Chapter 140: God of Destruction Jīn, Please Enlighten Me

Martinu also wore a kindly smile. "No need to be so formal—though it might still take a while! I heard your universe is still ranked fourth?"

"No, no… We're at the bottom!!" Cold sweat slid down Cognac's forehead. What a question to ask—seriously!

While the greetings on this side remained polite, from the ocean surfaced a creature that looked part sea monster and part fish—the God of Destruction of Universe 12, Jīn.

And with his appearance, all civility was thrown out the window as Quitela and Jīn immediately launched into a full-blown shouting match.

Quitela yelled, "You damn fish! I'm here to settle the score! This time I've brought a candidate even stronger than Beerus—my pride and joy!"

Jīn didn't even bother hiding his disdain. "Stronger than Beerus? You mean at bragging?"

"You hole-digging rat! You want me to dunk your mutt head into the ocean and make you drink your fill!?"

"Son of a— Jīn, you xxoooxxxx...!"

"Rotten rat... xxoooxxx...!"

Lin Qi watched the greetings and insults flying back and forth with great interest. Neither this angel nor this God of Destruction rang any bells...

Ah, right—he recalled that during the Tournament of Power, four universes had been exempt from erasure.

If he remembered correctly... Universes 1, 12, 5, and 8. No wonder he didn't recognize them!

After Martinu and Cognac wrapped up their friendly exchange, they walked over to stand beside Lin Qi.

The three of them silently watched Quitela and Jīn's extended verbal duel.

The war of words raged for a full three hours.

Eventually, it ended when Quitela's throat gave out—utterly defeated in the battle of banter.

"Lin Qi... see? That damn fish bullied me..." Quitela grabbed Lin Qi's sleeve with tearful eyes.

Lin Qi reached out and gave Quitela's mouse head a pat, then turned to Cognac and asked, "Are we going by the usual rules? Or just brawling?"

"Brawling! Beat that damn fish freak down!" Quitela said through a hoarse voice, clenching his fists in anger.

Despite his rasping voice, he didn't seem to care. Then, with an exaggeratedly innocent expression, he added cheekily:

"By the way... Lin Qi, did you bring anything to eat? Like boiled fish? Pickled fish? Spicy hot fish stew would do too..."

"You damn rat..." Jīn's face, already tinged bluish-green, turned even darker at the string of dish names. "All you care about is eating!"

"A God of Destruction who works this inefficiently!!"

With that, Jīn hurled a furious punch at Quitela's chest. But Lin Qi instantly shifted into Super Saiyan 5 and blocked the blow.

The sheer force of the punch stirred up a violent gale, sending massive waves crashing over the nearby sea.

Quitela collapsed dramatically at Lin Qi's feet in a pose that resembled a fainting concubine—utterly... undignified.

His stubby legs crossed tightly as he lay with one hand bracing the ground and the other clutching his chest. "Ah... I think I'm dying!!"

With a look of pure grief, he stared up at Lin Qi's towering back. "Lin Qi, you must avenge me!!"

"...Should I report this to the Grand Priest instead?" Martinu asked, the corner of his mouth twitching.

Cognac sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Lord Quitela, that was just Jīn releasing his energy... You're blowing this way out of proportion."

"No! Tolerance isn't one of my virtues. I want Lin Qi to smash that fish head to pieces!" Quitela jumped up and dusted himself off.

"You're insane!" Jīn exhaled slowly, trying hard to suppress his urge to punch Quitela.

"You're so free, why not stay in your own universe and do your damn job properly?"

But Quitela didn't care at all. His head popped out from behind Lin Qi's back, and he made a face at Jīn.

"A plan doesn't need to be deep, as long as it works; a trick doesn't need to be clever, as long as it pisses you off!"

"Enough already..." Lin Qi shoved Quitela's head back down. "Lord Quitela, you're getting more and more unruly."

Martinu gave Cognac a sympathetic look. "Has your apprentice always been like this?"

"It's hard to explain!" Cognac didn't elaborate. What was the point in saying more?

"Beat him, Lin Qi!" Quitela stopped playing around and stepped back to give them space.

At the seashore, Lin Qi and God of Destruction Jīn faced each other from a distance. The falling seawater above began to settle.

"I'm Lin Qi, candidate for God of Destruction of Universe 4," Lin Qi said with a slight bow, introducing himself calmly.

Jīn didn't respond with anything dramatic. He just scanned Lin Qi from top to bottom, then gave a satisfied nod. "Rat, you did find yourself a decent candidate."

"Please, enlighten me." Lin Qi took a fighting stance, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly.

He wondered—what kind of strength would a God of Destruction from a high-ranked universe possess?

Jīn extended one hand and twisted his foot slightly, declining Lin Qi's request. "Your strength might already exceed mine. There's nothing I can teach you."

Super Saiyan 5 was already stronger than Jīn? Then Jīn's combat power was likely similar to Quitela's...

Sigh, finding a worthy opponent was truly difficult!

It's all that damn cat Beerus's fault—why did he have to stay asleep!?

"Here I come!" Jīn moved with dazzling speed, lunging toward the distracted Lin Qi with a single step.

Lin Qi's expression sharpened, and his ghost-like form twisted to block Jīn's punch with a bent elbow.

The two shot into the sky above the ocean, exchanging blow after blow, creating shockwaves that shattered the air around them.

Ripples spread outward with each clash, sweeping gales across the roiling sea.

Boom.

Lin Qi's speed ramped up with each passing second, his blows growing heavier. Caught off guard, Jīn was sent flying.

He crashed into the ocean, disappearing beneath the waves. As the churning waters gradually calmed, Lin Qi remained completely alert.

Boom!

Suddenly, a massive wave over ten meters high erupted from the sea. Jīn burst from below and launched another ferocious assault on Lin Qi.

The two clashed repeatedly, vanishing from one spot and reappearing in another—sky, sea surface, even beneath the water.

They collided over and over: fists, kicks, strike after strike. At first glance, it looked like an even match.

But in truth, Lin Qi wasn't even using his full strength.

"Lord Quitela, letting your candidate go around fighting Gods of Destruction like this could easily attract unnecessary attention!" Martinu warned, eyes narrowing as he glanced at the trembling God of Destruction realm.

"I did it on purpose!" Quitela raised his hand to shield his eyes and gazed toward the distant battle, sounding completely unbothered.

"Oh..." Martinu replied with some surprise, then seemed to realize something. "Are you trying to get this candidate into that level?"

"Mhm..." Quitela put his hands on his hips, his tone growing proud. "If he can catch the Grand Priest's eye, then I'll rise with the tide, won't I?!"
