Chapter 117 The library
Roman could see both of the chefs talking; he couldn't hear what they were saying, but he had an idea; since they didn't know a male was in the academy, of course, they would be surprised.
'Wow, this is delicious' Roman muttered in his head as he continued eating.
No matter what he ate in this world, it just tasted better in his mouth.
'Now I'll have to rethink everything since my roommate isn't someone that would cooperate, I have to find Reina's room, I'm sure where roommates would be someone good then I can bang both of them'
'Wait...why am I thinking like that, I can definitely pull the Firefrost girl, why do I want to avoid her, since she's a trained S-rank, I'm sure the increase in stats I'll get would be magnificent'
'But how do I go about seducing someone who hates me because she'll have no choice but to have sex with me, she clearly doesn't want to have sex with me, I'll start small and see, maybe sleep naked tonight, but my body isn't toned enough, I wish I had abs'
Roman head was filled with thoughts till he finished eating and returned the tray to the chef and the younger one collected the plate.
Roman thanked the chefs and walked out of the dining hall.
His next stop was the academy library. He had never seen a spell book before, and now was the time to finally get used to them; since he had a month, he'd need to learn spells that were easy to cast and wouldn't consume his Mana like his fireball.
When he reached the library, he pushed the big wooden door open and stepped inside.
The library was brighter than outside. Small glowing crystals were placed all over the ceiling and walls, filling the entire space with soft white light.
It wasn't like the Royal Library, which had tall shelves and three floors. This one only had a single floor, but it was much wider and felt more open.
Bookshelves stretched from wall to wall, filled with books of all sizes. Some shelves were lined neatly, while others looked like students had been digging through them recently.
There were long tables with chairs arranged for reading, and in the back corner, Roman could see more seats.
Right beside the entrance was a wide counter, and behind it sat a girl. Her face was completely hidden behind the book she was reading. She didn't even notice him come in.
Roman walked forward slowly, taking in the smell of ink and paper and he reached the counter without the girl ever knowing Roman was in front of her.
"Hello," Roman spoke, and the girl flinched before taking the book off her face as she heard his voice.
She had no idea it was a male speaking since there were enough males in the academy, but as soon as she took the book off her face and saw Roman, she immediately put the book back on her face.
'A child, is that a child...I didn't see her well but she looked like a child, but I can't see behind the counter'
"What are you doing here?" She asked in a childish voice.
'I was right, is she a child, or is she just small, I'm pretty sure she's the librarian so she isn't a child'
"I'm here to look for spell books; you're the librarian, right?" Roman asked just to be sure.
"I'm the librarian, and I'll ask again: what are you doing here? You can't be in the academy?" She spoke again.
"I'm a class 1 student, and the library is supposed to be open till evening. Am I too late?"
"You're a class 1 student! But you're a male?"
"Yes, I'm a male, and can you please look at me, why are you hiding your face behind a book?" Roman replied to her question with a question.
"I can't look at you; I prefer to talk this way...males can't be mages no matter their rank. Did you choose to be a mage?" She asked.
"Yes, I chose to be a mage, and I'm looking for spell books. Can you help me, or should I search myself?" Roman spoke, and the girl finally brought the book down and stopped so only her eyes and forehead could be seen.
"Wow, you're very handsome...I mean very... male-like...you can't get spell books," she finally spoke, putting the book over her face again.
"Why?"
"Classes are starting tomorrow; I was ordered to not let any class 1 student read any spell books," she replied.
"So if I were to try to read one, you would stop me; your face is behind a book; you wouldn't even know I'm moving," Roman said while moving away, but suddenly, someone grabbed his arm.
"I'll know," she spoke as Roman turned towards the person grabbing his hand, and it was Mira with green hair.
'How is she...'
[Illusion]
[Effect Negated]
Suddenly, Mira disintegrated and turned to dust, and Roman turned towards the girl.
"You broke through my illusion," she spoke as she dropped the book on her desk, and suddenly she fell backward.
*THUD!*
She landed on the ground with a thud, and Roman rushed to see if she was okay, but she immediately stood up and climbed onto the second chair there.
"How did you do that?" She asked.
"Are you okay?" Roman asked, but she didn't answer as she kept looking at his face, then his body, and then she climbed down from the chair.
The counter was higher than the ground, so she and Roman were the same height, but then she exited the counter and walked around till she was in front of Roman.
The top of her head barely reached his chest, and she had to tilt her chin up just to meet his eyes.
Her limbs were slim, almost delicate, and the oversized clothes she wore hung off one shoulder like it belonged to someone else. With her round cheeks, doe-like eyes, and a beautiful yet childish face, she looked like a middle schooler.
"How did you break through my illusion, I made sure your Mana is stable, and you shouldn't be able to break through it even if you knew it was an illusion"
"I'm S-rank" Roman spoke.
"Wait, you're the S-rank male, ohh that explains why you were allowed to become a mage, but still, my illusion is special, and just because you're S-rank doesn't mean you can break it? Do you even know when I cast the illusion?" She asked.
"I don't need to know, probably when you looked at me" Roman guessed.
Since he came, their eyes only met twice; the first time, she was in shock, so it wasn't that time, and the next time was when she looked at him while covering the rest of her face.
He has no idea if the illusion requires eye contact, so he just guessed.
"So you knew I cast an illusion and just went with it; I thought the S-rank male was a commoner; how did you get so good at magic, good enough to break my illusion?" She spoke with a glint in her face.
"You aren't covering your face anymore?" Roman asked.
"I don't like meeting new people, especially males, but I don't mind you," She spoke, still grinning from ear to ear.
'She's so tiny, but I'm pretty sure she's older than me; I wonder if she gets mistaken for a child all the time; why the hell am I thinking of having sex with her?' Roman spoke as he quickly slammed the thought.
"I'm Neia," she said suddenly, brushing her long bangs aside. "And don't ask how old I am—I'm twenty and I don't grow, I'm in class 3"
Roman raised his brows. "I wasn't going to ask, but… that explains the height."
Neia pouted. "It's a curse, literally. A growth curse placed on me by the divine being"
"Why would the divine being place a curse on you?"
"Because I don't believe in her, I never did since I was a child, If there truly was a divine being, she wouldn't let demons overrun the world," Neia spoke.
'I thought she was shy, maybe she was acting shy because I'm a male and there's no way she was cursed, oh fuck I can't turn off my thinking, why the hell am I imagining her with no clothes, she wearing oversized clothes for crying out loud'
"I was told not to allow any class 1 student near any spell book, but if you let me test one more spell on you, I might let you read one," She said, looking at Roman with that glint in her eyes.
"I want something else?" Roman replied.
"What do you want? I hope it's something I can give, if it's something I can't..."
"It's something you can do, not give" Roman replied.
"Hmm...okay, bend down so I can touch your head, I'm going to cast a powerful sleep spell, try to break it" Neia spoke as she touched Roman's head.
