Chapter 190: Two Fire Wyverns
Growling in pain, Nix's eyes flashed dangerously. He retaliated as he used his [Ice Storm] skill.
The temperature of the battlefield plummeted as a vicious blizzard engulfed the snake, the ground turning into a frozen wasteland. The serpent thrashed violently as layers of ice formed on its body, restricting its movements.
Nix capitalized on the moment, rushing forward with his claws extended. With a mighty slash, he tore into the snake's side, leaving a deep wound.
The serpent screeched in fury, its tail whipping around to strike Nix. The impact was brutal, sending Nix skidding across the battlefield, but the dragon held his ground.
The snake's breathing had become ragged. It knew it was losing. Its body coiled tightly as its energy surged.
The blue snake's body trembled violently as the waterfall behind it began to spiral unnaturally. The creature activated its strongest ability—[Leviathan's Wrath].
The sky darkened as the waterfall morphed into a towering water dragon, its eyes glowing an eerie blue. With a deafening roar, the aquatic entity charged toward Nix, intending to swallow him whole.
Nix knew that he could only clash head-on with the snake. He then decided to use his [Ice Breath] skill, using most of his energy as he also wanted to end the battle right away.
Taking a deep breath, Nix's chest expanded as an overwhelming chill gathered within him. The air around him crystallized, frost spreading outward in jagged patterns. Then, with a mighty roar, he unleashed his [Ice Breath] skill.
A beam of pure, concentrated frost energy erupted from his maw, surging forward like a glacial storm. The temperature plummeted further, and the very air crackled with frozen energy as the icy torrent met the monstrous water dragon head-on.
The clash between water and ice created a deafening explosion of steam and mist. For a brief moment, the battlefield was shrouded in thick fog, obscuring everything from sight.
However, within the obscurity, Nix's breath relentlessly pushed forward, freezing the water dragon from the inside out.
Cracks formed along the watery beast's body, spreading like a spiderweb before it shattered into countless shards of frozen mist.
The blue snake recoiled in agony while it was still connected to its ultimate attack, its body rapidly freezing over as Nix's breath continued its merciless assault.
The serpent let out one final, pained screech as its entire form turned into an enormous ice sculpture.
Its once-lustrous blue scales were now encased in a thick layer of frost, its eyes frozen solid with an expression of terror.
A few seconds later, a deep creaking sound echoed through the battlefield as fractures formed across the snake's frozen body.
CRACK!
The enormous snake shattered into a thousand shards of ice, scattering across the frozen battlefield like glittering fragments of glass.
Nix exhaled sharply, his breath still misting from the sheer cold of his attack. He watched as the remnants of the sea serpent fell, his glowing eyes filled with dominance and triumph.
ROAR!
A victorious roar erupted from his throat, reverberating the surroundings.
Cain watched with a proud smile as Nix stood over his fallen opponent, the battlefield now a frozen wasteland.
"Well done, Nix," he praised with a smile.
Nix turned toward Cain as his expression filled with pride, before stomping over to his master's side.
Cain then patted his head warmly. "You're growing stronger with every battle. Keep it up."
[Ding! Nix has killed a High-level Dominator Rank Beast.]
[Ding! Nix's Experience at GrandLord Rank Beast has increased to 40%.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 9 million Evolution Points.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 200 Gacha Points.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 1x Random-level Summon Pool.]
Cain ignored the notifications as he thought that he needed to find a stronger beast for Nix after this when he noticed that Nix's experience only went up by 40%.
Subsequently, they depart from the frost wasteland as Cain intended to find the perfect beast for Nix that should've earned him a worth of 60% experience.
…
After looking for quite a while, Cain finally found a beast suitable for Nix's next opponent and immediately instructed Nix to head towards it.
However, there was a little problem that he needed to take care of as he detected another beast that was quite strong but shouldn't be a problem for his group.
1 kilometer ahead, inside a cave, Cain detected two Fire Wyvern, with one of them having reached Low-level Conqueror Rank Beast while the other had reached Peak-level Dominator Rank Beast.
Cain then instructed Fenix to accompany Nix and reminded him to take care of the strong one quickly without having too much fun.
Fenix immediately hovered in the sky, his crimson red flames flickering wildly as he looked down at the cave below.
