Chapter 139 Binding Spell
The creature was a normal hawk he knew back on earth, but of course this was a world of magic and there was nothing normal.
The hawk first began flying around the building in a circle and soon Roman realized he was in the circle and the hawk was aiming for him.
The next moment the hawk swoop down towards him with breath taking speed.
It was so unexpected Roman wanted to back away but ended up missing a step and hitting his leg as he fell to the ground, but without missing a beat his hands covered his face and that was exactly where the hawk was aiming for.
With its talons, the hawk raked at Roman's arms, sharp claws scratching against his skin.
"Shit!" Roman cursed, rolling to the side on the sand. The hawk didn't stop—it flapped hard, circling back up into the air, then dove again, wings spread wide.
Roman barely raised his arm to block, feeling another sharp sting as the talons scraped his skin.
'It's actually attacking me… damn it, I should've known!'
The hawk screeched, wings beating hard, feathers whipping the air. Roman scrambled back, his hands sinking into the sand, breathing hard.
"Shit!" Roman cursed, stumbling back. The hawk flapped its wings hard, rose up, and swooped down again, aiming right for his face.
Roman ducked at the last second, the wind from its wings brushing his hair. His heart pounded in his chest so hard it hurt.
'Damn it… I can't cancel it… so I have to beat it myself! I have to shoot it down with a fireball'
The hawk circled above, screeching, and dived again. Roman rolled to the side, sand sticking to his sweaty skin.
The hawk shot past him, turned mid-air, and came back a third time, talons ready.
Roman grit his teeth, raised his hand quickly, and focused all the Mana he could gather.
[Fireball]
A small fireball burst from his hand, but it didn't hit it as the hawk dodged at the last second and then flew upward still circling Roman.
'Fireball is too slow to shoot the hawk down, ohh, then I'll use my fastest spell'
The hawk was finally ready and it swooped down aiming at Roman, he quickly positioned his hands and waited for the right moment.
[Arcane Spark]
The hawk couldn't dodge fast enough to avoid the spell.
The hawk screeched in pain, it's feathers smoking, and tumbled in the air before catching itself, now flying unevenly trying to balance it's in front of Roman.
Without thinking twice Roman closed the distance between the hawk and himself and the first thing that came to his head was a punch.
Roman's first hit the hawk and it tumbled to the ground rolling for some seconds before stopping.
Roman's chest burned from the quick cast, but he didn't stop. His eyes narrowed.
'Now!'
He raised his hand again, pushing Mana out, and shouted:
[Blood Bind]
A thin red blood shot from his palm, wrapping around the hawk's wings before tightening.
The hawk struggled, screeching and flapping wildly, but the bind held tight, the hawk crashed onto the sand, flapping helplessly, completely trapped.
Roman stood there breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his face, his arms stinging from the scratches and dripping blood, his [Blood Bind] spell was from this wound.
'I actually did it…'
He lowered his hand slowly, his heart still racing.
The hawk thrashed on the ground but couldn't break free from the blood bind, even though it was a basic spell and slow, it was unbreakable for a small creature.
Roman's breath came out ragged, but a small, tired grin formed on his face.
'It was stupid… but at least I won, so now how do I tame it, it doesn't look like it wanted to be tamed'
He wiped sweat from his forehead and looked at the hawk, still bound and glaring at him with sharp eyes.
'I haven't even learned a binding spells for taming summons, so how the hell do I go about this, it's still struggling, I should add another blood bind for protection'
[Blood Bind]
Roman stretched his hands as his blood wrapped around the hawk once again before solidifying then he sat on the ground in front of the hawk.
Roman sat down in front of the hawk, breathing heavily, his chest still rising and falling fast.
The hawk glared at him, wings twitching against the blood binds, its feathers ruffled and a little burnt from the [Arcane Spark].
Even though Roman freed it, it still wouldn't be able to fly correctly since he already injured the feathers.
'Damn… what do I do now? I can't just keep it like this… it'll die or starve, even if I let it go'
He wiped sweat from his face, smearing a bit of blood across his cheek without noticing. His arms still stung from the scratches, thin red lines with blood.
Roman stared at the hawk, its sharp eyes locked on him, unblinking. It looked angry, but also scared too.
'Without binding spell o can't do anything, and I'm sure it doesn't want to be my summon… I summoned it by force…so how do I make it listen'
Roman took a slow breath, calming his racing heart. His Mana still felt hot inside him, restless.
'Maybe… it understands I'm not trying to kill it?'
He lowered his hand, showing his empty palm.
"Hey… calm down," Roman muttered, his voice still rough from panting.
The hawk hissed—a rough, throaty sound—and tried to flap again, but the binds held firm.
'I'm talking to a bird'
"I'm not going to hurt you anymore. Just… calm down."
It didn't stop glaring, but at least it stopped struggling as much. Roman watched it closely.
'I need to tame it properly… but I don't have the spell for that, maybe the system can help me, system'

'I can't talk to the system, how is it going to help me'
The hawk tilted its head slightly, its sharp beak partly open as if breathing hard too. Roman couldn't help but feel a little sorry for it.
"I didn't mean to hurt you that bad," he said softly.
His Mana was low, but not empty. Roman knew if he released the binds, it might attack again… but part of him didn't want to keep it trapped forever, he was also hungry and dirty so he needed to take a bath.
'Do I try to release it? Or keep it like this? Damn… I wish I had more knowledge about summoning before doing this…'
Roman leaned back a little, still keeping his hand half-raised.
The hawk stopped moving, its head tilting again, sharp eyes still locked on him, but it had stopped struggling.
Roman looked at the red binds, his own blood hardened into magical chains, and let out a small sigh.
'I need to learn more about summoning… this was reckless. But… at least now I know I can fight my own summon if I have to, I just have to adjust the Mana'
His body felt heavy, arms sore, scratches burning, but he still smiled weakly.
'And… it was worth it to test my other spells.'
He wiped his face again, his breathing slower now, then kept watching the hawk, waiting to see if it would calm down… or try to escape again.
The hawk finally calm almost not moving with it's head down and a notification appeared in front of him.
[You have tamed a hawk]
[You aren't strong enough to give a name]
[You aren't bonded enough to use the skills]
Roman's tired eyes widened. 'I did it? But… how?'
He looked at the hawk, still wrapped tightly in his [Blood Bind] spell. It was breathing hard, but it had stopped fighting completely.
Then it clicked in his head.
'The [Blood Bind]... it isn't meant for taming, but it used my Mana. Maybe that worked like a binding spell… it forced a connection between us.'
Roman let out a slow breath, a weak smile forming on his lips.
"I see… so even though I didn't know the proper spell, my Mana acted like a bridge and I actually trapped it… that's why it worked."
The hawk lifted its head a little, its eyes calmer now. It didn't look friendly, but it also didn't look ready to tear his face off anymore.
'I actually tamed it… even if by accident. So my [Blood Bind] spell can act like binding magic… that's good to know, but I can't use it to tame bigger creatures'
He glanced at the hawk. "Guess you're stuck with me for now."
The hawk tilted its head slightly, feathers ruffling, but didn't hiss this time.
Roman's shoulders relaxed a little.
'This was reckless… but it worked. Next time, I should learn the actual binding spell first instead of trying my summoning…'
His Mana was nearly empty, his stomach growled quietly, and sweat still clung to his face. But a tired smile was on his lips.
