Super Game System-Otherworld King: Rise to Power

Chapter 32: Legacy of the Fallen Heroes

Ahead, a vast open space in the heart of the mountain stretched out before them. The walls were studded with glowing white stones that illuminated the entire cavern as if it were daylight. In the center of the cave, countless skeletal soldiers stood in perfect formation, wielding broken weapons and bloodstained flags, as though they were victorious soldiers returning from battle, silently shouting toward the unseen horizon.

Ronald barely had time to react, his eyes darting to the other side of the cave. What he saw made his heart skip a beat.

At the far end, a massive throne, encrusted with various jewels, sat beneath a glowing crown. Atop the throne was a skeletal figure, wearing a crown embedded with a giant milky-white gem. A gleaming short sword pierced the skeleton's chest. Around the throne, scattered black bone fragments lay in disarray.

Behind him, Cuihua hid nervously behind Aqiang, her eyes wide with fear as she whispered, "Master... this..."

Despite her strength, a woman couldn't escape the natural fear these things provoked.

Ronald's scalp tingled as unease crept over him. He was about to speak, but just then, Cuihua, trembling, took a step back and accidentally stepped on a dried bone beneath her feet.

Crack!

The sharp sound echoed through the cavern. The three of them froze, glancing down at the bone, then at the silent, unmoving skeleton soldiers.

A chill ran down Ronald's spine, and he could almost feel the cold stare of over a thousand undead warriors fixed upon them.

The hollow eyes of the skeletal soldiers seemed to pierce time and space, staring directly into the hearts of these three helpless mortals.

Cuihua's trembling voice broke the silence. "M-Master, we must run..."

Run?

The thought flashed through Ronald's mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Even if they escaped the cave, they would still have to face the eerie mist outside.

Taking a deep breath, he clasped his fists and spoke in a steady voice, "Descendant of mankind, Ronald, pays his respects to His Majesty! I greet all the ancestors!"

When the skeletal soldiers didn't move, still staring at him, Ronald's courage grew. He began walking toward the throne.

"We three stumbled into this place by accident, disturbing the peaceful rest of our ancestors. Please forgive us."

As he spoke, he carefully approached the throne.

As he passed through one of the skeletal soldiers, a realization struck him, combining with the earlier murals. These skeletal soldiers weren't physical—they were remnants of the spirits of ancient human warriors, summoned into existence by the lingering souls of long-departed ancestors. They posed no threat to him.

Standing before the throne, Ronald let out a sigh and slowly knelt.

"Ancestors of mankind, we humbly apologize for disturbing your eternal rest. Please forgive your servant's offenses."

"The merits of His Majesty are unparalleled. In life, he protected millions of our people. Even in death, his blessings endure. We, his descendants, will never forget."

His tone shifted, growing determined. "Today, the world is in turmoil, and my people are in decline. It is a perilous time for survival. Though I am unworthy, I vow to rid us of the barbarous and savage forces. Once we are strong, with enough weapons, food, and soldiers, I will lead the armies, sweeping across the lands and restoring the glory of our ancestors!"

With those words, he stood, unwavering, and stepped forward toward the throne.

Suddenly, a warm breeze swept through the cavern, and the skeletal figures of the ancestors seemed to dissolve into tiny stardust particles.

The skeletal figure on the throne slowly began to fade away, as if the wind had blown it to nothingness.

Clink!

The crown and short sword fell to the ground. Ronald sighed softly and shook his head, turning to Aqiang and Cuihua.

"Pick them up. Let's see what else this cave has to offer."
