SSS Ranked Reincarnation: Dark Dragon Legacy

Chapter 378: Elaine and White Fang

In an empty, vast, dry wasteland, with no life in sight, space distorted and twisted, and suddenly, two people appeared.

They both landed on the ground with a loud thud. It was Elaine and White Fang.

She had manipulated his present fate to change his location and use him to drag her along. That action caused both of them heavy backlash.

All of Fang's limbs were cut off badly, his entire body looked like mangled-up flesh, with blood pouring out in all directions.

His eyes were shut as though he was dead, and considering his state, being alive would be a miracle.

Elaine, on the other hand, was not hit as badly as Fang. She managed to get out with a few cuts and cracked bones, but that was all.

The reason she was able to do that was because she used Fang as the anchor for what she did, and he took the main brunt.

"Arggh!" She let out a pained groan and sat up. She looked at Fang beside her. "How long will it take for you to heal up?" she asked in a casual tone.

Fang groaned in response and didn't do anything more.

Even for someone that didn't die, the wounds he got were something out of this world.

Elaine sat beside him and watched him slowly heal up. His limbs grew back, every broken bone, every part of him was fixed.

He sat up slowly and stretched his body. "Arghhh, fuck," he cursed as he sat up.

"Though what you did hurt like hell, thank you. You managed to make us escape inevitable death," White Fang said.

"I didn't do it for you. If there was a way for me to do it without you, I would have," Elaine said.

"You think I don't know that? But it doesn't matter. I at least have a few more days added to my life because of you," White Fang said.

"I guess that's true. It's not like we will survive much longer, though. Everything has gone up in flames, and this time it's because of humans.

The status quo was fine. We had peace, everything was well, but the emperor just had to dip his hands into uncharted waters and cause this," Elaine said, her voice sounding angry.

"It's not time to be pointing fingers. Our world as we know it might soon cease to exist," White Fang said.

"I know. I've been thinking of how this situation could be better, but nothing has seemed reasonable," Elaine said.

"So what do we do now?" White Fang asked.

"I don't really know," Elaine said and got up. She walked a bit forward. "Silva has become the center of this all. The moment the seal opened, his fate lines latched onto every fate line. Your next chapter awaits on My Virtual Library Empire

He has become the anchor point, and not just an anchor point. I think the best thing we can do is find him. I don't know what we will do when we get there, but we have to find him," Elaine said.

"You'll have to go alone. I need to find my sister. Her original ability might be able to help us out," White Fang said.

"Or you just want to see her? There is a probability that the original families have been hit too and the demons have already taken them down.

How do you know she is still alive? She might be dead, sorry to say," Elaine said bluntly with a straight face.

"No, I'm sure she is still alive. Her ability is not just like any other. She possesses powerful reality manipulation. With that, she can help us battle the demons," White Fang said.

"Even with the ability to change reality and warp it, your sister can't stand against the beings that killed off the strongest demon king in a heartbeat.

Our best bets are to find Silva and to hide the world tree. Finding people now is not on our to-do list," Elaine said.

"I'm not doing that. I want to find her, and that's what I will do," White Fang said.

"You will do no such thing. I unraveled fate lines and manipulated them just so that we could escape and have a chance to save this world. Now you want to walk away to search for someone who might be dead?

Where is your will to serve, your obedience to the code? Where is it all?" she asked.

"There is no code anymore. If you have forgotten, all that died a minute ago in the place we almost died. I am grateful for what you have done and for saving me.

But for the last moments of my life, I want to spend it doing something that I want to do, not something I was obligated to do by some rules and regulations that no one knows who created," White Fang said and started walking.

Elaine was not sure what to do. She could understand why White Fang would react like this. He was feeling hopeless and tired, he wanted some sense of normalcy before he died in this collapsing world.

A part of her wanted to leave all this behind and just hide, but she knew that she would still end up dead. She would rather fight for a chance at a free future than just die.

"Fang, I know how you feel—your tiredness, your want to give up. Just a few moments ago, we stood as the most powerful beings, and now we have seen that we are not as great as it seems.

But that does not make us any less heroes and demon kings. We have the job to fight to the bitter end because as we fight, we are giving innocents a chance at life.

We are giving your sister the chance to be who she wants to be, and that's all because we fought. It is better to die with your sword raised up against your enemies than with your back to them.

I have no words to convince you, no promise, no nothing, only the pure intent in my heart to fix this before all comes to an end."
