STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

Chapter 316: Slightly tensed exchange

Head office:

"Both of you sit," the old man Neil said the next second.

Hearing that, Jeremy sighed in relief. He sat in the chair opposite him. Gisela sat in the chair as well.

"You are Jeremy Night, right?"

"I'm Neil Moon, Head of the Shadow Moon Organisation. A Tier-8 Beast Tamer," he said.

"Yes," Jeremy replied.

But he was shocked in his heart, looking at the Tier-8 Beast Tamer for the first time. Now he understood why the old man's pressure was stronger than Leader Gisela's.

"You are not a bad kid. You didn't disappoint us. But the competition here is cutthroat. The corrupted beasts' attacks here are more dangerous than you can imagine."

"You won't have peace once you become our member. Don't forget that there are also rivals from other forces. If you are not ready to face all of this, then you should stay back in the 14th zone," Neil said in a serious tone.

Gisela didn't say anything. She knew about the threat as well. Since Jeremy Night was amazed by the good things of the city, he needed to know the ugly side as well.

On the other hand, Jeremy Night sighed in his heart. He knew the risks. His main reason for coming here was to get resources for his unknown egg lifeline beast.

Then there was the threat posed by the beast taming families and the Gold Corp Organisation.

He then said, "Head, I have already decided. The top 10 zones are filled with resources. I want to become a powerful beast tamer."

Hearing that, old man Neil was taken aback. He thought there could be some special reason for this kid to come here. But he wanted to become a powerful beast tamer.

It's just that everyone had this dream. It's the lifetime goal of many beast tamers so that they can expand new territories in the wilderness for the human population.

Neil recovered his thoughts before saying, "Okay, since you have already signed the contract, you are our member now. Here, you can get resources by completing tasks."

"You can take private tasks from the city administration and other friendly forces," he added.

Jeremy thought it was an opportunity to speak.

"Head, I want to ask you something," Jeremy said.

Gisela's eyes flickered. She let him speak.

Old man Neil was surprised, but he found that Gisela was unusually silent.

He then asked, "What is it?"

Jeremy then replied, "I still have my first year studies left. I want to complete them before coming here."

"This?" he uttered in surprise.

He had thought the kid had come here to join.

"What's going on?" Neil said. Then he looked at Gisela Reyes.

"Didn't you tell that kid?"

"Almost all the major forces have his information by now, including the good, bad, and neutral. If the hostile forces knew about his whereabouts, they would try to do something," old man Neil said in a serious tone.

Jeremy's face changed drastically. He didn't expect that the situation here would be so bad as well.

Before he could ask further, she said, "Head, I thought it would be better for you to explain it to him."

"Sigh!"

Old man Neil let out a sigh.

"Kid, you are really naive, aren't you?"

"Since I said that the competition is severe here, do you think we don't have enemies? There is a reason why there are fewer members here," Neil said in a serious tone.

Jeremy was stunned. He had thought about having smooth progression here, but he hadn't expected to catch a tiger's tail. He furrowed his eyebrows.

Now he had seen the size of the city. He could understand the undercurrents surging there.

"If you still insist on finishing your studies, you will die sooner. Your parents will suffer as well," Neil told the truth.

On the other hand, Jeremy felt as if a thunderclap struck his head.

"What?" he blurted out in surprise, his eyes full of disbelief.

He then said, "I wanted my future and parents to be safe. That's why I agreed to join here. But you are scaring me instead?"

"Jeremy," Gisela called out. She found Jeremy's tone rude.

Old man Neil's expression hardened. He never thought someone from the barren zone could talk back to him.

"It's over," Gisela thought.

She regretted bringing Jeremy Night here.

He looked into the eyes of the kid.

He said, "Kid, there are no good or bad people here. I'm stating the facts. You have just entered one of the top 10 zones. You will find everyone has calculations against each other."

"Now that you have joined us, you have become a target for others. Similarly, if you join our enemy force, we will target you," Neil added.

