Chapter 690: Ian's Two-Sword Style
To be honest, when Smoothie first started cursing at her, Reiju was bewildered for a second.
Although she had previously sensed Smoothie’s hostility, she had no idea where it was coming from.
But Reiju wasn’t a frail woman. In an instant, she snapped back to reality and immediately kicked out at Smoothie’s longsword that was slashing down from the side!
With a loud bang, Reiju’s jet boots delivered immense power, causing Smoothie’s sword to deflect to one side and slice into the ground.
Seeing that her initial strike failed, Smoothie immediately reached out to grab Reiju. Given her massive stature, Reiju appeared like a doll to her.
However, with her Raid Suit on, how could Reiju be so easily caught? Her right leg, which she had kicked out, hadn’t even been retracted when the jet boots activated again. Performing an aerial backflip that ordinary people couldn’t achieve, she instantly evaded Smoothie’s grasp.
At this moment, Judge also reacted. He hurriedly shouted to Smoothie, “Miss Smoothie, please stop! Let’s talk this out. Our Vinsmoke family is not your enemy!”
His shout caused Smoothie to momentarily lose focus, but Reiju didn’t. Hovering in mid-air, she suddenly propelled straight forward, her fist fiercely striking Smoothie’s face and sending her flying.
“You…!” Judge stared at Reiju in shock, then stomped his foot in anger, shouting, “Reiju! What are you doing!?”
“It’s useless, Father!” Reiju hovered in the air and said, “The Big Mom Pirates have ill intentions toward our Germa Kingdom. I sensed their hostility during the wedding, and didn’t you hear what Katakuri just said?”“But… but it’s all a misunderstanding!” Judge gritted his teeth.
“Even if it’s a misunderstanding, do you think they’ll listen to your explanation?” Reiju said as she pointed behind Judge.
Judge turned around to find Charlotte Amande—the ghostly woman with a cigarette—charging toward them, seemingly intent on supporting Smoothie.
In that instant, Judge finally understood that things were beyond repair. The Big Mom Pirates truly were treating the Vinsmoke family as enemies…
“Damn it!” Charlotte Amande’s first target was Ichiji. However, since they had come to attend the wedding, Ichiji wasn’t wearing his Germa Raid Suit. Facing Amande’s slashing sword, Ichiji could only leap away to dodge. Frustrated, he shouted at Judge, “Father! What should we do!? Give us a clear directive!”
Judge looked at Reiju, who had re-engaged with Smoothie, then at Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji, who were being forced to dodge continuously. He knew he had to make a choice!
He grabbed Caesar, who was trying to sneak away, and shouted at him, “Caesar! You’re quick—go to our room and bring our Raid Suits! They’re on the cabinet next to the bedroom: four suitcases—red, yellow, blue, and green!”
Even if he didn’t want to fight the Big Mom Pirates, Judge couldn’t just stand here and wait to die…
Caesar screamed and struggled, “I won’t go!”
“Bastard!” Judge roared, “How far do you think you can run? Even if you escape now, if the Big Mom Pirates win this battle, you’ll still end up being hunted down! Do as I say, and you might have a fighting chance!”
“Fine… fine, I’ll go!” Caesar said, his face contorted in despair. It seemed Judge’s mention of being hunted by the Big Mom Pirates had indeed scared him.
Transforming into a cloud of blue gas, Caesar floated toward the castle to retrieve their Raid Suits.
As for Judge and his sons, they could only join forces to fend off Amande…
The Vinsmoke family was in disarray, and the underground bosses like Feld fared no better. Oven and Daifuku were pursuing them relentlessly, forcing them to resist. While these bosses might not have exceptional combat abilities, they had their own means of survival. Those who mingled in the underworld couldn’t be entirely powerless; otherwise, they’d just be offering themselves up.
Regardless, whether it was these underground bosses or the Vinsmoke family, they did help Ian by drawing away some of the Big Mom Pirates’ high-ranking officers. This left Katakuri with fewer forces when he led his remaining siblings to confront Ian and his Dragon Hunter Pirates, making the two sides appear evenly matched.
“Ian, it’s not too late to back down now!” Katakuri stood with his arms hanging at his sides but clenched his fists tightly. With a grim expression, he said to Ian, “Take Capone Bege and get off Whole Cake Island, and I’ll pretend none of this ever happened!”
