Sous

Chapter 30: The Three G's Arc: Two

Sous jumped up into the air, shouting the fire spell at her enemy. Controlling the strength just right so that the spell didn't completely kill the enemy. She landed on her feet before swiftly turning to use another spell, the electricy spell towards another target. She felt something behind her and called on her wand to turn into a sword. With power, she turned and stabbed a young boy through the heart. Sous gritted her teeth as she watched the boy fall to the ground-dead. The boy then turned to dirt.

Gortrius clapped her hands two times to stop the session. It was Glinda who was spawning the enemies and innocent by standers with her wand. Gortrius walked to Sous.

Sous knelt forward and rested her hands on her knees, breathing heavy. Sweat dripped down her face, making droplets on the ground. Gladian walked to her and positioned Sous to stand up straight then moved Sous' arms to be above her head, allowing her lungs to be open to take in more hair. She coached Sous to take in small breaths.

"Sous, try not to use that sword spell, Gladius, its spell that you can't control." The wand turned back from the sword to the wand. "You're able to control the power and strength of your basic spells, that's good. When you use Gladius though at such close range, you're at risk of killing someone regardless of if they're an enemy or innocent."

Glinda stood up from the broken branch she was sitting on. The four of them were in the training fields, a field similar to the field Sous used to play and spar with her deceased friends across the tracks. They weren't the only ones there that day, other students with their coaches were as well and families too.

"We know that in Canas, each state and province and district follow their own laws but Nadia, we follow the law of the lead arch. If you kill someone, anyone, the hunters will come for you and you'll need to present your case to the council," Glinda informed Sous. "You have to be careful at the spells you use and the amount of power you give them."

Sous nodded her head, she then pulled out her stamina bottle and took a drink from it.

"Hoe do they know when someone just dies versus being killed?"

"All Nadian citizens have their spirits cataloged. When the spirit is reported to have left the body, the counter will come to confirm the death and investigate the cause of death," Gladian exclaimed.

They suggested for Sous to walk home as they cleaned up the spot they were training in. It was a breezy day so feeling the wind on her body especially her back felt comforting. She had drunk the potion thr sisters made from the ashes of her father a couple of days ago. It was mentioned the power up would happen when she needed it to happen the most. When she channeled all of her energy, all of her magic then the power up would take place. All Sous thought of was using it to defeat Doureena.

When she placed her hand on the door knob to the shop, she paused. She took a snif and glared. There was a wolf in her presence, from the Apex pack. She looked around, her fangs growing along with her claws. All she saw were people going on with their lives, children playing, pets barking or meowing. Maybe she was just tired. To her surprised, the three sisters were amazing fighters. The way they moved in the air and on the ground was a spectacle one would pay to see.

Sous closed the door behind her and took the stairs to her apartment to check in on her basilisk. She still hadn't named it yet. What was more important was how it was doing and it was healthy with Gladian saying it was going to hatch soon.

The door down stairs opened. "Sous! Help us clean up. Curtis is coming over soon. Bring out the potion from the lair, will ya!"

Down in the lair, Sous used a large scoop to scoop up the potion and poured them into a cup for Curtis. She walked back up stairs and gave the cup to Glinda. Sous began to clean with the others. Using her wand to lift things and put here and there.

Over by a book stand, there were rows of pictures frames. One of them fell and she walked to pick it up, she saw it was a picture of so many of the adults but younger. Sous smiled. There was her dad, Puimo, with his arm around Shadow, and around the waist of Gortrius, there was also Monica.

"What ya looking at?" Gladian asked. Sous held up the picture with all of them in it. Gladian laughed and took the picture. "Your father was such a stud. I don't never understood why he wanted to go back to Red Woods." Sous noticed her facial expression became sorrowful. "I miss him..." she said softly. Sous' began to water, but she blinked them away. "Do you still want to speak to a medium before Shadow comes to pick you up in several days?"

"My birthday will be coming soon. I'll be twelve."

Gladian's expression became excited. She jumped up and down, her bosoms doing the same in her outfit. "When do you turn?"

"Maius the 13th."

There was a knock on the door. Sous went over to answer it. It was Curtis who stood before her with three new bouquet of flowers. She smelt the scent and sniffed him. Once the smell made its way to her nostrils, she quickly looked up at him, with him looking down at her, smiling, his canines growing.

"HE'S A WOLF!"

The three sisters leaped forward but was met with bouquets being thrown at them, throwing off their sight. Sous jumped over the table towards the window. Curtis followed after her. Glinda pointed her wand at the window, opening it so Sous could easily jump through versus breaking the window which would have caused her to get hurt.