Jeremy eased his eyebrows. He forgot that there was no free lunch in this world, and this place was no charity. Since he had become part of this organisation, he had to take responsibility as a member as well.

Which includes going through good and bad times together. He calmed his heart the next second.

"It appears you have cooled down a bit," old man Neil said.

He was truly impressed by that kid. How many teenagers in the 10th zone could speak to him without fumbling and fear? That too, this kid was a Tier-2 Beast Tamer who had broken through recently.

And he was a veteran Tier-8 Beast Tamer, so he was not offended by the kid's tone.

"Sorry about that," Jeremy uttered.

His outburst was unwarranted, but he realized that the head was speaking with good intentions.

"I forgive you. The reason I'm speaking to you in this way is because I'm treating you as an adult who could become a pillar of our organisation," old man Neil said with a smile.

Hearing that, Jeremy's heart filled with warmth. Since the Head of the Organisation was speaking to him warmly, he realized that Leader Gisela's earlier words were right.

He wouldn't face any trouble inside the organisation. He could basically complain to the Head directly if anything happened.

Gisela's eyes filled with relief. She thought Head Neil would punish this kid, but surprisingly, he was not strict today.

"Maybe he was really impressed by the talent?" she thought.

During the genius list meeting, she went against Head Neil to recruit Jeremy Night.

A few seconds later,

"So, what should I do now?" Jeremy asked.

Old man Neil smiled and replied, "Listen to me. Start your day as a member of our organization. Forget about your academy. If you go back, it would only harm your friends."

"Not today, but in the future for sure," he added.

Then Old man Neil thought of something important before asking, "Ask your family to move out as well. It's not safe for them."

"I can recommend your father for a post in the city administration. With his job here, you can stay with your family."

"Even hostile forces won't target your family here. With the abundant resources, both of your parents can find opportunities for a breakthrough."

"If you agree, I'll ask Gisela to take care of the arrangements," Old man Neil added.

Gisela was surprised. Honestly, she didn't expect the Head of the Organization to speak so much. More importantly, she found out that the Head of the organization also wanted talent like Jeremy to stay.

Jeremy gave it deep thought before agreeing. He knew he couldn't control things outside of his power.

He then said, "Okay."

"Ha... Ha... Ha..., you are a smart kid," Old man Neil said with a laugh.

Gisela sighed in relief. She thought Jeremy Night would be stubborn. But in the face of reality, he accepted the facts as well.

"Gisela, take care of this matter. I'll ask my friends in the city administration to accept this kid's father," Old man Neil said.

"Yes, Head," Gisela replied.

Then Jeremy and she exited the room.

Old man Neil's eyes flickered.

"I hope with this kid's character there won't be a problem here," he said to himself.

To be honest, he wanted all of his members to be happy and safe here. But there is also reality. If they knew the reality, they wouldn't let down their guard.

"There are rooms here. You can stay there until I bring your parents," Gisela said.

Hearing that, Jeremy suddenly thought of Night Mansion. There were guards, servants, and other staff. He didn't want them to be jobless.

"Leader, is there a chance to bring out the guards and staff?" Jeremy asked.

Gisela paused her footsteps. She looked at Jeremy and said, "I'm sorry. It's not possible. We only got permission for you and your parents."

"Don't forget there are rules. There is a reason why there are different zones. Imagine if everyone comes to the 10th zone; it's impossible to allow them. The city is already populated."

"If you want staff, you can choose people who were born and brought up here," she added.

Hearing that, Jeremy sighed. He had actually forgotten about the permits. His father was one of the city governors. Soon, he was going to be an ordinary employee.

"Thanks for reminding me. But I'm curious about the hostile forces here," Jeremy asked.

Gisela's eyes flickered. Since Jeremy was part of their organization now, she decided to tell him.

"We have a competitive relationship with others. But if we truly talk about enemies, then there is one organization. It's called the Sun Wheel Organization."

"Their Head has the same strength as our leader. From the name, you can guess that their members all have fire-related abilities," she added.

Jeremy was surprised in his heart.
