Stark Infinity

Chapter 6: Starktonium and New Arc Reactor

After entering the basement which had gotten filled with cobwebs since it had been a while since he ordered for a cleanup, Tony searched until he found what he was looking for.

A box that contained files and documents of his father.

"Research on unlimited energy?"

Briefly scanning through the notes, Tony saw that this was his father's research on the Tesseract.

The Tesseract was a containment vessel for one of the infinity stones. The space stone.

In the past the Tesseract was retrieved by Johann Schmidt, the leader of HYDRA, who used the Tesseract to power enhanced weaponry in order to defeat the Allies during World War II.

Following Schmidt's defeat at the hands of Captain America, the Tesseract fell into Arctic waters, where it was recovered by Howard Stark.

'Currently, I believe it should be in the custody of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Tony thought.

After that Tony found a harddrive and checked its content and just as he hoped, it contains the soft copy of all of his father's research!

'This, is surprising.'

'I wasn't expecting to be this lucky,' Tony was shocked.

Because this didn't only include his father's research on the new element, but also his father's recreation of the Super Soldier Serum!

The Super Soldier Serum was a chemical solution originally created by Abraham Erskine. The serum was formulated to enhance the human body and mind, and was intended to be utilized by the United States Armed Forces during World War II in order to transform Allied soldiers into super soldiers.

Captain America was the first and most successful creation of the SSR.

Using Stark Industries injection tubes and Vita Radiation to unlock the serum's potential, Erskine successfully used the serum on Steve Rogers, curing his ailments and increasing his physicality.

Unfortunately, Erskine was killed by Heinz Kruger who tried to steal the last vial of the serum but was stopped by Rogers.

Knowing that the only hope to recreate Erskine's formula was locked in Rogers' genetic code, the U.S. government took blood from Rogers, as the last remnants of the serum remained in Rogers' DNA.

Tony's father had access to all this information and was even part of the researchers who tried to reverse engineer the whole thing and moreover, he succeeded!

'Well, not really...'

Howard was yet to test his serum but even then he was 99.99% sure of success.

Only that on his way to reveal his work as planned, he was assassinated and the serum was stolen by Hydra.

This hard drive and the research papers that Stark found are the only ones in existence as no other copy was made and it was believed to be lost.

The box that contained it was only opened with a special password that Howard had told Tony before his death.

Luckily, Tony was able to clearly remember it.

"This saves me a lot of trouble hahaha! Yes!"

Tony was excited and even temporarily forgot about his priority of creating the new element and dived into his father's research on the Super Soldier Serum.

The more he read the more his eyes glowed and unknown to Stark he kept on it till read through every detail and by the time he was done it had been over twelve hours.

To his pleasant surprise he discovered that he not only remembers every detail, but he also comprehended and understood the entire thing as though he had been studying it all his life.

What was even more pleasant and also a bit scary was...

"I know how to make this serum much better."

"But I can't be sure. I would need to conduct a lot of experiments and I must also complete step 1 of my plan as soon as possible."

"Also.."

"Jarvis, place an order for chess burgers!"

"Right away, Sir. Would you like anything else?"

"Hmm, let's see..."

30 minutes later.

While munching on a delicious burger, Tony looked at the object on his worktable.

It was a model of the Stark Expo. A nearly forgotten legacy of his father. The purpose of the Stark Expo could be said to be noble.

Gathering the world's most intelligent minds and building and achieving great things with the help of technology.

Better living, robust health and for the first time in human history, the possibility of world peace, and so on.

Tony agreed with his father that it was a good thing to desire.

But then again, this is Marvel where any major advancement in technology can be turned into a villainous plot by some organizations or individuals with selfish and many times crazy goals.

So for now, Stark doesn't plan on relaunching the Stark Expo anytime soon. Besides that he also plans to keep his identity as a superhero hidden in the future unlike the original.

There are too many headaches that will come because of it, so it was better for it to remain secret to the public.

"Hmm, time to get to work."

Since he already knew exactly what to do. The rest was easy. Raising a holographic version of the Stark Expo Model, Tony gave a few instructions to Jarvis.

"What does this look like to you Jarvis?"

"Not unlike an atom?"

"Exactly. Now, highlight the hemisphere in the middle...good."

"Now let's see. Okay, remove all trees, gardens, pathways and the gates but leave the rest."

*String!*

"Done, Sir. If I may ask what are you trying to do Sir?"

"Well Jarvis, I am discovering a new element. Is what I'd love to say, but I am rediscovering a new element."

Tony then gave a few more instructions and boom.

He looked around him and smiled, "New element successfully rediscovered."

"Thanks dad..."

Tony felt somber for a split second.

"Alright, next step."

Stark didn't take a break as he had already ordered what he needed to make the small particle accelerator.

His father's original basement workshop became his new favourite experimental workshop.

It wasn't until morning the next day that he finished with the whole thing and just like with the suit, he was able to carry out a more perfect work.

With the newly upgraded arc reactor in hand, Tony wasted no time and installed the new one immediately.

Albeit with some difficulty but after some time the old one was placed in a container and locked away with his fingerprint.

The new arc reactor glowed in hid chest and Stark felt all of his drowsiness and weakness flush away as he shouted.

"Wow! That is powerful!"

"But..."

*Tam tam!*

"It does taste like coconut and metal..."

Jarvis promptly responded, "I don't think that should be your observation right now, Sir."

"You're right we will need to run some more tests."

'Anyway, I have taken a small step forward. But there is still a long way to go.'

"What would you like to call the new element Sir?"

"Starktonium. I'll call it Starktonium."

"That's an excellent name Sir."

"Thank you Jarvis."

"I'm in a good mood, get me some more chess burgers."

"Um, Sir. It may be advisable to take something more healthy."

"Yes..."

"So?"

"Cheeseburgers."
