Star Wars: Daimon's Story

Chapter 77: Abominor Superweapon

Over the next few months, the coalition saw firsthand the power of the Imperium. They were originally on the verge of collapse and had managed to only win a handful of victories before the Imperium even started invading the Abominor. Now with the Imperium, they were winning every battle that the Imperium participated in.

The cooperation between the Veldari Imperium and the Stellar Sovereignty Alliance rapidly turned into a formidable coalition. In joint war councils, Supreme Commander Marrek and the other Alliance leaders witnessed firsthand the power, discipline, and technological sophistication of the Imperium forces.

During these meetings, holographic battle replays showed Ascendant legions dismantling entire Abominor armies, Imperial fleets carving through enemy defenses, and Daimon himself obliterating fleets singlehandedly. Every delegate of the Alliance marveled at these displays, reinforcing their resolve to fight alongside the Imperium, acknowledging the strategic boon of their alliance.

In one council session aboard the Concordia, Technarch Nysar observed thoughtfully, "Our calculations predicted substantial losses in retaking systems like Krevix and Yalthis, yet with the Imperium's intervention, casualties were minimal. It appears your military capability far exceeds our estimations."

Daimon nodded, acknowledging the praise. "Efficiency and overwhelming force ensure minimal losses. The quicker the Abominor threat is eradicated, the faster peace can return to our territories."

The confidence of the Coalition soared as world after world fell swiftly under combined forces. Coalition forces, emboldened by the presence of the Imperium, undertook daring offensives previously deemed impossible. Yet even the best-prepared armies could still find themselves imperiled, as the Alliance soon discovered.

On the strategic world of Astaria, a fierce and pivotal battle was taking place. The Coalition, led personally by Supreme Commander Marrek, initially achieved success, pushing back Abominor forces. But the tide swiftly shifted when an Abominor superweapon, designated "Devastator-Class Titan," entered orbit, systematically annihilating Coalition ships and bombarding ground positions.

Trapped under relentless orbital strikes and waves of advanced droids, the Coalition lines wavered. Marrek, hunkered in a collapsing command center, broadcasted a desperate message: "Astaria's falling! Immediate support required!"

Hours later, Imperial fleets exited hyperspace, their massive numbers dwarfing the beleaguered Alliance fleet. Grand Admiral Caedus swiftly organized the defense, maneuvering Imperium dreadnoughts between the Coalition and the Titan.

"Engage the enemy and cover their retreat!" Caedus ordered as thousands of Imperium interceptors and bombers flew forth, their formations piercing through enemy lines.

Imperial capital ships formed a protective barrier, absorbing blows from the Titan while returning fire with overwhelming precision. Simultaneously, Daimon's personal flagship charged ahead, drawing the Titan's attention.

Standing upon his flagship's bridge, Daimon reached out with both hands, creating a colossal Force barrier that absorbed the Titan's attacks. Slowly, his barrier transformed into a massive vortex, redirecting the enemy's attack back upon itself. With a gesture, he hurled the destructive force at the Titan, causing a cataclysmic implosion that consumed the ship.

On Astaria's surface, Alliance forces watched in awe and relief as the orbital bombardment ceased. Coalition soldiers, battered but determined, rallied with renewed vigor. Supreme Commander Marrek, now safely evacuated aboard an Imperium shuttle, hailed Daimon directly: "Emperor, you saved our forces today. The Coalition owes you a debt we cannot soon repay."

In his head Daimon thought that the Coalition owed him a lot more as he has saved possibly millions of lives since he decided to cooperate with them. From the beginning he thought that they would be able to surround and push the Abominor back to their home planet, but as the months passed, he found out that if he didn't start invading the Abominor, then this coalition would have fallen in a few months. With him here however, that time has been extended by years.

"I can't have you dying on my hands Supreme Commander. We still have a war to fight." Daimon responded. Supreme Commander Marrek was the central piece of the alliance as he held together the many military forces of each Empire. If he were to die, then the coalition would either collapse or look to the Imperium for leadership. While he could do it, he didn't want to open up several more fronts and have to extend the number of systems he needed to protect. So, he wouldn't allow Marrek to die just yet, not until the war was over atleast.

Once Marrek was onboard, Daimon had sent him back to the surface with reinforcements. Participating in this battle would be 500 members of the Imperial Order, a sub order of the Balance Keepers. The Imperial Order's main purpose was to protect the Emperor and carry out his will. So, when Daimon ordered them to join the battle, they happily did it without question.

Alongside them were the Immortals and Imperial Marines. Once Supreme Commander Marrek landed on the surface with reinforcements, the Alliance soldiers cheered, bolstered by their newfound reinforcements. The Imperium banner was raised by several standard bearers which prompted the alliance soldiers to do the same and charge forward filled with a newfound resolve.