Once Sous went through the window, Glinda closed the window which caused the wolf to break through, getting shards of glass in his fur. He had fully transformed.

"What the hell!" Gortrius yelled. "How the fuck did we miss that?" She threw up her wand causing them to teleport outside. They searched around trying to see where Sous could have gone. With all the people on the street, it was hard for them to tell. What gave it away was the people running in the opposite direction.

The three sisters ran toward the commotion. They eventually saw Sous climb one of the buildings with her claws, running on the roofs as Curtis followed after her.

"She can't kill him, he's a Nadian," Glinda said. "SOUS! DO NOT KILL HIM!"

Her ears twitched in the direction of the sisters. She clenched her jaw when she heard that she was not to kill him. That meant he was a Nadian and some how was recruited by the Apex pack.

"Tsk!" This wasn't good if they were recruiting wolves.

Gladian pointed her wand to her feet, her broom appearing. She and her sisters rode their brooms like a human would ride a skateboard. Flying towards Sous who was still running away from Curtis.

Gortrius threw her wand up toward the sky. A cloud form, creating ice shards that she brought down on Curtis. The ice shards slammed into him. Pushing him to the ground.

Sous slid back and turned around, running toward Curtis on the roof top. She pointed her wand at him, "Ignis!"

Gortrius jumped off her broom and landed with both feet on the Curtis' head, slamming it into the concrete. When Glinda landed, she used her wand to pull up chains from the roof to engulf Curtis into a bind.

"Te ligamus, Curti, ne tibi noceas nec aliis malum facias..."

Sous walked to Curtis who was unable to move and who's energy was being drained by the binding spell.

"Who sent you?" Sous asked.

"You know who," he said, blood spilling from his cracked nose.

"We put a love spell on you. Who took it off, what magic? Wolves don't do much with magic."

"A potion from the elves."

"The Valley of Trey," Sous whispered. She clenched her fist. They were coming back for her and probably Shadow.

"Doureena, is so crazy. Is she trying to start a war?" Her wand pulled out a slip for Curtis to be sent away. "Curtis, what you did was treason."

"Lonely, lonely, that is you," started Glinda.

"Lonely, lonely, what shall you do?" Gortrius continued.

"For nothing but greed..." Gladian said.

"You gave up your freedom for thee," Glinda finished.

Curtis slowly began to disperse into particles as he went off to have his case heard and then sentenced. The three sisters looked at Sous, completely in awe she was wanted so badly by Apex, they would start a conflict between nations. They created an assassin from a Nadian citizen. They exchanged looks with one another. Curious to know just how far Doureena would take things and just how far would the lead arch allow things to go.

"I wanted to kill him," said Sous. She placed her wand in her pocket and walked toward the edge of the building.

Knowing how fast and fluent Sous was with her moves and spells, the sisters began to wonder if it was a wise idea to allow her to consume her father so as to tap and call upon his power when needed.

"Sous, Shadow says you're going to the Valley of Trey." Sous just nodded her head. "Icarus will accompany you. Go on to the store, Sous, we'll clean up here."

Sous nodded her head once more, jumping from the roof down below, the witches and wizards that had gathered around to witness the fight, talk amongst each other below.

"Why are the elves aligning themselves with the wolves of Red Woods?" Glinda asked.

"They can be Canas elves..."

"Come on, Gladian," Gortrius interrupted her sister. "You know the history of Apex. They 'bout pushed many species across the border to Nadia. Any elves left in that region of Canas is nothing short but a miracle."

Glinda placed her hands on her hips. "That goes back to my first question: why would the elves ally with their enemy?"

Sous walked to the guest room where she was staying. She sat upon her bed simply thinking of what the sisters said. Doureena starting a war between the nations all because of her. Because of Sous, a wolf who had absolutely no connection to Sous or Apex managed to be bought out and attack. That meant Apex knew more about her whereabouts than she thought and this also included Shadow more than likely. She looked at the egg on her desk-a knock came on the door frame. Sous looked up to see the three sisters standing in the opening of her door.

"Do you...think I should go back to Red Woods? They're after me after all."

"No." The three of them said at once. "You'll be attending Hacate and we'll be writing a report to the lead arch. Shadow couldn't do that because he's not a citizen. The most he can do is send in criminals to be given a case."

"Sous," Glinda began. "We may not be your family by blood but surely and slowly, you're building up your own pack."

Sous smiled at the three women before her. She nodded her head in agreement with their words. That's right. She was making her own pack.
