Chapter 18: This… was only the beginning
Azreal was flying toward the capital when he spotted a blue dome in the distance. However, it wasn't the capital—just another city within the country.
Looking at it, he thought, So, they already know I'm coming. Well, I didn't exactly hide my presence anyway.
After some time, he arrived above the city with the protective blue dome. Scanning it, he quickly realized that the dome was actually formed using Origin Core Energy. Somehow, the people of this world had managed to harness Origin Core Energy as a defense mechanism to protect their cities.
This discovery excited him. It meant that the people of this world had advanced to the point where they could refine Origin Core Energy and use it in different applications, almost like magic. This level of sophistication must have taken generations of research and development.
Azreal was thrilled. "
If they had discovered such unique ways to manipulate this energy, he, too, could learn from them. So far, he had only used Origin Core Energy to increase his strength and vitality. Even QiQi, his parasitic system, relied on knowledge and information to grow stronger. But now, he had an opportunity to explore entirely new applications."
After scanning the city for a few more minutes, he resumed his journey toward the capital.
Nearly an hour and a half later, he finally arrived.
The capital city was enormous—far larger than the city he had seen earlier. The architecture was a blend of Eastern and Western styles, incorporating advanced technology alongside traditional elements. It was a perfect fusion of their culture and progress.
Seeing this, Azreal felt even more intrigued. If they could use Origin Core Energy for defense, what else could they do? He noticed street lamps and even houses integrated with this energy. Though it was daytime and the street lamps weren't lit, he could already guess they used Origin Core Energy as their power source.
Approaching the blue dome covering the capital, Azreal's gaze shifted toward the grand palace at the center of the city.
The palace was massive, seemingly constructed from white marble, giving it a regal and imposing presence. A lush garden filled with beautiful flowers surrounded it, enhancing its majestic appearance.
His eyes, however, locked onto the tower at the heart of the palace.
Inside, he sensed a strong presence—the person with the highest concentration of Origin Core Energy in the entire city. But what intrigued him most was the small golden orb inside this person.
Interesting… Azreal thought. But to understand its true nature, I need to get closer.
Just then, the man inside the tower turned his gaze toward Azreal and spoke.
"I am Vargo III, King of this nation. What business do you have with my country?" His voice carried authority, yet there was a hint of caution in his tone.
Azreal sneered. "Oh, so you're the king? What business could I possibly have with you, other than to understand your power?"
The king frowned. "Understand my power?"
He immediately realized what this meant. This man… he's come here to fight me.
However, the king was not afraid. He was powerful, and even though this man was a Rank 6 Star Master, he had a secret trump card that no one knew about—one that could turn the tide of battle.
Azreal continued, "You see, King, I am Azreal. I came here to learn how you harness the power of Origin Core Energy and this so-called 'Star Master' system you people rely on."
The king's confusion deepened. Origin Core Energy? I've never heard of such a thing.
Still, he understood one thing clearly—this man wasn't interested in fighting his soldiers or anyone else. He was here specifically for him.
Realizing this, the king spoke, "So what if you've come to fight me? There's no reason for conflict between us. Why should I even entertain this battle?"
Azreal responded in a matter-of-fact tone, "You see, King of Rune County or whatever your land is called… I've come to kill you and become the new ruler of this County."
The king's expression darkened.
But why did Azreal want to become the ruler of this small country?
The answer was simple.
He lacked information. As a newcomer to this world, he needed knowledge. The king's memories would be filled with valuable insights. To gain access to them, he had to kill him.
He needed a foundation. If he was to rise in this world, he needed a legacy—an achievement that would put his name in history.
If people looked into his past and learned that he had slain a king, a Rank 6 Star Master, and taken control of an entire nation, it would make them think twice before challenging him.
This alone would deter any unnecessary enemies, allowing him to focus on research, unlocking the full potential of Origin Core Energy, and growing stronger.
This… was only the beginning.
