Star Citizen Online: Isekai Edition

Chapter 135: Target Captured

It didn't take him a long time for Arcturus to regroup together with Zehal and Jeniael as they together addicted to the lowermost floors of the Arachnid Nest that were being wrecked apart by the Empyrean Power and also by the native beasts of the Ziras IV.

"How far are we from the central chamber where the Brain Bug and Pseudo Queen Bgu are located?"

This place was already complicated and big enough, so he would have preferred to get out of this place as soon as possible. After what has happened in this place after today, it was more than clear that the Arachnid Nest was destroyed because the bugs were on their last legs.

If it wasn't the Empyrean Power that destroyed the entire Arachnid Nest today, then it would be the local beasts that would come and finish the beasts. At the outside of the Arachnid Nest in the Frostearth Valley, several hundreds of Silver-Horned Tattooed Bears that were wreaking havoc and killing everything in their path.

"We are several floors apart from the central chamber."

Zehal stated that they started cutting through something that appeared to be doors made from biomass. Everhint in the Arachnid Nest was made from Biomatter, so even this basic act of cutting through it was rather hard.

"Dammed bugs... and their cursed Biomatter."

Arcturus was using Aetherius, as the Disintegration of the Power Weapon was destroying the Biomatter rather easily, but it was still an arduous process. Despite its fleshy appearance and everything, it required a lot of power to properly decompose through the flesh of the Biomatter.

"Well... the Arachnid Biomatter is known for being especially hard and tough, while also having regenerative properties which complicate the entire matter. According to my scouting bots, after this, there are only two similar defensive measures, and we are free to go."

Zehal stated that she had already long ago released her nanomachines into the Arachnid Nest as they were scouring through the entire Arachnid Nest, and they already knew of every single nook and cranny of the entire Arachnid Nest.

Nothing would escape the watchful eyes of the nanomachines that were monitoring everything in real-time. With that being said, Arcturus continued cutting through the Biomatter doors together with Jeniael, who was doing the exact same thing with the sword in her hand.

***

Meanwhile, the strike team from the Eternal Empire of the Asurya was attempting to cut through the doors and were achieving moderate success at the time, as the Biomatter that was in these parts of the Nest was much stronger.

When the Arachnids were building their Nests, they used various types of Biomatter for various purposes.

They use stronger or weaker types of Biomatter for different purposes; for example, if they were building just on upper floors, they would use the weaker Biomatter, and when they were building their defenses, they would use stronger Biomatter.

The bugs could also incorporate various elements into the Biomatter, like the one that was installed in all of the defenses, which made them resistant to the Disintegration of the Power Weapons.

The Brain Bug observed everything that was happening in the Arachnid Nest, albeit it was very hard. With the backslash that it suffered from the Psionic Energy that one of the Asurynai sent its way, the Brain Bug was barely conscious.

Not to mention, its power now was nonexistent, as it was forced to sacrifice all of its Psionic Energy and crippled its Psion Nuclei to remain conscious and in the control of the Bugs that were present.

At least within the central breeding chamber that was located on the lowest floor of the Arachnid Nest, there were still a few hundred bugs remaining. What was the bad news was the fact that only six of them were Praetorian Bugs, and the rest were Worker Bugs, Drone Bugs, and other types of bugs that were not really combat-oriented.

This was a serious problem for the Brain Bug, because now the only option that it had was to escape from the Arachnid Nest. Yet that would be highly improbable because there was only one escape route from the Arachnid Nest, and they were having many complications.

Not to mention escaping from the Nest under these circumstances without the protection detail would be hard. Transporting the Pseudo Queen Bug would be another challenge, but the Brain Bug still decided to go with the escape as there was no other choice.

The Empyrean Power was slowly devouring the entire upper floors of the Arachnid Nest and had already started spreading toward the Middle Floors of the Nest, and the situation was looking very bad.

And the beasts...

Suddenly the Brain Bug released a few incomprehensible screeching sounds as it started commanding the bugs to move its body and that of the Pseudo Queen Bug that was being encased in the biological exoskeletal cocoon.

