Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 219 - 219: Spade A

Chapter 219: Chapter 219: Spade A

Lin Miao held in her hand an egg that resembled a Crystal Base Egg, completely translucent like a crystal, without the slightest impurity.

But it was not a Crystal Base Egg. Inside the egg-shaped crystal, there was a lifelike grey image of a Six-Winged Phoenix.

This was clearly a Spirit Base, but there was an obvious issue with it: It lacked any luster or energy fluctuations.

“Six Paths Phoenix… he…” Lin Miao, as if grasping at her last straw of salvation, looked at Hei with pleading eyes.

“Yes, it’s as you think—he failed his Ascension, died, and this is his unfinished Life Base,” Hei, seeing Lin Miao’s demeanor, couldn’t bear to be harsh and sighed, “Keep it well, even in death, he wished to stay by your side. Fulfill his last humble wish.”

Upon hearing Hei’s words, Lin Miao seemed completely enervated as she stared blankly at the Spirit Base in her hands.

“It shouldn’t have been like this… it shouldn’t have been like this…” Lin Miao muttered to herself, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.

“He did everything he could. Now that he can stay by your side as he wished, it’s not in vain. Keep it well,” Hei said, shaking his head.

“I will… No one will be able to take him away from me again…” Lin Miao said with a hollow look in her eyes, not knowing whether she was speaking to Hei or herself.

Hei, seeing Lin Miao in such a state, sighed and, without saying anything more, turned to leave.

“Did he leave any words for me?” Lin Miao asked, watching Hei’s retreating figure.

“Find a good man and get married,” Hei said without turning back and walked away.

“I found one… but it’s too late now…” Lin Miao hugged the Spirit Base in her arms, curled up in a corner, her eyes devoid of light.

Atop an immense planet dark and lightless as the Dark Domain, terrifying creatures lurked everywhere in the shadows.

Within an ancient castle-like edifice, monstrous in its blackness, lay a beautiful woman lounging on a sofa, her back adorned with bat-like black wings and ram-like horns atop her head, savoring a cup of blood-red liquid.

Her entire pitch-black wall suddenly lit up and displayed the image of a fellow clad in battle armor.

“Princess Catherine, the human you were betrothed to, Wan Nianbei, has failed his Ascension and been confirmed dead,” the Di Man man said.

Catherine, unconcerned, continued to sip the liquid in her cup as she replied, “For a human to cultivate successfully and achieve the Six Paths Phoenix Body is indeed rare.”

“Such a worthless human who even fails at Ascension is not worth your concern, Your Highness,” the man on the screen said.

Catherine neither agreed nor disagreed, simply asking indifferently, “Ascension failed, and the flesh may be destroyed, but is the Spirit Base still intact?”

“The flesh is destroyed, the Spirit Base unfinished, a half-disabled product,” the man paused to answer.

“Bring it back. Since he was mine, even if only ashes remain, they should be scattered in my garden,” Catherine said calmly.

“A worthless Spirit Base, unworthy even to be fertilizer, why should Your Highness bother…” The man’s speech was cut off mid-sentence.

Catherine’s eyes narrowed slightly; a Bizarre Creature crouching like a dog next to the sofa lifted its head, its eyes bursting with blood-red light, fixated on the man in the screen. The man, located on an unknown planet, had his head explode like a watermelon.

The screen immediately became chaotic, with a few men of the Di Man Tribe dragging away the corpses. One of them, a man trembling, stood in front of the screen and bowed his head to Catherine.

“What is your name?” Catherine asked the Di Man man indifferently.

“Your Highness, I am Yue E, vice commander from Hanji Star,” the Di Man man cautiously replied.

“Very good, from now on you are the commander-in-chief of Hanji Star. You know what I want, bring it back to me,” Catherine said nonchalantly.

“Your Highness can rest assured, I will go and find the people of Wan Family right away,” Yue E said, both alarmed and delighted, bowing once more.

“Very good,” Catherine turned her head away, and the screen went dark.

“Ascension failed, Wan Nianbei, did you think you could escape from the palm of my hand? Even if you turn into an evil ghost and fall into hell, you can only be buried at my feet,” Catherine said coldly, draining the liquid from her cup in one gulp.

“Why are there so many boring people in this world?” Catherine picked up an ancient-looking mechanical watch, activated it, and a holographic image with a contact list appeared.

But that contact list only had one name, marked ‘Spade A’.

“Why haven’t you replied to my message? Where have you gone? You disappear without a sound, leaving one quite bored. I was thinking of finding a replacement to play with, but who knew it would be so uninteresting,” Catherine spoke to the motionless avatar of Spade A, her gaze shifting as if a new idea had struck her.

“You won’t reply to my messages, won’t pay attention to me, huh? I’ll make you reply to me,” Catherine murmured to herself, picked up the watch, and aimed it at the exotic beast beside the sofa, smiling and saying, “Darling, come on, smile for the camera.”

The exotic beast, crouching like a dog beside the sofa, slowly lifted its head and showed a bizarre smile to the camera.

Catherine took a photo of the exotic beast’s smile, then opened the chat window with Spade A and sent the image directly.

Lin Shen was on Ring Mountain Planet hunting the Supersource Pterosaur when he suddenly felt a vibration from the watch on his wrist.

Looking down, he saw another message from Red Heart A.

Now, in the crucial moment of hunting the Supersource Pterosaur, Lin Shen did not have the mood to check the message, ignoring it to continue commanding the battle.

After struggling for most of the night, this was already the fourth Supersource Pterosaur he had lured out.

With Jiweis and Death Powder cooperating, killing a First Turn Supersource Pterosaur was not difficult, but how to keep its Ascension Liquid intact was a problem.

Using Death Powder to kill it, the Ascension Liquid inside the dead Supersource Pterosaur would solidify, hard enough to shatter teeth, making it inedible.

Having Death Powder entangle the Spirit Base while Jiweis killed the Supersource Pterosaur would keep the Ascension Liquid, but the Spirit Base would surely be consumed by Death Powder, that gluttonous thing that never gave peace of mind.

After weighing the pros and cons, Lin Shen decided to keep the Ascension Liquid. As for the Spirit Base, let Death Powder take care of it; if it could ascend, so be it.

After killing another pterosaur, there were no more in Ring Mountain, and Lin Shen climbed to the top to look inside.

Inside the nests of those pterosaurs, he saw no Ascension Eggs.

Just as Lin Shen was about to leave, he suddenly saw the blue magma below bubbling up, as if there was something inside.
