Chapter 139: Blue Owl, Right By Your Side

July 6th, evening at half-past eight, Ring 7 Elevated Bridge.

The brilliantly lit city could not spare a single ray of light for this cold and silent elevated bridge, which from a distance looked like a cemetery hanging in mid-air, with each street lamp resembling a tombstone glowing faintly.

Dice Monster was sitting on the railing of the bridge, gently swinging his legs while humming a tune, occasionally lifting his hollow eyes to quietly gaze at the distant Hongdeng Commercial District.

He still held a hot dog in his hand, his fingers slowly rubbing the plastic wrapper, making a slightly grating sound.

Squeak~

Squeak~

Moments later, a sinister figure riding a dark cloud slowly galloped from afar, approaching the Ring 7 Elevated Bridge. The harsh moonlight mixed with the flickering lights slowly illuminated her figure.

She was dressed in a silver and white metal long coat, wearing a monkey mask on her face, with crimson eyes behind the eye sockets, and a silver hood covering her head.

"So, you really can't sit still for a day without stirring up some mischief, can you?"

Black Wukong asked irritably.

Upon hearing this, the gray humanoid figure sitting bent at a corner of the bridge lowered its head, tearing the wrapper with one hand while waving the other at her.

Without turning its head, it said, "How could that be, Miss Sun Wukong? We haven't seen each other in three days, have we? Just as I said, on the fourth of July, your brother would be in trouble."

"But you didn't tell me that my brother is a dragon."

Dice Monster earnestly said, "Everything must retain a sense of mystery. What relationships need the most between people is a sense of mystery. Without it, all relationships in the world would lose their charm."

"Forget about Yongzhu for now, what are you here for this time?" Black Wukong asked.

"Oh, did I come to find you?"

As he spoke, Dice Monster tore off the wrapper and popped the hot dog into his mouth.

Black Wukong stepped off the Somersault Cloud and asked, "Throwing dice there doesn't count as your signal to me? Next time, you could just send me a message, no need to involve others."

"Are you perhaps being a bit presumptuous?"

Black Wukong was silent for a moment, then tilted her hood-covered head and said coldly, "You really do deserve a beating."

"Didn't you see I just had a band of the dead dance there? It was so lively, with flashes going 'click click', and everyone was laughing so heartily."

Dice Monster said while biting into the hot dog, gulping it down greedily, making a "gurgle gurgle" sound.

He struggled to swallow the bread, then raised a finger, "You know, all surprises are based on a contrast—when I told them I was going to carry out a terror attack at Huanjing Tower, they screamed and scattered. But before the countdown ended, I threw that die early. A cute child who thought he couldn't escape fell to the ground, and lifting his tearful eyes, suddenly found... there was his favorite singer, singing that very nostalgic old song right in front of him. What a wonderful gift, one he will remember for a lifetime."

"That's really twisted..."

Black Wukong said, pausing for a moment, "Your dice can't be controlled, can they? How did you know it would definitely be a band? What if it had been a natural disaster instead, how many people would have suffered?"

"No no no, actually I can control my dice."

Having said that, Dice Monster threw away the wrapper in his hand, watching it flutter in the wind, dropping into the neon-lit city.

"Are you sure?" Black Wukong challenged.

"Of course, at least now I can choose the results myself, hmm... it's just that not all those options are good."

Black Wukong crossed her arms, the Jingu Bang nestled between them, "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now, but if you ever really cross the line one day, I will be the first to arrest you."

Dice Monster turned to look at her, "You still don't trust me enough, huh? You could have come here without wearing that battle gear, wearing a cute dress would have been much nicer, I like cute girls."

Black Wukong hung her head and said, "What if someone else came looking for you, like… Magical Girl Ash."

"So, you're not denying that if no one else did, you'd have come in a cute dress to meet me?"

Black Wukong sighed, "If you talk like that again, I'll knock you dead with one strike."

"Sorry, sorry." Dice Monster smiled, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender, "Speaking of which, why would anyone else come looking for me? Haven't you seen how well-behaved I've been lately?"

"Well-behaved?" Black Wukong hesitated, "You mean, harassing those newly-emerged vigilantes under the pretense of 'making friends'?"

"Please, everyone says I'm their nice neighbor, the big brother who performs charitable music programs regularly at Huanjing Square every night."

As Black Wukong's gaze became colder, Dice Monster sighed and changed his tone, "Ah, it's really just making friends, I haven't hurt anyone, right?"

Saying this, he licked his ketchup-stained fingers, "Haven't you noticed it's always them chasing after me to beat me up?"

"Your picture is still up on the association's official website, if they're not chasing you, who else would they chase?"

"That's true, this society does love to label people. Actually, I'm not a criminal, but an artist… an artist who's been deeply misunderstood."
