Chapter 296: Part 1: Educational Trip
Shadow Moon Organisation:
After hearing the head's question about Jeremy's enemy, Gisela replied by saying, "They are just beast taming families based in City A of the 14th zone. The dean of Central University 14 can take care of the problem."
Oldman Neil's eyebrows eased down upon hearing that.
"Then it's settled. You can take care of the rest of the procedures," he said with a smile.
But Gisela showed some hesitation, which was immediately noticed by Head Neil.
He asked, "What is it?"
"Head, the kid won't join right away. He plans to complete his first-year studies. He will come after the end of this year," Gisela replied.
Hearing that, Neil was dumbfounded. Those who are not part of the top 10 zones are dying to get a chance to live here, but this kid is treating it casually.
Since it's already decided that the kid will join them, he didn't want to be angry over such news.
"So be it. Is there anything else?" Neil asked.
Gisela nodded her head before saying, "I'm planning to hire a team for six months. Their job is to protect Jeremy Night in secret."
Neil frowned before saying, "You can go ahead. But you will be paying with your money. If other new recruits learn about such a treatment, they would feel it is unfair. So do things with your own money."
"Okay," Gisela replied.
She had expected such a reaction. It's already great for the Head to agree with that condition, so she doesn't mind his current statement.
After the meeting ended, Gisela left the office. She was going to take care of the persistent matters. In case of any danger encountered by Jeremy Night in the future, he can use the permit to get here.
...
The following day,
Jeremy left the dorm building after getting ready. He was starting the day as usual. Yesterday's meeting with Daniel Stone and Betsy Lowe went well.
He doesn't feel any guilt or sadness right now. He is going to enjoy the rest of the days here.
Soon, he reached the department building. Upon arriving at his classroom a few minutes later, he saw Daniel and Betsy inside.
Instructor Jacob had yet to come to the class. He then walked into the room and sat beside them.
"Brother Jeremy!" Daniel greeted me.
Betsy nodded her head.
Jeremy greeted each of them in response.
Then they started talking and discussing the ongoing campus matters.
It didn't take long for Instructor Jacob Henry to arrive. Upon seeing the three of them, he smiled and said, "You guys are always early."
After saying that, he looked at them and added, "There is one more important piece of news. The dean has ordered the first-year instructors to prepare for an educational trip to the wilderness."
"The educational trip is needed for the first years to remove the fear of the corrupted beasts. The trip is tomorrow," he added.
Jeremy, Daniel, and Betsy were stunned.
Jeremy thought the day was going to be as usual, but he was stunned by the unexpected news.
"It's a good idea," Jeremy said.
"Brother Jeremy, we can hunt corrupted beasts with you," Daniel Stone said all of a sudden.
Betsy was taken aback and said, "Is this okay?"
"Can we hunt corrupted beasts together?"
Jacob sighed inwardly. He could understand their intentions. Last time, Jeremy saved their lives. Since then, they hadn't gone to the wilderness as a team.
"Okay, you guys can do it. Maybe other department students are planning for that, especially the department representative."
"In case of any danger out there, the students would be eager to see Jeremy Night in action," Jacob said with a smile.
"Yes, brother. If you hunt a Tier-4 beast tomorrow, everyone will be petrified. No one would doubt you again," Daniel said with an enthusiastic smile.
Betsy Lowe became excited as well. Tomorrow was going to be a great day for them.
"Okay, you guys can take today's time to get ready. I'll be going now to monitor the arrangements," Jacob said before leaving the class.
"Brother Jeremy, I'm leaving as well," Daniel said before he left.
Followed by Betsy Lowe, she wanted to make preparations for tomorrow's trip.
Only Jeremy was left behind. Looking at the duo leaving in a hurry, he thought tomorrow won't be peaceful.
He already had the necessary gadgets. There was no need to buy new ones, so he decided to hit the joint training facility.
....
