Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Blue Particles
The morning started like any other.
I woke up to the quiet warmth of the house, stretching my small limbs before slipping out of bed. The air smelled of something delicious, and I quickly followed the scent to the kitchen.
Mother had already prepared breakfast, setting the table while Father sat across from her, eating in silence. He didn't speak much during meals, but I was used to that by now.
I climbed into my seat, my small hands grabbing at the warm food in front of me. Breakfast was simple—rice, fish, and soup—but I enjoyed it. I ate happily, sneaking glances at my parents every now and then.
My mother smiled gently. "Eat slowly, Kyojin."
I nodded but continued eating just as quickly.
Father remained silent, his single arm moving steadily as he ate. His presence was strong, even when he wasn't saying anything.
After breakfast, my mother began cleaning while my father went outside to train. That meant I had free time to play.
And so, I wandered outside.
I played by myself, running through the small yard, climbing onto things I probably shouldn't. My energy seemed endless, my body always moving.
Then—I saw it.
Something blue.
At first, I thought it was just the sky, or maybe the way the sunlight reflected off the grass. But when I looked closer, I realized there were tiny blue particles floating in the air.
They were everywhere.
In the trees.
In the grass.
In the sky.
It was like the air was filled with small glowing specks, flickering in and out of sight.
I stared, confused. I had never seen them before. Had they always been there?
Slowly, I reached out.
My small fingers tried to grab the blue particles—but they slipped right through.
I frowned.
I tried again. And again.
Nothing.
The particles danced just beyond my grasp, almost like they were teasing me.
A determined look crossed my face.
I took off running.
I chased them through the yard, laughing as I jumped and reached, trying to catch the glowing specks. But no matter how fast I ran, no matter how high I jumped, they always remained out of reach.
Still, I didn't stop.
I ran and ran, spinning through the air, my small hands swiping at the uncatchable blue light.
The sun was starting to set.
I was tired.
I stumbled to a stop, breathing heavily, my tiny legs aching from all the running. The blue particles still floated around me, undisturbed by my endless attempts to catch them.
With a small yawn, I sat down under a tree, my back resting against the rough bark.
The blue light surrounded me, filling the air like tiny stars.
I blinked sleepily.
I would try again tomorrow…
As my eyes slowly closed, the last thing I saw was the soft blue glow drifting lazily through the air.
Later that evening, my mother stepped outside.
She found me curled up under the tree, fast asleep, the last remnants of daylight fading around me.
With a gentle smile, she bent down and carefully lifted me into her arms.
Holding me close, she carried me back inside, and the day quietly came to an end.
