Ethan cleared the dungeon at an impressive speed. By the time he returned home, it was barely past 3 p.m.

Luckily for him, the principal of Ravenshade's No. 3 Middle School wasn't home.

Not that Ethan had done anything wrong. The principal was fairly easy-going and never fussed over Ethan's daily expenses or whereabouts.

Still, Ethan had a reason for wanting to avoid him today.

It wasn't about his spending—it was about his summoned beast.

How could he explain that he was using a "Poisonous Fire Ant" as a summon? More importantly, how could he explain that it was constantly evolving?

In a typical beastmaster's journey, most summoned creatures reached their combat peak at the mature stage. After that, professionals would usually retire them and seek stronger summons. Even the few beasts with long-term potential rarely evolved more than once or twice.

But Ethan was anything but typical.

With his SSS-rank talent, he had no plans of revealing his trump card prematurely. He would keep the secret until the "Anti-Bone Boy" grew even stronger.

There was also another concern—he had excavated a monster nest. If word got out about it, he could land himself in serious trouble.

So with the house quiet and no one around, Ethan prepared to further evolve his summoned beast.

This time, he aimed big—using a gold-grade material to perform the alienation.

For beastmasters, silver-ranked materials were impressive but still somewhat reachable for talented newcomers. Gold-grade items, however, were on an entirely different level.

This was the height of what a novice could reasonably attain. Anything beyond that belonged to elite ranks.

Ethan activated his innate "Alienation Talent", placing the Anti-Bone Boy on the left side of the interface and selecting "Gold-Grade: Purple-Gold Bear Claw" on the right as the fusion material.

A prompt appeared:

"Notice: Initiating Infinite Alienation... Please choose one of the following evolutionary options."

a. Enchant mouthparts: Greatly enhance penetration ability.

b. Enhance foot strength: Stronger grip and body control.

c. Raise overall attributes and improve the bleeding effect of the 'Smash Bite' skill.

Ethan reviewed the options.

The first option would enhance the Anti-Bone Boy's jaw—a direct boost to its destructive capability. The metallic piercing effect likely came from the bear claw's penetrating nature.

The second option focused on enhancing leg strength—improving grip, making it harder for enemies to throw or dislodge the creature in combat. He recalled how the boss earlier tried frantically to throw off Anti-Bone Boy but had failed because of their strength disparity.

Still, he considered it again: Power isn't evenly distributed. Just because you have 200 points in strength doesn't mean your hands and feet perform equally. This was where skill came in. True warriors knew how to channel that power for maximum damage.

The third option offered balanced stat boosts, along with enhanced bleeding from the Smash Bite skill. That likely came from the passive bleeding trait of the Purple-Gold Bear.

But Ethan wasn't one for waiting around for an enemy to bleed out. Why make them suffer slowly when you could crush them instantly?

Between a slight durability improvement and enhanced damage, the choice was clear.

He selected Option A: Enchant mouthparts.

"Alienation Successful!"

"Bronze-rank Giant Vigorous Ant has advanced to Silver-rank Gold-Eating Ant."

"Stats increased: Strength +380, Constitution +80, Agility +50, Spirit +30, Penetration +60."

The result was spectacular.

Not only had Ethan successfully evolved the Anti-Bone Boy, but he also unlocked a major power spike.

There were no new skills granted by this alienation, but the creature's appearance underwent significant changes.

First, its body grew larger and more fearsome. The head increased in size—far beyond normal ant proportions—and the thorax and abdomen, once weak spots, had now become more compact and protected, a form of natural defense reinforcement.

The massive mandibles that once looked disproportionate were now perfectly balanced, sleeker, and glowing faintly with golden light.

What once looked like bulky pincers now resembled razor-sharp golden blades—less like jaws and more like giant metallic scissors.

Ethan summoned it out.

Boom.

The newly evolved creature thudded onto the floor. Its head was massive, but that only made it seem more dangerous.

Even the weight of its steps carried force.

Then the system displayed the updated stats:

Summoned Beast: Silver Rank Gold-Eating Ant

Level: Mature Stage | Lifespan Remaining: 8 Years

Strength: 923 (+923)

Constitution: 346 (+346)

Agility: 106 (+106)

Spirit: 60 (+60)

Special Attributes: Penetration +80 | Armor Penetration +20

Skills:

Giant Power (Green)

Smash Bite (Green)

Devour (Blue)

Combat Power Rating: 78 Stars

Because of Ethan's S-rank innate talent, all base stats were automatically doubled. This meant the newly evolved summon was a monstrous powerhouse with 78-star combat strength.

To put it in perspective: A standard level-20 S-rank professional might have around 200 attribute points naturally. With their own talent bonuses, they could push that to 400. If they had top-quality silver gear, their total might hit 1,000 attribute points.

This would give them around 30 stars of combat strength—an elite level for a rookie.

But Ethan's summon alone had more than double that.

And it had just entered the silver tier. There was still a long road ahead before it even approached gold rank.

Of course, combat stars weren't the only thing that mattered in battle—strategy, coordination, and skills still played vital roles—but the gap in raw numbers was undeniably massive.

Satisfied with the results, Ethan turned his attention to the Poisonous Fire Ant Queen, planning to strengthen it next.

But before he could proceed, his phone buzzed.

It was a message.

"Dad reached LV5 today! If I'd had a few more potions, I could've pushed to LV6!"

"Want to level with me later? I'll carry you. Let you witness the glory of my blade."

"You wouldn't believe how cool I looked cutting down those mobs!"

Ethan didn't even need to check the sender.

He already knew.

It was that guy.

Always full of bravado, always competitive—even if Ethan was just two levels behind, the guy would still brag endlessly.

He was the type to boast for ten minutes over one lucky crit.

Ethan chuckled and opened the stat panel again.

Without a word, he took a screenshot of his summon's 78-star combat rating.

Then he sent it.

No context. Just the raw number.

A few seconds passed before a reply popped up:

"!?"

Ethan grinned and leaned back.

Let the strong-mouthed king digest that for a while.