Suddenly countless Worker Bugs and Drone Bugs started surrounding the Brain Bug that couldn't even move even an inch due to the injuries that it had suffered and also that of the Pseudo Queen Bug, as moving the cocoon took a lot of effort even for the Worker Bugs.

The Praetorian Bugs surrounded the Pseudo Queen Bug from all sides as they were her guardians and the other bugs went on the transportation of the more important bugs.

At the same time, the Worker Bugs and Drone Bugs were also taking some precious things from the Arachnid Nest, most importantly the Bio-Bank, which housed the DNA that the Arachnid Nest had gathered and served as the basis for all of the creation that happened in the Nest.

The Brain Bug came to the conclusion that as long as the Bio-Bank and a few other things were transported out of the Arachnid Nest, then it wouldn't be that problematic to create a new Nest in a safer place.

Fortunately, the bugs were ever-cautious, as they created an emergency exists from their Nest, in which they could evacuate from the Nest in the case of an apocalyptic scenario. Like this one, when the Brain Bug realized that the entire Arachnid Nest was already beyond redemption.

With the attacks of the Asuryni and the local beasts, together with that weird energy that was consuming the Nest from the inside, escape was the sole solution. However, what the Brain Bug didn't know, even if they escaped successfully, it would be futile, because something different was happening in the backround.

In the capital of the colony.

Ziria.

***

Ziria, Core Region of the City

The missions issued by the Directorate were never easy.

And most often, they ended in death or something even worse than death.

The Directorate of the Eternal Empire of the Asurya often handled the most problematic, challenging, and dangerous mission in the existence of the Empire, and they neutralized threats before they became threats.

Or they handled problems like this one.

Yet.

Even things like bug infestations or infiltrators from the other High-Level Civilizations and High-Level Star Nations were handled by the Directorate. Or the things that nobody else wanted to have anything with were given to the Directorate.

Within the office of the Colony Governor-General of the Ziras IV as he was briefing the man on the situation with the bugs when he made sure that the Colony Governor-General wasn't infected. If the Colony Governor-General was infected with the Arachnid, then this entire colony would be doomed, but at the same time, if that was the case, then Ziras IV would have fallen a long time ago.

And without any resistance, in fact.

Sometimes, Mercury, which was his Code Name within the Directorate, told himself that it was already time to retire from this mess, buy a nice mansion and territory in one of the Imperial Worlds, and just focus on cultivation and enjoy life.

Yet...

It was much easier said than done.

Based on the data that was transmitted to Agent Mercury from Zehal Alvix, he made sure to screen out the people who were tasked with putting an end to the bug infestation.

Thefas Farax was Governor-General of the Ziras IV colony since it was established, and this wasn't the first time that they faced an extinction-level threat because Ziras IV was on the hit, the planet's environment and it was also close to the Arachnid Territory.

Fighting was on a daily basis, and extinction-level threats were actually not anything new to the colony of the Ziras IV.

"We managed to construct the device that would be able to screen out the people that were infested with the Arachnids with this new method more effectively. According to everything that we learned, at least several high-ranking officers from the Colony Defense Forces have been infected with the Arachnids and areas controlled by the bugs. Including some people from the Administration Office and Communication Offices. Who has primary clearance access to the Planetary Defense Network on the orbit?"

Governor-General Thefas Farax exuded authority and discipline. His well-groomed appearance spoke of a lifetime spent in service, with sharp, piercing eyes that have seen both war and politics. His face was lined with age but not weakness, every wrinkle a testament to hard-earned wisdom and the burdens of leadership.

He wore a military-style uniform, impeccably pressed and adorned with subtle insignia, signifying his rank as the Governor-General and long years of command; before he was Governor-General of the Ziras IV, he served in the Imperial Military and led many successful campaigns against the Arachnids in the Solitas Star Domain and also against the Veren Republic deep in the south.

