Starting from Prototype to Immortality

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Crushing Defeat

Chapter 18: Crushing Defeat

The space constructed by Chang Wei, named "Black Coffin," not only served to trap its targets but also had the ability to compress them.

Relying on the incredible power of the Blacklight Virus, the Black Coffin could compress anything inside it, akin to a hydraulic press.

Chang Wei's [Black Coffin] utilized liquid pressure transmission to achieve this.

When pressure is transmitted through a liquid in a sealed container, it follows Pascal's Law.

He had tested it once—using a Black Coffin less than 100 cubic meters in size, he crushed a main battle tank into powder.

However, this required consuming a significant amount of his Blacklight Virus, so it became one of his ultimate techniques, akin to his "Thousand Tendrils." It wasn't something he used often.

Chang Wei wasn't content with just the "Thousand Tendrils" as his trump card; in his view, even that technique was far from perfect.

---

Alex had completely abandoned the idea of escaping. He couldn't take the risk and had no choice but to try to find answers by consuming Chang Wei.

The problem was that Chang Wei had an anti-absorption mechanism. Could Alex's Blacklight Virus evolve anti-corrosion capabilities fast enough to keep up with Chang Wei's?

"It's surprising. You already know what you are, don't you? Is it really worth fighting so hard just for a memory?"

Once he confirmed Alex couldn't escape, Chang Wei posed his question.

"What about you?" Alex countered.

"I'm different from you, and from Elizabeth Greene. Our evolutionary paths are distinct. The Blacklight Virus behaves differently in each of us. From the very beginning, there were no identical prototypes. So, I didn't become the virus; instead, I fused with it to become who I am now."

Chang Wei explained calmly.

Although the Blacklight Virus often affected the release of his combat hormones, since the results were all beneficial, Chang Wei chose to ignore it.

---

Taking a deep breath, Alex charged at Chang Wei.

Six-Blade Style!

Chang Wei shook his head and transformed into his six-armed form, each arm wielding a blade. Seeing this, Alex was dumbfounded—six blades? He only had one. How was he supposed to compete?

More importantly, Chang Wei's blade form meant that his arms were no longer human in structure.

In an instant, Alex lost control of his body and collapsed to the ground.

"Can't comprehend what just happened?"

Seeing Alex recover with a confused expression, Chang Wei smiled.

"The tongue of a chameleon, the structure of a snake, and other arthropods... I've been studying biological applications in engineering. This is my Six-Blade Style—blades capable of supersonic cuts with infinitely extendable attack range. I could wipe out an entire army within seconds."

The initial inspiration for this form came from Parasyte. During the practical phase, it evolved into a combination of whip blade and sharp blade forms. Finally, with the integration of biological structures, it became what it was now. In the original storyline, the whip blade merely extended attack range and mimicked Spider-Man.

But now, Chang Wei could simultaneously control six supersonic blades, attacking from angles beyond human limitations. The blades could strike from any direction.

Their destructive power was immense—capable of slicing buildings in half with a single slash!

Unfortunately, he couldn't yet control more than six blades. Otherwise, a Hundred-Blade Style would have been even better.

However, space had its limits—more wasn't necessarily better.

---

Alex was in despair. He felt the gap between him and Chang Wei not only hadn't narrowed despite his courage and determination but had widened further. It was like a person at the foot of a mountain looking up at someone on the summit—unable to discern their figure or even see them clearly.

---

Whoosh!

The whistling sound of air being torn couldn't keep up with the speed of the blades. This time, Alex noticed it. Earlier, he hadn't been paying attention; otherwise, with his reflexes, he could have seen it.

But seeing didn't mean he could dodge. In an instant, his body was once again torn apart. His armor was as fragile as paper. Chang Wei didn't allow him to recover this time, absorbing the severed parts instead.

Alex quickly regenerated and launched various attacks at Chang Wei. However, Chang Wei ignored them completely. No matter how much Alex attacked, it didn't affect Chang Wei, who seemed to be in an invincible state.

Alex had been cornered. The Blacklight Virus was still subject to the law of energy conservation. In the game, this was represented by a health bar. Once the stored energy and Blacklight Virus were depleted, the health bar would empty, leaving no room for recovery.

Having lost much of his Blacklight Virus to Chang Wei, Alex was essentially at the brink of exhaustion.

He couldn't absorb or consume the surrounding Blacklight Virus. Chang Wei's Blacklight Virus had an anti-absorption mechanism. The strong acid corroding Alex's virus only worsened his situation.

---

In the end, Alex made a desperate move.

Thousand Tendrils: End All Things!

This terrifying ultimate attack instantly filled the Black Coffin. The entire structure trembled but remained unbroken. Instead, it was Chang Wei who was struck by the tendrils and tightly bound.

The tendrils, leaving no gaps, nullified his preemptive elementalization. Even though the tendrils piercing and entwining his body were corroded by acid, new ones continuously replaced them.