Ian chuckled, planting his Senbonzakura blade into the ground before him. “Feeling guilty? Otherwise, why would you say such things? Yesterday, when I wanted to leave, you wouldn’t let me. Now that I don’t want to go, you insist I leave. Who exactly are you playing with?”
Facing Ian’s taunt, Katakuri took a long breath and said, “In that case, there’s nothing more to discuss! Come then, let me show you that the Big Mom Pirates aren’t so easily defeated!”
Ian smiled and shouted, “Attack!” He then vanished from where he stood!
Katakuri’s eyes narrowed as he instantly punched out in front of him!
Boom! His fist collided with Ian’s blade. The powerful Armament Haki hardening allowed his fist to directly confront the weapon. Their clash immediately unleashed a powerful shockwave, blowing away those nearby!
Staring at Ian, who was enveloped in golden flames, Katakuri began to grapple with him in strength. His entire arm bulged with veins, and Ian matched his intensity.
Realizing that neither could overpower the other, Katakuri’s other hand suddenly stretched out, striking upward toward Ian’s abdomen!
“Power Mochi!”
Facing Ian, Katakuri dared not be careless and used his full strength. However, just as he unleashed his punch, an unexpected burst of flame rose from beneath his feet.
“Flame Rend!”
Ian concentrated all his Armament Haki on his abdomen for defense, enduring Katakuri’s attack while simultaneously launching a surprise attack.
Bang! Ian was sent flying by Katakuri, but Katakuri was also struck by Ian’s lightning-fast flame attack. His entire body ignited, and he let out a scream, hurriedly shaking off the scorched mochi layer from his body.
Senbonzakura’s blade plunged into the ground, increasing resistance and stopping his slide. Ian once again kicked off, charging toward Katakuri at supersonic speed.
He knew that the way to counter Katakuri’s advanced Observation Haki was to compete in speed. So what if Katakuri could “see” snippets of the future? As long as Ian’s speed surpassed his, even if he foresaw it, he wouldn’t be able to react!
In an instant, Ian appeared before Katakuri, thrusting his sword toward Katakuri’s throat. At such extreme speed, Katakuri realized he couldn’t transform his body into mochi in time to counter. He could only desperately twist his head to dodge. However, accompanying Ian’s thrust was a powerful burst of lightning with a sharp sound! Katakuri narrowly avoided Ian’s blade but was grazed by the sudden lightning surge!
A powerful electric current coursed through his body instantly, causing him to stiffen momentarily.
Seizing the moment, Ian suddenly freed one hand and thrust it into Katakuri’s chest!
When he withdrew his hand, Ian was already clutching a tenth of Katakuri’s soul. Katakuri reached out in horror, trying to snatch it back from Ian, but Ian crushed the soul fragment just as it left Katakuri’s chest!
“Ugh!” Katakuri spat out a mouthful of blood!
Previously, whether facing fire or lightning, Katakuri could rely on his strong physique to withstand the attacks. But confronted with Ian’s soul extraction, he was utterly defenseless!
Their exchange lasted merely a dozen seconds, but in that brief battle, Ian had already severely wounded Katakuri!
As Katakuri staggered back a few steps, clutching his chest to steady himself, he realized that Ian had suddenly halted his assault.
Ian stood not far away, first sheathing Senbonzakura and hanging it at his waist. He then smiled and said, “Sorry, Katakuri, but your Big Mom Pirates have too many officers, so I have to make this quick!”
Before Katakuri could respond, he saw Ian suddenly bring his hands together and then slowly pull them apart.
Simultaneously, Katakuri was astonished to see a sword he had never seen before materialize out of thin air as Ian separated his hands!
This newly appeared sword was entirely different from the Senbonzakura he had just wielded. Senbonzakura’s hilt was pink, whereas this sword’s hilt was a ghostly green.
Both swords were now hanging at Ian’s waist. He slowly drew them out, holding one in each hand.
Gripping the two swords, Ian smiled at the somewhat stunned Katakuri and said, “Let me explain. The one with the pink hilt in my left hand is called Senbonzakura, and the one with the green hilt in my right hand is something I recently acquired. Its name is Murciélago : Great Black-Winged Demon!”
“So now, you’re facing an opponent who uses two-sword style!”
