turn to his Martial Soul once more and say: "Hao Yue... I think it's about time we started seriously training."

"Hawa!" Replied Hao Yue with the same eagerness in his tone.
