Chapter 210 - 123: Dark Web
Chapter 210: Chapter 123: Dark Web
After so many twists and turns, Yan Fei had finally rescued Lu Pingping. Holding Lu Pingping in the Drone Cockpit, he looked at the still unconscious Lu Pingping, guilt flooding his heart. Under Lu Pingping’s management, the weight loss cookies were a big success, and although they had not yet gone international, the domestic market craze alone had brought in a lot of money. Thus, Yan Fei, as the company boss, naturally became a newly rich man, and this attracted the attention of the Al-Assassin guild, which specialized in targeting the wealthy.
Al-Assassin’s target was Yan Fei, but in order to successfully extort him and give him the time and ability to raise the money, they did not directly kidnap Yan Fei; instead, they chose to kidnap Lu Pingping and use her to threaten Yan Fei. It could be said that Lu Pingping’s tribulation was entirely due to Yan Fei’s involvement, an undeserved disaster, since Lu Pingping’s modest fortune itself would never have drawn Al-Assassin’s interest.
However, after Lu Pingping was kidnapped by Al-Assassin, she was injected with a sedative, so she remained unconscious for the entire duration of the kidnapping, thus sparing her the pain and torment of the experience. Moreover, from external appearances, she did not seem to have sustained any physical harm. After all, Al-Assassin’s goal was money, not to torture hostages. Thankfully, all that was now in the past, and Lu Pingping had been safely rescued by Yan Fei, who had effectively covered his biggest weakness.
Yan Fei had killed and set fires in the past, but only as a reluctant and forced act of self-defense. During these retaliatory actions, he tried his best to control himself and not cause needless slaughter of the innocent. Also, most of his illegal activities occurred overseas; while in the domestic arena, he behaved honestly and abided by the law. But now, because he had money, Lu Pingping was kidnapped by an Al-Assassin assassin out of the blue. Plus, the heart-wrenching incidents Yan Fei experienced while raising the ransom money greatly changed his heart.
Because of this change, some of the development plans Yan Fei had previously set had to be altered. Before his remarkable adventure, Yan Fei was just an Otaku with no worries about food or clothing, who spent his days at home without any great ambitions. Even after acquiring his extraordinary powers, his wish remained quite simple: he hoped that those he cared for and cherished would be healthy and safe, instead of constantly facing threats to their lives from others.
Following the kidnapping of Lu Pingping, Yan Fei realized that fulfilling this seemingly simple wish was quite complicated. He needed to have a deterring power, a power so overwhelming that no one would dare to provoke him, knowing that doing so would invite a fearsome retaliation, making the aggressor pay a heavy price. Only under the balance of terrifying martial force could Yan Fei and those around him achieve true safety.
As Yan Fei piloted the Drone quickly towards Shanghai, he pondered how to establish his deterring power and display it to the world, so that anyone considering targeting him would be aware of this deterring power, making them think twice and ultimately decide against messing with him and the people close to him.
Yan Fei had powerful Drone Avatars, which were his deterring power, but he dared not just reveal them, saying, “This mighty drone is mine, Yan Fei’s; it’s very powerful, so don’t mess with me, or I’ll use it to eliminate you.” If he dared to do such a thing, he feared he would immediately be labeled a KB element by all the countries of the world, and they would join forces to take down Yan Fei to acquire the black technology far surpassing current science within the drone.
One must know that although Yan Fei’s Drone Avatar was formidable, it was not invincible. First, its ammunition was not unlimited; it would run out during a war. Second, its Energy Points were limited, unable to support round-the-clock combat. Lastly, the drone itself could get damaged, and this would affect its combat effectiveness. Against the air force powers of several military-strong nations, the Drone’s Strength was simply inadequate. Even with the most brute-force tactics, using their airplanes to exhaust the Drone’s ammunition would suffice to weaken and finally kill the Drone, not to mention the missiles and other weapons these military powers possessed—next to them, the Drone appeared insignificant.
But if Yan Fei could not market his Drone Avatar and claim it as his deterring power, then how could he make others fear him? How could he cause them to think thrice before striking at him?
Yan Fei weighed all options but couldn’t come up with any effective solutions for the moment. He began to browse the items in the Drone General Space unconsciously. During this time, he had stored a vast amount of items in the General Space but had never sorted it, making the whole space look cluttered. Suddenly, he spotted more than ten corpses in the General Space.
Some of the corpses in the General Space were those of Assassins Yan Fei had killed at the Yunnan National Border, and several others were the bodies of Al-Assassin assassins he had just eliminated on the cargo ship. When killing these enemies, he had used Steel Ball Bullets. He also used Steel Ball Bullets extensively in Japan, so to prevent others from tracing back to him through the injuries on these bodies, Yan Fei had collected them into the Universal Space. Without the bodies, there were no clues, and he had successfully severed any path that could lead back to him.
