Chapter 096: Battle with Boss of Instance No. 10 (Part One)

June 24, afternoon at two o'clock, Hongge Amusement Park. Explore stories on empire

The large animal mascot standing at the entrance had openings torn at the eye sockets and corners of the mouth due to wear over time, looking particularly haunting.

The five of them passed the animal mascot and entered, where the park was excessively silent, like a forest forgotten by people, damp and gloomy, with every amusement ride tarnished with rust-like streaks of red.

Fortunately, it was daytime, and the group of five players was together, so they weren't too affected by the sinister environment.

Ke Mingye tucked his hands into the pockets of his jumpsuit, leading the way forward, gradually approaching the pirate ship suspended by layers of struts beneath the swing arm.

This "Pirate Ship" was long and narrow at both ends.

Rustic ornaments adorned the ship in various places, whether it was the tattered sails, the dark brown hull, the swarthy pirate flag, or the skull-and-crossbones riddled with fractures on the flag, all evoking the bygone era of a medieval pirate ship.

Ke Mingye, looking up, said, "I played this as a kid and scared myself pissless."

"Ha, nothing frightens me," said a voice with cold laughter from behind, "I can ride this kind of thing without even blinking."

Today he hadn't wrapped his face with bandages, but he still wore a black hoodie and a pair of black trousers. His face was gaunt and pale, his overly long black hair tied into a ponytail at the back of his head.

You have to admit, the weird guy didn't look bad when he wasn't being bizarre—just needed some tape over his mouth to be perfect.

"That's something for elementary school kids."

Qing Meng said casually, her light blue twin ponytails swaying in the chill wind.

"Aren't these two just elementary school kids?" Fan Quan critiqued sharply.

"Okay, I admit I'm an elementary school kid too." Qing Meng stopped in front of a merry-go-round, confessing honestly, "It's fun, I love it."

"If you like chatting, better do it now. You won't be able to when you're being thrashed in the instance," Cai Bing spoke while playing with his phone, a lollipop clamped between his lips.

As they chatted, they approached the "Pirate Ship" ride. After checking each other's expressions, they reached a consensus and extended their hands to touch the panel.

The moment their five palms pressed down on the instance panel, all the struts of the swing arm shattered thunderously, as if the gears of some massive machine had suddenly jumped off track.

Immediately after, the pirate ship, like a devil released from its shackles, gradually became enveloped in a layer of misty blue ghostly flame. The outline of the ship's body alternated between translucent and indistinct. A faint pirate dirge drifted down from the sky, as if demons were sharpening their teeth and savoring blood.

The huge swing arm and the struts crashed to the ground, kicking up billows of dust.

As the Ghost Ship ascended towards the skies, sixteen eerie figures emerged from the side of the ship, looming down upon the five players below.

Under the bright noon sun, their faces were shrouded in shadow, but one could see the ghostly flames aflame in their eyes.

[The total number of players participating in this instance is five—Man of Failures, Fan Quan, Cai Bing, Paranoia, and Dreams Unclear.]

[The official battle against the instance has now begun, please defeat the instance's Boss—Ghost Pirate Captain—Gliva Chris by any means necessary.]

Ke Mingye's gaze sharpened as he looked towards the pirate captain standing at the edge of the ship, a towering figure roughly two and a half meters tall, standing prominently among the pirates.

[Instance Boss Name: Ghost Pirate Captain Gliva Chris]

[Instance Boss Level: Lv8]

[Instance Boss Introduction:

After experiencing a terrifying sea disaster, Gliva Chris lost all of his crew members as well as his right eye.

Suffering from loneliness and chronic injuries, the vivid memories of death and failure wrapped around him like thorns.

He spent his days in a daze, losing hope in this world amidst shattered liquor bottles and evaporating marijuana.

Like a soul-less puppet, unable to rise again.

One evening, as the tattered Gliva awoke in the street, he knelt, hunchbacked, and lifted his gaze to the huge setting sun.

He remembered watching the sunset on the vast sea with his fifteen crew members.

They sang bawdy pirate songs, watching the sun slowly sink below the horizon, the entire sea returning to calm.

That was the most beautiful sunset Gliva had ever seen in his life.

