Chapter 27: The Promise

"But you need to know the truth, Bobo," she said quietly, almost like she was afraid someone might hear them. "Destroyer… he didn't just find you. He took you. He stole you. From the Galactic Federation."

Bobo blinked. "He… did?"

Lyra nodded slowly. "Do you know why?"

She reached out and gently tapped his chest. Right over the faint glow inside him. "Because of this. What's inside you."

Boboboy looked down at his chest. He could feel the strange warmth there like a tiny sun.

"That power," Lyra said, her voice growing darker, "is not normal. It's huge. Too strong. Dangerous. Destroyer wants it. He wants to use you — like a tool. Or a battery. For his wars."

Her eyes locked onto his. "And if he can't use it… he might try to take it."

She didn't say more, but her voice got cold. Boboboy understood the unspoken part: Even if it kills you.

He pulled his knees to his chest, suddenly cold. The night didn't feel peaceful anymore. It felt scary.

Lyra looked away, then back at him. Her voice turned bitter.

"And me?" she said. "He saved me too. From Recedation. It's… hard to explain.

She paused, then added in a flat tone: "But that doesn't mean I trust him."

Boboboy looked up at her, eyes wide.

Lyra leaned closer, speaking faster now. "We could run, Boboboy. You and me. We don't have to wait. Waffle is ready. We could leave this crew behind. Find a new place. A safe one."

Boboboy hesitated. "But… what if bad guys come? Like before?"

Lyra's smile returned. But it was different again. Not soft. Not sweet. This time it was slow… calculating. Her hand stayed on Recruiter, fingers curling around it like it gave her comfort.

"Oh, Boboboy," she said, her voice like a secret. "If you learn to use that power inside you… really use it? Not just the little lights or the floating tricks? You wouldn't need Destroyer. Or Bolo. Or anyone."

Her eyes glowed a little in the dark. "You could protect us. Or more. You could be stronger than all of them."

Then she did something strange. She held out her pinky.

"Promise me," she whispered. "We escape. We fly away. We become strong. Together."

Boboboy looked at her hand, then at her eyes. Something in her stare felt off. Not scary but not safe either. She wanted something. Badly.

But the thought of flying through the stars, just the two of them away from the noise, the danger, the confusion — it sounded wonderful.

Slowly, he wrapped his small pinky around hers.

"…Okay," he said quietly. "I promise. Together."

Lyra smiled.

Then in Jaya planet,

The forest was full of soft blue light. Leaves above them glowed faintly, like stars hiding in the trees. Strange bugs hummed and floated in the air, casting tiny glimmers across the mossy path.

Sakudara walked ahead, brushing a glowing fern aside with his hand. He had a playful grin on his face. "Careful, Share," he teased. "Step too hard, and the mud will eat your boot again."

Share rolled her eyes, hopping over a twisted root. "That was one time, Saku! And your boot got stuck twice as deep last week!"

They both laughed, the sound echoing lightly through the trees. The air smelled like sweet moss and spicefruit.

As they walked, they reached a thick patch of vines hanging down like curtains. Sakudara pushed them aside, revealing a hidden slope their hideout. A smooth metal hatch sat at the bottom, half-covered in moss.

"I never get tired of this place," Share said, smiling.

"Yeah," Sakudara nodded. "Feels like it's ours."