Elemental Department:
May Lindsey learned about the trip from her instructor as well. She immediately thought of Jeremy Night, recalling the condition he set to defeat the Tier-4 corrupted beasts. She sighed inwardly.
She had failed miserably in that challenge. She couldn't fight against the Tier-4 corrupted beasts with her current strength. The body of a Tier-4 beast has incredible defense.
It's not easy to kill unless they find a weak point to exploit, which is much harder than killing it directly. After her wilderness trip, she hadn't gone back.
She accepted and acknowledged her strengths and weaknesses. That's why she had been practicing hard since that day. Her classmates realized something without having to be told.
They had stopped bothering about the duel challenge as well.
Now, she has a chance to witness Jeremy's strength live tomorrow. She knew it was easy to come across Tier-4 corrupted beasts.
As long as a single beast appeared, she would ask the instructor to let Jeremy fight against it. Then everyone would know once and for all whether Jeremy Night is the strongest beast tamer in the first year.
...
Control Department:
The news had reached the control department as well. Jeremy Night's face crossed Victor Scott's mind. He furrowed his eyebrows. Like May Lindsey, he had failed to complete the challenge.
He had tried poisoning the Tier-4 corrupted beasts during the fight, but the Tier-4 beast was so strong that the poison didn't take immediate effect.
Because of it, the Tier-4 beast severely hurt his lifeline beast spider. After that day, he didn't take further risks. He knew that Tier-4 corrupted beasts are physically strong.
As a control-type beast tamer, he found it even more difficult to hurt them. Now he was looking forward to seeing Jeremy Night's performance tomorrow.
...
The news about the educational trip quickly spread like wildfire. The first-year students were all excited because they knew instructors and the protectors would be there to safeguard them.
They could truly learn something on tomorrow's wilderness trip. During their discussion, the name of Jeremy Night came up as well. They were interested to see whether he would fight or not.
If Jeremy Night were to fight against the corrupted Beasts, then the other department representatives could be forced to show their strength as well.
So a new discussion started comparing the department representatives. The First-Year Department Instructors realized that tomorrow wouldn't be peaceful.
They had to be prepared for that because it was necessary for the Department Representatives to accompany them as well. Without the Department Representatives, the students wouldn't feel confident.
After discussing with the First-Year Department Head Jacob, the instructors ordered the department representatives to attend the educational trip tomorrow compulsorily. They had no other choice.
The first-year Department Representatives felt pressure, except for the 2 S-Graders and Jeremy Night. The others were worried that they could be involved in a fight against the corrupted beasts, so they started to get ready.
Meanwhile,
The news reached the ears of the senior students as well, especially those who were against the STRIKER Department. They had all been warned by the administration statements not long ago.
They had reduced their activities to incite their juniors against the STRIKER Department since then. They had been silent so far. Now they had another opportunity because of this news.
They quickly reported to their families. They knew that STRIKER Department members were part of the educational trip as well. They had a good opportunity to harm them.
Even if any slight injuries occurred to their members, the beast-taming families would be satisfied. They were restricted from doing anything because of Dean Carolyn.
But anything could happen outside in the wilderness.
Meanwhile,
Dean Carolyn was speaking to Elder Derek, who was the first-year department head.
"I don't want any mishap to happen, especially to the STRIKER Department. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to seeing Jeremy Night fighting against the corrupted beasts," Dean Carolyn said to Elder Derek.
"Don't worry about it, Dean. I'll take care of them," Derek assured her.
He knew what was going to happen when he heard about the educational trip. Everyone was more eager to see that kid fight than anyone else.
Only a few of them knew about Jeremy Night's kill of Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts. If that kid repeated the feat again, it would terrify the first-year students.
To be honest, even he was looking forward to seeing Jeremy Night fight against the Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts.
Cough!
"I can guess what you're thinking."
"I want you to keep an eye on that kid. I don't want him to go overboard tomorrow," Carolyn said in a serious tone.
"Dean, he is not a reckless kid. Unless others provoke him, he won't act," Derek replied.