Coming back to his senses, he found his eyes unwittingly wet with tears, kneeling on the street, bowing repeatedly towards the sunset at the end of the horizon.

"If I reach the hundredth kowtow and still haven't awakened from this nightmare, then I shall end my own life," Gliva thought.

Passersby on the street laughed at the homeless vagrant, yet felt fear at his repeated act of kowtowing towards the setting sun.

The scene was like some solemn and reverent religious ritual that made people stop and watch involuntarily.

Upon reaching the hundredth kowtow, Gliva listlessly lifted his bloodied forehead, gazing at the sky that had turned completely dark; the sun had taken away the last rays of twilight from the earth, and the world grew dim.

He looked around, the streets cloaked in a gray haze, as if mocking him—miracles simply didn't occur. The blood flowing from his forehead dyed his eyes red.

Gliva Chris was utterly disheartened.

He hung his head low, his eyes hollow as he picked up a scattered bottle from the ground, smashed it, and picked up a shard, pressing its sharp end to his throat.

Just as he was about to end his life, a strange voice came from the dimly lit place: "Buy me, and I will take you back to that ocean."

Gliva was stunned for a long time, slowly turning his head to look at the pet shop on his right, where a parrot with rainbow-colored feathers was perched inside a cage, staring at him without moving an inch.

"Are you talking to me?" Gliva asked.

"Buy me, and I will grant your wish."

It was rumored that on that night, Gliva encountered a legendary creature.

In the following month, Gliva, with only one eye left and a bird by his side, returned alone to the world's most dangerous waters and survived.

When he returned, he brought back fifteen of his former comrades; they were not dead but had been stranded on a nearby deserted island.

Every pirate knew what happened later—Gliva Chris became an insurmountable legend of the seas.

Starting from nothing, he rose from the ashes; in just half a year, Gliva's pirate group became the master of the seas.

They called themselves the "Ghost Pirate Group," meaning each crew member had walked out of hell, especially their captain, Gliva Chris.

Even after a century had passed, when all the crew had withered to skeletons and become one with the land,

there was still a rumor at sea—a lonely parrot summoned sixteen souls from underground, sixteen old friends, and their legend continues to this day.]

"This doesn't look easy to beat," Ke Mingye said, predicting failure.

"The key is that parrot," Fan Quan broke it down, "Kill the parrot on the captain's shoulder, and the pirate ship along with those sixteen pirates will disappear."

Ke Mingye turned his head to look at him, "How can you be so sure? Didn't you say you've never completed this instance before?"

"I've never completed it," Fan Quan replied, "but it's quite obvious from the backstory, the Boss's name is just a smokescreen."

"So it's similar to the last instance we did," Ke Mingye commented.

"In short, just blast that parrot, right?"

Speaking of which, Qing Meng took out a Thompson submachine gun from her backpack, and then raised her eyes, her gaze locked on the colorful parrot on the captain's shoulder.

"If I'm not wrong, it should be like this," said Fan Quan calmly.

"Time to transform, Creepy Guy, you're not planning to just observe, right?" Cai Bing put away her phone and glanced at her paranoid companion.

"Like you need to tell me," Paranoid said with a cold snort, taking out a blood-red knife from his pocket and licking his lips, "— Magic Girl, transform!"

As soon as the words were spoken, his body was enveloped in a cocoon of light.

Paranoid chuckled coldly, brushed up his bangs, and right after the cocoon of light shattered, a Magic Girl brandishing a large scythe appeared.

Magical Girl Hongyue lifted her gaze from under her bangs and sneered disdainfully, "Why don't you guys just hang back and idle? I can crush them all by myself."

"Shut it, Creepy Guy; don't dampen the fighting spirit of your buddies."

As he spoke, Ke Mingye pulled out his "Electromagnetic Pulse Gloves" from his bag. Amidst the metallic clinking, the silver-white gloves with a metallic sheen fitted onto the surface of his right hand.

With those words, the battle was on the verge of commencing.

Every cannon mounted on the floating Ghost Ship was aimed at the five people on the land. The next moment, accompanied by a thunderous roar that tore through the sky, an overwhelming barrage rained down!
