Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Skill Test
"Ouch, that's kind of anti-climactic", Jayden lamented about the position he found himself in.
Three moves, that's all it took for Ayla to dismantle him.
Before teaching Jayden anything, Ayla wanted to test Jayden's capabilities, but they both forgot something.
Jayden has no idea how powerful she is. One can't estimate another's strength by looking at their age.
"Hehe", Ayla chuckled as she rubbed her neck in embarassment, "Sorry, I forgot that I am fighting a new Padawan, but this is also shows you that, even if you are the best among younglings, the ones you would face in the future they most likely would be better than you and can easily defeat you in seconds".
Jayden sighed but accepted the outcome.
No youngling can defeat him. Even a few padawans were defeated by him. It was kind of an Ego Boost. He needed to be humbled. If Ego crosses a certain level, it might cause him to lose his focus on training and might fall early.
So, it was for the best that this humiliating defeat happened. It would also clear any ego mist that might have begun to spread in his mind.
Also, since it was his own master who defeated him, he didn't feel humiliated, which might have opened other doors that are not good for growth.
They both looked at each other in embarrassment, one because she didn't control her strength and the other because he, who was hailed as a genius, lost in three moves.
Finally, Jayden spoke, "It's okay, master. I can consider this a class of humiliation, teaching me to be humble. There is always a bigger fish", even quoting Master Qui-Gon Jinn's favourite line.
Ayla, hearing those words, felt relaxed.
"Cough, remember to be humble always. As you said, there is always a bigger fish. So you need to be careful", she turned into a teacher and started teaching him using his own words.
Jayden just shook his head, sighing, but said nothing.
He understood that she was unique. If not, why would they have sent her away from Coruscant? Though she never said a word regarding that, he was sure that was the case.
He can estimate from the knowledge he gathered, and the subtle differences in how she talks, walks and even her robes.
They looked like any other Jedi Robes, but there were a few alterations.
He understood that he would most likely be sent to some faraway temple too. He was not bothered by that. In this way, his moves would not be under the scrutiny of the Jedi order. He would be free to do whatever he could, without their intervention, but before he left, there were a few things he needed to take care of.
Coruscant is, after all, the heart of the Republic, and if he wanted to change the Republic, he has to definitely do so in the main world. Without a change in Coruscant and a few other Inner Core worlds, changes in hundreds of worlds outside mean nothing in the end.
Getting cut off from the main world would cause issues for him, but Jayden thought of a few ways that remove those issues.
If the order sends him away from Coruscant, it might be for the better.
Here, he would be under the scrutiny of not only the Jedi Council but also of Palpatine. Once he catches any anomalies, he might try to eradicate them, which would mean that Jayden can't be in the Capital to actually grow his own forces.
His moves as a Jedi would be under watch, but that perk was only for someone who was deemed important, like the ones who stayed in the capital. Others were mostly ignored. As long as he doesn't cause many splashes, he will be out of the Sith's surveillance.
In the Republic, there are many criminal elements that he can use to enter the capital without being detected by the security forces. So, no need to worry about that fact until the Clone Wars start. Even then, the security was not top-notch, as many things passed through the Republic Space without the security knowing about that.
There was no need to worry about that. Before the Clone Wars start, he would be fully prepared.

With nothing to do about the Lightsaber Arts, Ayla asked, "Okay, next are force skills. Show me what you can do".
Jayden nodded and showed her the three force skills that he knows. These are simple skills.
The order doesn't teach the younglings other skills, because many are a burden on the mind of the force wielder. Most can be learned as one grows in age and increases their control over the Force.
Jayden showed her the three force skills that he knew, which impressed Ayla, because she never thought that her new padawan was truly a genius as advertised.
Seeing his skills, she clapped her hands in excitement, "That was very good", she praised him.
"Thank you, master", Jayden humbly accepted her praise.
"So, do you have any more talents to show?" she asked.
Unlike his Force Skills or Saber Arts, his talent in life skills was not famous. For Jedi, they are like a crutch, not something important.
"Yes, master", Jayden replied as he showed his Engineering and Programming skills.
Ayla was surprised by the fact.
"Wow, I didn't hear about this. Of course, the order doesn't care much about skills that have nothing to do with the Force. They speak that Force flows through everything, and everything in the galaxy is associated with the Force, but they don't act accordingly", she signed, thinking about her own interests, which were not something that Jedi accepted.
Ayla shook her head, "Anyway, that's all for today. I will make a plan for your training tonight. From morning, we are going to train according to the plan", she stated, to which Jayden nodded. He has no opposition.
It was already noon, and time for lunch. Starting the next morning felt the best way to start his Padawanship, "Is that the correct term?" he wondered, but that didn't stop him from naming the term as such.
Who could stop him?
He can call it whatever he wants it to be.
"See you in the morning, and before I forget, from tomorrow, you will be staying in different quarters. So, say bye to your friends", she spoke as she disappeared.
Jayden understood that the extra night might be something that she gave him on purpose, and for that, her image rose a little bit in his mind.
In the years here, he made a few friends. After today, he might not see them for a long time. Shaking his head, he went to the mess hall to fill his stomach.