The entrance was shrouded in darkness, but within, he sensed the presence of two powerful beasts. A smirk stretched across his face as he raised a single hand, flames swirling around his palm.
"Come out and play," Fenix muttered as he unleashed a scorching wave of fire toward the cave's entrance.
BOOM!
The impact shook the mountain, sending debris flying in all directions. The flames licked at the stone, heating the air as an enraged screech erupted from within the cavern. Two massive forms burst out, their wings unfurling as they roared furiously.
The first was the stronger of the two, an imposing Fire Wyvern with crimson scales, its eyes burning with molten fury. Its entire body radiated an intense heat, warping the air around it.
Even though the second wyvern is smaller, it was still as ferocious as the bigger one. Its scales were a deep ember red, and flames flickered at the edges of its wings.
Fenix crossed his arms as he tilted his head. "Ah, took you long enough."
The stronger Fire Wyvern let out a piercing screech and lunged at Fenix, its claws glowing with intense heat as it swept forward.
Fenix didn't move. His eyes gleamed with amusement, watching the incoming beast.
SHING!
In the blink of an eye, Fenix disappeared and reappeared above the wyvern, his crimson red flames igniting around his fist. With a casual motion, he struck downward.
BOOM!
The force sent the Fire Wyvern crashing into the ground below, its scales cracking upon impact. It writhed in pain, but before it could recover, Fenix raised a single finger, and an enormous crimson red flame erupted around the fallen beast.
Swoosh!
The flames coiled like a serpent, wrapping around the wyvern's body and devouring it whole.
The air hummed with intense heat as the wyvern let out a final screech before its body was reduced to nothing but smoldering ashes.
The weaker Fire Wyvern screeched in horror, its wings flaring as it backed away. Its eyes darted between the remains of its fallen kin and the unfazed Fenix.
Fenix let out a disappointed sigh. "Two moves? Tch, I was hoping for a bit more."
His gaze flickered toward Nix, who had been silently watching. "Alright, Nix, he's all yours. Have fun."
Without another word, Fenix spread his wings and took to the sky, watching the battle unfold from above.
The Fire Wyvern snarled, its body tensing as it took a defensive stance. Unlike its fallen companion, this one was not foolish enough to underestimate its enemy.
It knew that Nix was a genuine dragon. The raw power radiating from his body sent a primal warning through its instincts—this was a battle of equals even though his rank was higher than Nix.
The battlefield was silent for a brief moment, both beasts staring each other down. The air was thick with tension, anticipation crackling like lightning between them.
The Fire Wyvern struck first. With a powerful beat of its wings, it lunged forward, its claws blazing with molten fire. It slashed at Nix with lightning speed, the attack leaving streaks of flame in the air.
Nix reacted instantly, his own claws glowing with an icy blue light as he met the attack head-on. The collision sent shockwaves rippling outward, ice and fire clashing in a dazzling display of opposing forces.
Sparks and embers danced through the air as the wyvern roared, pushing against Nix with sheer brute strength. Nix snarled in return, his muscles coiling before he unleashed a powerful counterattack. With a forceful swipe, he knocked the Fire Wyvern backward, sending it skidding across the rocky terrain.
The wyvern barely had time to recover before Nix capitalized on the opening. He took a deep breath, his chest expanding as an icy mist swirled around his maw. Then, with a mighty roar, he unleashed his [Ice Breath] skill.
A torrent of freezing energy surged forward, the temperature of the battlefield dropping drastically. The Fire Wyvern flapped its wings frantically, leaping to the side just in time to evade the devastating attack. However, even the proximity to the blast was enough to leave patches of frost on its scales, the frigid air biting into its flesh.
The Fire Wyvern roared in defiance as it refused to back down. It retaliated by spewing a massive fireball from its jaws, the blazing sphere of destruction hurtling toward Nix at an alarming speed.
Nix narrowed his eyes but didn't retreat as he activated his [Frost Armor] skill, enveloping himself in a thick layer of crystalline ice. As the fireball struck, a powerful explosion erupted, sending flames licking across his body.
As the fire dissipated, Nix remained standing as his armor had absorbed most of the damage, even though cracks now ran along its surface. He then shook his body, causing shards of broken ice to scatter around him.