Originally, after killing the Assassins at the Yunnan National Border, Yan Fei planned to dispose of the corpses as soon as he returned to Shanghai. However, he was immediately faced with Lu Pingping’s kidnapping, and so he had no time to deal with the bodies. Plus, with the additional bodies of the Al-Assassin assassins killed on the cargo ship, he now had as many as twelve corpses stored in the Universal Space. Yan Fei did not have the morbid habit of carrying corpses with him; now, as he was out on the vast sea, with no villages ahead and no shops behind, it was the right time to dispose of these bodies.
The thought had barely formed in Yan Fei’s mind when, under his control, the Drone Avatar eerily shifted from extreme high speed to a complete halt, showcasing the drone’s formidable maneuvering capabilities. Then, the drone hovered five meters above the sea surface. Yan Fei opened the Drone Cockpit, and with a thought, the assassins’ bodies that he had stored in the Universal Space suddenly materialized out of thin air and dropped into the vast ocean below. As the bodies hit the water, they rapidly sank to the sea floor and disappeared from sight. These assassins and hitmen had probably never imagined that one day, while on a mission, they would be killed and their bodies would end up in the bellies of ocean creatures, never to be found again.
After discarding the corpses and some useless trash from the Universal Space, the Drone Avatar continued its westward journey back, quickly approaching Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. A spark of inspiration struck Yan Fei; under his control, the Drone Avatar silently submerged into the sea near Okinawa Prefecture and began to search for the island’s free WIFI, eventually managing to connect to the WIFI of a bar next to the US Military Base in Okinawa and gained access to the World Network.
Earlier on, Yan Fei had extracted a valuable piece of information from the mouth of the assassin capable of creating an Infinite Loop Space: there existed a Dark Web within the human Network World. This Dark Web specialized in publishing Bounty Tasks and exchanging intelligence for the Underworld, serving as a primary communication platform for the dark forces of the Underworld.
The Drone Assisted Intelligent Brain connected to the Internet, then showcased its powerful search capabilities by scanning for the Dark Web. This Dark Web was highly secretive; not only could ordinary people not find and connect to it, but many hadn’t even heard of its existence. However, with the Auxiliary Brain tirelessly sifting through the minuscule traces left by Underworld individuals on the regular Internet, it actually managed to uncover the enigmatic Dark Web.
Yan Fei successfully logged into the Dark Web and began browsing it as a visitor, where he soon discovered the Bounty Task about himself. The task provided a detailed description of Yan Fei’s profile and promised a reward of one hundred million US Dollars to anyone who could successfully assassinate him. Additionally, the task kept updating his real-time location, which currently showed him to be in Shanghai, although his exact whereabouts were unknown.
Discovering the Bounty Task on himself, Yan Fei felt a chill of fear. A bounty of one hundred million US Dollars was enough to drive people to madness, and he had no idea how many individuals saw him as a ticket to fortune, likely to encounter assassins out for his blood at any moment. However, with his current strength, Yan Fei was not afraid of such common assassins; no matter how many came, they were just easy prey to him.
But Yan Fei couldn’t always be on guard against those seeking to kill him. There was always a thief lurking, but never a permanent guard against one. He wanted to find a way to resolve this issue once and for all. Unfortunately, the Auxiliary Brain was still unable to bypass network restrictions to access encrypted online information, so he remained in the dark about who had issued the Bounty Task. Otherwise, if he could just find out who was behind the task, he could go after them in real life, cancel the task, and then eliminate them.
Having located the Dark Web, Yan Fei skimmed through its postings and found them rather horrifying, as the content was shockingly alarming. On the Dark Web, there were not only various assassination jobs but also listings for nuclear bombs, chemical weapons, highly lethal viruses, and even requests to overthrow the governments of countries. A quick look could give anyone the impression that the world was a very unsafe place. Fortunately, these tasks remained uncompleted; otherwise, if nuclear bombs, chemical weapons, or viruses were leaked, Yan Fei would have trouble sleeping at night.
After browsing through the Dark Web, Yan Fei used the Auxiliary Brain to register an account named “Fei Ping” on it. Registration on the Dark Web was incredibly simple, requiring no personal identification—just a nickname and a bank account were enough. Moreover, the audit process was swift; Yan Fei’s application was approved just five minutes after submission. With the account set up, he now had the permissions to post and accept tasks on the Dark Web.
Yan Fei, using his new “Fei Ping” account, posted a new Bounty Task with a staggering reward of two hundred million US Dollars. The requirement for completing the task was very straightforward: it provided a brief description of the kidnapping of Dream Technology’s General Manager Lu Pingping and demanded her safe rescue. Whoever managed to complete this task would receive a two hundred million US Dollar bounty.
