Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 607 Peony Fairy

"Who is this?" As the person approached, Lin Shen quickly asked Di Esi.

Di Esi introduced, "This is my old teacher, Lou Ran."

Upon hearing the name Lou Ran, Lin Shen couldn't help but feel a slight jolt in his heart and silently thought, "Could it really be such a coincidence? Isn't that Demon Master from the Taiger Clan, the one named Lou Ran, who asked me to relay a message to the Supreme Clan?"

Lin Shen was somewhat stunned for a moment. The person that Demon Master Demon Bone sought was actually Di Esi's old teacher, and moreover, a woman bearing a mosaic.

Seeing that Lin Shen kept staring at her without offering a greeting, Lou Ran immediately felt that he was very rude and said with some displeasure, "Di Esi, don't waste any more time."

"Teacher, I have already mentioned to you that I would like to take them with us," Di Esi respectfully asked.

"You decide," Lou Ran replied, not fond of Lin Shen but showing no intent to stop Di Esi.

Lin Shen naturally would not miss this opportunity and followed Di Esi, walking behind Lou Ran.

"Di Esi, where are we going?" Lin Shen asked as he walked. He felt that he should establish a good relationship with Di Esi, as it might give him a chance to get closer to Lou Ran and obtain the Fire Seed.

"You'll know when we get there," Di Esi replied with a mysterious smile, without answering Lin Shen's question.

Under Lou Ran's lead, the group entered a courtyard with signs that read 'No Entry,' and inside were several small buildings with locked front doors.

Lou Ran swiped a card to unlock the door of one of the small buildings and led them inside.

Through various doorways, the group arrived at a room that resembled a laboratory, and there Lin Shen saw a huge transparent container.

Inside the transparent container grew a peony flower of immense size, vibrant and delicate like a common peony, but many times larger, with a single bloom the size of half a small room.

What was incredible was that sitting within the blossom was a figure.

It couldn't really be called a human; it looked more like an elf, a sprite of the flower, with its body merged with the petals.

"What is that?" Lin Shen and the others were full of wonder.

"This King of Peonies has been cultivated to reach the Immortal Level. The life within the flower can be considered the Life Base of the King of Peonies; we call her the Peony Fairy," Di Esi explained.

"An Immortal Level plant... and it has given birth to a Life Base with a body of flesh and blood..." Lin Shen and the others felt incredibly shocked; they had never heard of such a thing.

Di Esi said with a smile, "This is my teacher's research subject, and now it has been partly successful. Watch carefully later; you might learn something."

"Di Esi, go change your clothes," Lou Ran said as she walked out from a room nearby, already dressed in special attire that enveloped her whole body, resembling a protective suit.

"Just observe from here and don't move around randomly," said Di Esi before going into the room to put on his protective suit.

When he came out, he was wearing the same type of protective suit as Lou Ran, and then the two of them walked through a long corridor, went through some sort of disinfection or similar process, and finally entered the transparent container to come into close contact with the King of Peonies.

The Peony Fairy nestled in the flower seemed to sense their arrival and opened her eyes, coldly sizing up the two of them.

Lou Ran took a syringe, went to the Peony Fairy's side, and inserted it into her arm, drawing out a tube of blood.

The Peony Fairy did not move at all during the entire process, showing no sign of resistance; she simply watched coldly as Lou Ran drew her blood.

After taking blood from the Peony Fairy, Lou Ran then directed Di Esi to perform many checks on both the King of Peonies and the Peony Fairy using instruments that Lin Shen had never seen before and did not know the purpose of.

Lin Shen felt somewhat puzzled, not knowing what Di Esi wanted them to come over to see. Were they just supposed to watch him give the Peony Fairy a medical examination?

As he mulled over his confusion, Di Esi, who had already completed the examination, took out a syringe from the box at Lou Ran's command.

Clearly, there was something inside the syringe. He walked up to the Peony Fairy and inserted the syringe into her, injecting whatever was inside.

The Peony Fairy remained still, allowing them to do as they pleased.

It wasn't until the injection was complete that Di Esi and Lou Ran both stepped back.

The next second, Lin Shen witnessed an incredible scene: ribbons of light began to rise from the Peony Fairy's body.

The glowing ribbons danced around the Peony Fairy, truly resembling the celestial dance of a fairy from myths.

It took quite a while before the ribbons of light on the Peony Fairy's body gradually disappeared, and the Peony Fairy slowly closed her eyes, eventually falling into a deep sleep.

Only then did Lou Ran and Di Esi come out of the transparent container, passed through the long corridor, and went through another round of disinfection or something before they came out.

"Did you understand?" Di Esi asked Lin Shen eagerly as he took off his protective suit and stepped out from inside.

"Understand what?" Lin Shen replied, bewildered.

Di Esi had brought him here mysteriously, just to watch the Peony Fairy's ribbon dance. Although it looked pretty, Lin Shen didn't understand what Di Esi meant by his question.

Hearing Lin Shen's response, Di Esi was slightly disappointed.

"Rules..." Wei Wufu suddenly interjected.

Hearing this, Di Esi was quite surprised and scrutinized Wei Wufu, asking, "How may I address you, sir?"

He had been talking to Lin Shen all the time but had not asked for the names of the others.

Apart from Ouyang Yudu, whom he recognized, he had no idea who Wei Wufu was.

"This is Wei Wufu, from my Celestial Master Institute," Lin Shen spoke on behalf of Wei Wufu.

"Brother Wei, you can sense the rules contained in the light ribbons?" Di Esi asked further.

"A... little..." Wei Wufu nodded and replied.

"Could you describe the nature of the rules?" Di Esi asked again.

"Saber... none... Sword... none... Spear... none..." The words of Wei Wufu made Lin Shen feel utterly baffled.

However, Di Esi listened with great admiration, nodding in agreement from time to time. He actually understood what Wei Wufu was saying and was able to communicate with him without any barriers.

Even Lou Ran, who had come out to join them, seemed to show a measure of approval upon hearing the conversation between Wei Wufu and Di Esi.

"Di Esi, it's about time we headed back," Lin Shen interjected after they left the courtyard, seeing that Di Esi and Wei Wufu were still in deep conversation.

"Lin Shen, how about this, you go back first, and Brother Wei comes with me? I'll send Brother Wei back later," Di Esi suggested, now seemingly more interested in Wei Wufu than in Lin Shen.

Lin Shen looked at Wei Wufu, who gave a slight nod, so he agreed to the arrangement.