In a matter of hours, Astaria was once again secured for the Alliance and was added to the number of debts that they had. And Daimon was going to collect them at the end of the war to carve out a sizable territory within the Unknown Regions.

At the pace set by Daimon and the fleets of the Imperium, the frontlines of the war advanced, and many Abominor armies and fleets were destroyed wherever the wall of Veldari ships arrived. Every world falling to Imperial forces were either sterilized of all Abominor or rendered sterile by the orbital bombardments followed by ground invasion. The Abominor had calculated every ration of defense, attrition, and logistics until Daimon's campaign threw all equations into ruins, and the next best answer was simply the relentless defense of their remaining core.

While the rest of the Coalition took too many months to reclaim the space that was lost to them, the Imperial campaign finished most battles in days. On every planet that was occupied, Imperial flags waved, and slaves were freed from their gruesome oppression by the Abominor and would be integrated into Imperial society over the course of the next few centuries.

Meanwhile Marrek and the other Alliance leaders were starting to see just how superior the Imperium were and wondering what this would mean in the endgame. They didn't even know the full extent of the Imperium's power and were only seeing what Daimon allowed, which made them extremely cautious. But for now, they would keep that friendly demeanor until the war came to an end.

Daimon was aware of this but had no intention of starting yet another war. His interests would be met as he wasn't going to ask for sectors that were part of their territory, but sectors previously controlled by the Abominor.

Half a year into the campaign, with Abominor strategy crumbling, the Supreme Directive gambled everything on a single desperate move. For the first time in the war, the Abominor deployed their most dreaded weapon: The Prime Annihilator. Unlike the Devastator-class Titans, this was not a ship, or even a mere superweapon. It was a mobile planetoid, once a living world stripped of all organic life and rebuilt from the core outward into the ultimate machine of war. Whole continents of weapon emplacements and fabricator cathedrals, its surface filled with kinetic bombardment cannons and energy lances, its AI cortex deep inside. Some said the minds of millions, fused and rewritten, feeding the machine's infinite hunger for destruction.

Every Imperial and Coalition intelligence analyst drew the same conclusion simultaneously: the Abominor would not fight for territory, or glory, or even for survival. They would raze entire systems and erase organic life even if it meant their own extinction.

The strategos and admirals within the Coalition's high command met to respond. Daimon attended, once again making the journey to Concordia's War Bastion in orbit around Ashyr Prime, the Alliance's most populous refugee capital. The conference chamber was packed with every leader, military or political, whose fleet, world, or people had something left to lose.

Supreme Commander Marrek opened the meeting. "Our forces are positioned at the perimeter of the remaining Abominor core systems. The projected path of the Prime Annihilator brings it into our heartland within four weeks." He brought up a hologram. The Abominor superweapon was shown as a red sphere, trailing a vector that intersected several settled worlds, then arced straight for the Coalition's largest population center.

"From current intelligence, destruction of the Annihilator is the only viable solution. Evacuation and retreat is not—" Marrek paused, looking around the table. "It is simply not allowed to happen. The Sovereignty Alliance will make its stand at Ashyr Prime. The Varraxian Technocracy proposes a direct strike on the Annihilator's cortex. The Concordat proposes we lure it into a gravity well and unleash our entire arsenal at once. The Kalyndran Oracle… has her own thoughts."

High Oracle Seraphine lowered her eyes. "The Abominor have committed desecration against the Force, Emperor. Their weapon is not only a weapon but a converging, consuming void. To destroy it...will not just save us, but all within the region who still hold breath and thought. If there is any hope, it rests in one who can challenge the Prime Annihilator."

Marrek gave an uneasy glance toward Daimon. The alliance had watched the God-Emperor turn entire tides of war, but this was different. Daimon, however, folded his arms and kept quiet.

The technarch Nysar inclined his head. "The cortex is counter cyberlocked. Our probes barely transmit more than gamma noise before destruction. We would need a force capable of psychic penetration equal to the entire Kalyndran Oracle order."

"And a fleet to deliver it," gruffed Zal'Torak. "My kingdom's armada will fly point. Squad after squad if need be. We'll make them bleed…and keep bleeding until that machine is dragged to its knees." He fixed his eyes on Daimon. "If the Imperium can force the breach, as you did at Krevix, then we will follow through with the rest."

"I wouldn't worry about this Abominor weapon. I will take care of it, the rest of you proceed with the plans to start invading the core of the Abominor power." Daimon stated. Following this were a series of questions asking how the Imperium would take care of this superweapon. Daimon told them a half lie saying that the Imperium had a more powerful weapon which was true since he himself was a weapon.

The following days saw the Alliance prepare for their push, while Daimon took his fleet towards the Abominor superweapon. This would be the first time he used this technique and probably the only for a very long time that he would. It was because what he was about to do required an immense amount of Force power and concentration, but it was done before on a celestial body at least in cannon. All he needed to do was replicate it.
