Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Blackbirds and Talks
[3rd POV]
'I can't tell if this is a mistake or not' An exasperated Gwen thought as she sat in one of the seats of the X-Men's jet, the Blackbird. The "Bird" itself was a decent piece of technology for it being 2008, and it was rather advanced for what it was.
The reason why Gwen was questioning whether or not it was a mistake, was due to the looks that Hank was giving her. The man had seemingly realized what she had meant by "Eyes that see farther than you think" and knew that she could quite literally see around the entire world with ease, and at all times.
She doubted the man would do anything, but she was sure she was going to be getting questioned later on, and that questioning would likely be rather irritating.
"So, Gwen, how old are you?" A voice cut Gwen out of her thoughts, as she turned to Jean.
"18, why?" Gwen asked, raising an eyebrow at the question as Jean looked slightly surprised.
"18, really? You look younger than me!" Jean exclaimed in surprise. She had thought Gwen was younger than her, as she did look like a teenager, a younger one at least.
"I can't tell if that is an insult or not" Gwen replied with a small pout. It was a fake one, of course.
"Not an insult, it's a compliment" Jean replied with a giggle, finding Gwen's reaction to be cute. The girls watched this with giggles of their own, as they also noticed the looks the others were giving Gwen.
"How is it that you knew those things about Max?" Xavier soon asked, as Gwen turned to him.
"I said that my eyes can see farther than you think, Charles. That includes seeing things that others cannot" Gwen replied simply, as Xaviers eyes widened in realization.
"Y-You can see the past" Xavier said, as the rest of the team's eyes widened.
Gwen smiled at the realization, as it was a rather funny sight seeing the usually calm bald man look shocked for once.
"Yep! And the future too if I want, but that's a pretty risky thing to do in a universe like this one" Gwen responded. As she didn't use her future sight in this world, mostly in fear of the effects that could have with the sort of entities that existed in this universe. Even now, she knew that there was at least a couple of them keeping an eye on Earth, but not her individually, as for whatever reason, the system was able to block that sort of thing.
"You can see the future? What is it like?" Jean asked, growing increasingly interested in Gwen and her background. The girl was noticing more and more of the unique aspects of Gwen, from her appearance, her secretive background, to her powers that seemingly let her see things that no one else could, not even her.
"The future is ever changing, red, so what I see is pretty random at moments. I won't tell you what I've seen, as that could cause some...problems, but trust me when I say it isn't all bad" Gwen responded after thinking of a response. She wasn't sure what sort of reaction the higher entities might have should she tell them anything important about the future, like Civil War, which Gwen was pretty sure would still happen in this universe.
Civil War was an...interesting topic in Gwen's eyes, mostly the second one. Civil War 2, from what she remembered, was...genuinely one of the most idiotic Superhero fights she had ever seen, all because of a foolish woman known as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. But that was something for the future, and not all that important to Gwen at the moment.
"Why can't you tell us what you have seen?" Scott couldn't help but ask. He didn't like that Jean was getting all buddy buddy with the new girl, but he was also admittedly interested in her background like the rest of them. Although this attraction and rather creepy love for Jean, was a bit...artificial. Something that Gwen had noticed, and decided she would take care of when she had the chance.
"Perhaps it is because if she told us, that future would no longer be ours, potentially making the future worse than it would have been should she not have told us?" Hank hypothesised as Gwen nodded.
"Yep, there are certain events and things that pretty much need to happen, otherwise a lot of people will either die, or won't grow into what they need to grow into" Gwen responded, as events like the death of Ben Parker HAD to happen, for this world needed Spiderman. Just as events like the one that gave birth to the Fantastic 4 and Doctor Doom, HAD to happen.
"Almost sounds like you are scared" Logan couldn't help but comment on the side, listening silently alongside Storm.
"Scared? No, there is nothing that scares me anymore. Cautious? Yes. There's beings out there that wouldn't be too happy with me telling people about things that are going to happen, and while I can't tell you about the future, that doesn't mean I myself can't change that future for the better" Gwen responded with an eye roll. As while she was cautious and didn't want to reveal the future that might await this universe, that didn't mean she wasn't going to make it better and change things.
She wasn't one of those wimp fanfic protagonists that sat on the side and just let everything go as it did in canon. She already planned on stopping certain tragedies and taking care of some less than...good people that were huge threats in the future.
The girls listened to Gwen silently, knowing from Gwen that this universe was far more dangerous than anything they had seen before, and her "Fear" was well placed, especially with the amount of entities that could genuinely kill Gwen. And while she could flee from them, that would only last for so long, unless she left to one of her previous universes.
"And what sort of changes are you going to make, with this knowledge you have?" Ororo asked on the side, looking to Gwen in interest.
"You know, the usual. Save some lives, beat up some bad guys, save the universe a few times, the world a dozen more times. No biggie" Gwen responded with a grin, as that was...a pretty accurate assessment of what she planned on doing.
As Gwen uttered these words, she blinked as a quest appeared in her vision.

[Due to the nature of this quest, it is an "Ongoing" one and can have new tasks added to it, allowing it to last much longer than a normal quest does. Each task is classified as it's own "Quest" thus are counted as such]
The quest itself wasn't difficult in the least, but it was also not all that rewarding for what it was. Which Gwen wasn't all that surprised about. At most, it would give her around 7-9 SSL tickets after completing all of these quests. She imagined there would be more quests coming around that would put this to a higher amount, but that was what she was getting from this quest.
'Not a bad quest, with my clones I am sure I can easily accomplish the first 10 tasks, but they'll take a bit, and I'll have to be very careful. I would rather not have to deal with HYDRA, SHIELD, AIM, The Hand, The Hellfire Club, and the many other secret organizations in this universe. Not right now at least' Gwne thought, before continuing her thought process.
'A few thousand clones should be enough to complete the first 10 quests in a couple of weeks at most. I'll just have to make sure they stay away from New York for now, focusing on other major cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and the like' Gwen thought, already planning on how to spread out her clones around the U.S. She would eventually spread them to other countries, but for now, she was sticking with the USA until she was a bit more sure of spreading them around.
Glancing out of the window of the plane, Gwen smiled as she looked downwards, Hank's voice breaking the silence.
"We've arrived. Welcome, Gwen, to...Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters"

That's the end of the chapter!
Basically just an intermission chapter before she officially gets to the school and meets some more important characters.
I've already decided on 1 love interest of my own choosing, whereas the other 1 or 2 will be chosen from what you guys picked (There was only really 3 to pick from, so I'll go with the one that works the best and is popular amongst you guys).
Not sure on the quality on this chapter, but I tried my best. I plan on reading some X-Men comics in order to get used to the personality of the characters, but for now, I'm gonna go back to bed.
Anyways, have a good day!