The uniform was as practical yet elegant as every single military uniform of the Eternal Empire of Asurya. His own was of a dark color, commanding tones with gold and silver trim and a high collar that added to his imposing presence.

"Then we should start preparing the strike force to deal with all of them. Nobody aside from me has Primary Clearance to Planetary Defense Network, but... if someone could access the Central Systems, they could gain partial access even with the Secondary Clearance; it should probably be enough to make some changes to the Planetary Defense Netrowk and incapacitate bits of it."

There were not many people within the entire colony that had the Secondary Clearance and it could be easily filtered out. Aside from the few people, the overall number of people with the Secondary Clearance was no more than five.

Yet if even a single one of them was compromised, it was terrible news for the entire colony.

"I will be taking my strike team and arresting everyone, and it would be for the best if you declared martial law and the emergency situation on the entire colony. We need to capture all of the infected, preferably alive at the time."

Agent Mercury of the Directorate stated that there was a rather long list of people who needed to be arrested and tested for the bug infestation. Fortunately enough, with the new data that were sent by the trio of the Highborne Asuryani youngsters, they could now detect the infested people.

Even with this new method.

Albeit, it was much harder to detect.

This new method that the Arachnids came up with were specifically designed to avoid the detection methods of the High-Level Star Nations and High-Level Civilizations and one could say that it even worked to a splendid degree.

"I have ordered to conduct the screening on the Colonial Defense Forces elite units; soon enough, they would be complete, and we could start the operation."

With just the strike team, it wasn't enough, as a project like this would require the cooperation of the Planetary Defense Forces.

Luckily enough, even the basic Planetary Defense Forces were as disciplined and trained like the trained forces of the Imperial Army so the process of the screening was very fast.

As they were talking, suddenly, the Agent Mercury got an incoming message from the trio of the Asurynai that he sent to the mission into the Arachnid Nest. The more he read from the message, the more satisfied he was because the apocalyptic scenario had passed, it seemed.

"The station has changed Governor-General. The trio of students from the Imperial Phoenix Military Academy that received the Imperial Conscription Order and was sent to the Arachnid Nest carried out the mission perfectly and managed to capture the Brain Bug and destroy the entire Nest."

Such unexpected development meant that they would need to cut open the Brain Bug as the first thing and then trace the Psionic Network of the Brain Bug's brain to the infected people within the colony and get all of them in one go.

"This is really splendid news..."

Once the Brain Bug was transported back to the Ziria, they could trace everyone who was infected by the Arachnids and capture all of them in one go and end the crisis of the entire colony in mere moments.

***

Around half an hours earlier

The entrance to the central chamber of the Arachnid Nest exploded as Arcturus and Jeniuael rushed inside, directly targeting the Praetorian Bugs that were protecting the Pseudo Queen Bug; as they unleased their strongest attacks that they could concentrate in their blades as they killed two Praetorian Bugs.

With two of the Praetorian Bugs killed, the remaining four screeched on them as they attacked two of them, only to be swarmed by the Zehal's nanomachines that started harassing them while Jeniael and Arcuturs immediately stabbed their swords into the heads of the Praetorian Bugs.

Soon enough, all six Praetorian Bugs were killed, and the remaining Worker Bugs and Drone Bugs were of zero importance. Neither of them was practically powerful, and with a single wave of Arcturus's sword, a whole bunch of them disintegrated in one move.

Same with Jenaiel, who was killing them in bunches, and soon enough, they were overwhelmed by their instincts and started running all over the place. Soon enough, the only things that remained were the Brain Bug and the Pseudo Queen Bug.

Neither of them was in a state of resistance.

"It's done."

Arcturus heard Jenaiel say because they had effectively won.

"Yeah, it's done."

Zehal then activated the Deus Technicus and controlled the nanomachines as they started to create a swarm surrounding the Brain Bug that was crippled and the Pseudo Queen Bug and lifting them as they would be taking with them.

The original plan was to kill the Brain Bug and only take its brain, but Zehal wanted to take everything with them.
