Chapter 10: Evolution of My Team's Arsenal
Ronald, however, had no time to indulge himself. He stood in the center of the entertainment room, diligently practicing his swordsmanship, each stroke precise and focused.
On the Tianheng Continent, strength reigned supreme. Though the human race was small and weak, they possessed a tradition of martial cultivation. The technique Ronald practiced was called the Thunderstrike Blade, a martial art passed down to him by his father.
According to the old man, this blade technique was created by ancient ancestors and possessed incredible power. Unfortunately, over the centuries, many volumes of the technique had been lost. What Ronald had inherited was merely the Thunderstrike Blade's foundational body-training version.
But even a fragment of it should not be underestimated. His father, Li Ding, had used this technique to dominate the battlefield, expanding the territory of the Kingdom of Sun and Moon.
Ronald had once been raised in the palace, sheltered by the women of the inner court. Though he was kind-hearted, he had always been soft and disinterested in violence. Martial arts had only been a duty to him, something to pass the time.
But that was no longer the case. The Ronald of now was not a weakling. How could he not learn?
Time flew by, and ten days passed in the blink of an eye. One moment, Ronald was practicing his swordplay, and the next, his vision darkened. When it cleared again, he found himself back in his guest room.
The tea on the table still emitted a faint steam, and the slanted rays of the setting sun filtered softly through the bamboo window, warming the room. Everything seemed unchanged.
He stood there, momentarily stunned, when suddenly, hurried footsteps approached. The door swung open, and Liu Long rushed in, his voice filled with urgency. "Young master, there are two young people outside claiming to be your subordinates, seeking an audience!"
Ronald chuckled. "Ha! Let them in at once!"
Several hours later, Liu Long stood staring at the steel lock armor, glittering steel long swords, and new iron-tipped bows stacked on the ox-cart, his eyes wide with shock. Breathing heavily, he turned to Ronald. "Young… Young master, is all of this ours?"
Ronald shot him a disdainful glance and calmly replied, "It's just some common-grade weapons and armor. Look at you, getting excited over nothing."
Liu Long's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Common-grade? A set of lower-tier common-grade armor costs 200 gold coins, but these look like mid-tier common-grade quality! We've struck it rich!"
On the Tianheng Continent, items like potions, weapons, and equipment were ranked into different grades. The lowest was unranked, followed by common-grade, spirit-grade, saint-grade, and god-grade. Each grade had its own sub-tier: lower, middle, upper, and extreme.
Humans, being at the bottom of the continent's hierarchy, usually only had access to unranked items. Only the upper echelons of humanity might afford common-grade equipment. As for spirit-grade... the only item of such quality in the Kingdom of Sun and Moon was the royal staff, used purely as a symbol of power.
Yet, this entire ox-cart was filled with mid-tier common-grade gear. Even Liu Long, who considered himself well-traveled, was left dumbfounded.
Ronald couldn't help but smirk internally. My colonists are craftsmen—common gear is no challenge for them.
He clapped Liu Long on the shoulder with a grin. "Stop gawking. Ah Qiang and Cuihua were part of my strategy from the start. They'll handle my protection, so you don't need to worry about that."
Liu Long remained fixed on the cart, still in awe. Ronald shot him a glance and, with a twitch of his brow, kicked him in the rear. "Quit daydreaming. Distribute the gear immediately—one set for each person. Then go give the innkeeper ten gold coins to keep their mouths shut."
Liu Long, jolted by the kick, snapped out of his trance and grinned sheepishly. Standing at attention, he replied, "Yes! I'll take care of it right away!"
