Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Someone’s About to Wreck the Place
Kaito called out a few times before Hancock slowly stirred awake. When she realized she was still in Kaito's arms, she immediately pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Seeing she was conscious but still a bit weak, Kaito called Ain and Kalifa over to help support her.
Since Hancock now stood at a height of 1.9 meters, the two women looked rather petite beside her.
Suddenly, Hancock rose from Kaito's arms, gave a slight bow, and said softly:
"Thank you for your kindness, Vice Admiral Shikiryū. I can manage."
Kaito gave her a once-over and, seeing no signs of real issues, decided not to press further.
When he turned around, he noticed everyone else was looking at him and Hancock with rather strange expressions.
Rolling his purple eyes, Kaito's Rinnegan snapped open with a fierce glare—instantly making the crowd fall silent and obedient.
Now that things had developed this far, and with Hancock's personality in mind, Kaito quickly understood what had happened—Hancock had once again "conquered herself."
Well then, that was fast. But having a stunning, powerful woman like her fall for him wasn't exactly a bad thing.
Especially since once Hancock falls in love, her loyalty is absolute. She's the very definition of a lovestruck brain.
With the Hancock matter settled, Kaito turned his gaze toward Mihawk.
Just moments ago, Mihawk had been single-minded about fighting Kaito. But now he hesitated slightly and asked:
"Am I interrupting something? Should I leave you two to continue?"
At those words, Hancock's face flushed red. She snuck a glance at Kaito and then quickly lowered her head without saying a word.
Kaito gave Mihawk a helpless look. Who would've thought this guy was capable of understanding a situation like this? Wasn't his only love that black sword of his—Yoru? He even wore a mini version around his neck.
"No interruptions," Kaito replied. "Didn't you want a fight? Let's go to the open field in front of Marineford."
He was referring to the battlefield used during the Summit War. From above, Marineford resembled a chubby crescent moon. The missing segment had been filled with seawater, creating a sheltered bay. The battleground was right there.
With the location settled, Kaito led the way out.
The rest of the Shichibukai followed closely behind.
Damn, good thing they waited around. A battle between Mihawk and Shikiryū? That was front-page headline material. And now, they were about to witness it live.
Momonga and Corazon didn't go with the others. They exchanged a glance, then stood and headed straight for Sengoku.
Mihawk fighting Vice Admiral Shikiryū here? That definitely warranted notifying the Fleet Admiral.
...
At that moment, Sengoku was leisurely sipping tea in his office.
Thanks to Kaito, Sengoku now felt comfortable delegating a number of responsibilities to him.
This gave Sengoku rare moments of peace, time to indulge in the sorts of things people his age enjoyed.
Compared to the internal politics of Konoha's leadership, the upper ranks of the Navy in the One Piece world were actually quite endearing—less scheming, more straightforward.
Even when Akainu competed for the Fleet Admiral position, it was done through an open and honest duel with Aokiji.
And Sengoku himself had never clung to power after the Summit War. If someone more suitable for the role came along, he wouldn't trip them up or sabotage them.
Now that Kaito had risen and proven himself, Sengoku was more than happy to let go of some control.
With his hands free, Sengoku had time for more "refined" pastimes.
Tea-drinking, for instance, was one of life's pleasures. Sengoku was already envisioning the peace and joy of retirement.
The tea in his cup had grown lukewarm. He gave up on savoring it and downed the rest in one go.
But before he could even swallow, the office door was suddenly flung open. Momonga and Corazon burst in with anxious expressions.
"Fleet Admiral Sengoku! Mihawk is about to fight Vice Admiral Shikiryū!"
"PFFFFFT!!"
"Fleet Admiral?!"
Sengoku choked mid-sip and sprayed tea everywhere, his face turning a shade of purple. Fixing a fierce glare on the two men, he barked:
"What did you just say? Why are the two of them fighting?!"
"Mihawk heard that Vice Admiral Shikiryū defeated Golden Lion in a sword duel, so he challenged him!"
Sengoku froze. Knowing Mihawk's personality, that actually did make perfect sense.
But just thinking about Mihawk gave Sengoku a headache. Unlike the other Shichibukai, Mihawk was a special case.
Most Shichibukai had crews, territories—things that tied them down.
Mihawk, though, was always alone. And a man with no ties was nearly impossible to control.
His strength was terrifying. In swordsmanship, he could go toe-to-toe with Red-Haired Shanks.
He was also one of the very few who had successfully forged a "Black Blade."
And let's be clear: a "Black Blade" wasn't just a sword wrapped in Armament Haki. That would make it far too common.
As Gyukimaru said in the anime, a true Black Blade is formed when a swordsman pours everything—power, presence, and Haki—into their blade through countless battles over many years. The result is a permanently blackened sword.
With all that, it's fair to say Mihawk was the face of the entire Shichibukai.
Then there was Kaito. Sengoku had zero doubt that his strength was firmly in the Admiral tier now.
If those two actually fought here… just how much would the repair bill be? And who was going to pay for that?
Sengoku's face darkened. He turned to Momonga and Corazon and asked:
"Did Vice Admiral Shikiryū agree to this?"
"Yes!"
"Did he say where they're going to fight?"
"Vice Admiral Shikiryū said they'd go to the open field in front of headquarters!"
"Nani!? That's right nearby!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Are they planning to demolish the place?! You two, stop them right now!"
"Yessir—huh?!"
Momonga and Corazon looked at each other in disbelief. Did they hear that right?
He wanted them to stop those two? Did the Fleet Admiral have some serious misunderstanding about their strength?
Charging in to stop that fight would be suicide. Was Sengoku suddenly losing it… or trying to downsize the department?
Sengoku quickly realized he'd lost his composure. A battle of this scale clearly required his personal attention.
Then, Corazon hesitantly said:
"Fleet Admiral… Didn't you say you could always trust Vice Admiral Kaito?"
Sengoku, who was already halfway out the door, froze for a second.
It took him a moment to remember—that was exactly what he'd told Corazon back during the Op-Op Fruit incident.
He hadn't expected Corazon to actually remember that. And to bring it up now, of all times? That was his little rice cake, alright—always keeping his words close to heart.
Sengoku gave Corazon a look full of appreciation.
But then Momonga chimed in:
"Fleet Admiral, aren't you going to stop them?"
Sengoku jolted. Right! If he waited any longer, the whole base might be rubble!
And this time, it was exactly because he trusted Kaito's strength too much that he needed to step in before this showdown unfolded right in front of HQ.
Realizing that, Sengoku gave Corazon a death glare, then ditched the door entirely. He yanked open the window and leapt out, vanishing from their sight.
Corazon and Momonga were stunned by that move. After a long pause, Corazon swallowed and murmured:
"Worthy of being the Fleet Admiral… Always finds the optimal solution first."
Momonga nodded solemnly.
"Fleet Admiral Sengoku still has twenty good years in him, easy."
