Chapter 621: Splitting up: A Powerful Presence!
As soon as the orders were given, three shadows leapt from the castle balconies toward the ground where the fight was intense.
The trio quickly sensed the new, powerful presence that had appeared on the battlefield, and their expressions hardened, but not even a semblance of fear could be seen on their faces.
They welcomed the new enemy with open arms.
Drake exhaled slowly.
"They're here."
Valkor grinned, his deep purple flames bursting to life around his fists. "Finally."
The battlefield shifted.
Before, it had been a one-sided massacre. But now? Now it was war. Because Nox had given the order to his subordinates to go all out, they didn't hold back even though a Champion was present.
The first Champion charged straight at Valkor, its claws sweeping wide. But Valkor was already moving, ducking under the swing and countering with a blast of flame so hot the very air shimmered.
BOOM!
The Champion was sent flying into the side of the castle, leaving a massive crater in the wall.
Drake summoned a colossal glacier beneath his feet and rode it upward like a tidal wave. From his vantage point, he could see the remaining defenders gathering at the castle gates.
He didn't waste a second.
"Glacial Tyranny!" he roared.
The glacier beneath his feet erupted into jagged spears of ice that surged outward like a frozen explosion. Dozens of Scourge beasts below were impaled mid-roar, their cries silenced in a flash of blue and white.
One of the champions came from the skies, targeting Elise.
Elise saw the incoming Champion a heartbeat too late—but it didn't matter. After sending the first Champion flying, Valkor quickly intercepted the third.
WHOOSH!
A vortex of deep purple flame shot outward from him, incinerating everything within ten meters. The Champion screamed as its wings melted on contact, and Valkor spun mid-air, bringing his leg down in a flaming arc.
The corrupted beast slammed into the ground with a thunderous boom, its form twitching as the last traces of life evaporated in the flame.
"Thank you," Elise whispered to her friend.
"You're welcome." Valkor chuckled as he stared at his arms in amazement. He couldn't believe his flames had grown so powerful that they could easily take out a Champion-rank Scourge in just a couple of hits.
"Whatever you did to us! I'm grateful—and I'll use this power to obliterate these disgusting creatures." He laughed loudly as he spewed deep purple flames from his mouth, burning through the enemies.
All around them, the battlefield shifted violently.
With the arrival of the Scourge Champions, the clash had turned from coordinated strikes to pure, brutal chaos. Fire, frost, lightning, and corruption collided with devastating intensity.
Valkor ducked beneath the claw of the first Champion he had sent away, his grin sharp.
"This one's sturdier than the last," he muttered, then raised both arms.
"Burning Spiral!"
A flaming purple ring exploded from his body, disorienting the enemy. In that moment, he surged forward, his fists blazing with destructive energy.
BAM!
A single punch shattered the Champion's jaw. The follow-up strike sent it crashing into a Scourge beast behind it. But of course, that attack was too weak to put the Champion down as it immediately rose and charged forward once more, engaging Valkor in a brutal fight.
Valkor was the strongest dragon prodigy in the Dragon Realm. As such, even with the upgrade thanks to Nox, his strength far surpassed the others.
Perhaps the only person that could have measured up to him was Lumi.
At the base of the castle, Lumi and Celestis stood side by side.
The battle raged around them—explosions, screams, and distant clashes filled the air—but neither flinched.
Behind them, the Omega Team moved like clockwork. Water and Light dragons moved through the chaos, throwing out healing bursts and barrier spells nonstop.
Lumi raised her hand.
A glowing orb shot into the air above the frontline and pulsed. The light spread instantly, calming the injured, strengthening the weak, and lifting the morale of everyone who saw it.
Celestis didn't wait. A split second later, she slammed her staff down.
Splash!
A wall of water surged up just in time—Tidewall—blocking a rain of corrupted attacks from the rear line. It broke, but she was already countering.
Shhkkk!
Dozens of water arrows ripped through the air, striking enemies clean through their armor.
"We hold the line," Celestis muttered, eyes fixed ahead. "No matter what."
They weren't there to dominate.
They were the lifeline.
And thanks to them, Alpha Team was still standing. Omega's role was clear—and they weren't letting anyone fall.
'At first I thought he assigned us this role because he considered us weak, but I was wrong,' Celestis inwardly thought. 'He considered all things.'
"I sense the aura of three Champions," Lumi suddenly said out of the blue. "But I can see only two."
Celestis's eyes snapped to the battlefield and glinted. The little girl was right. One of the Champions had been defeated, the other was still in a fight with Valkor—but the last one...
No matter how she looked around, it was nowhere to be found—and this made the girls worried.
---
Back inside the castle.
"Earth Prince," Nox called back.
"Yeah?" the man replied, his hands glowing faintly with brown aura as he kept a feel on the terrain.
"Any vibrations ahead?"
The Earth Prince paused, pressing one hand to the ground. A deep silence followed as he focused. Then his eyes opened again. "Something big is ahead. Feels like… a cluster of strong beings. Multiple."
Nox nodded slowly.
"Let's be careful from here on out," he muttered. "No more flashy kills."
The others agreed silently.
They moved forward, this time slower and tighter. The castle's interior became more grotesque the deeper they went.
They took a few turns and soon came across two Scourge Champions.
The Champions were easily dealt with by Nox.
[Champions Defeated: 2/20]
[Commanders Defeated: 2/10]
He smirked faintly. "Eighteen to go."
The group of four continued to head deeper into the castle. They encountered a few more corrupted dragons who didn't pose much of a threat.
After some time, when they arrived at two opposite hallways, Nox said, "I think we should split up to cover more area. You three take the right—I'll take the left."
"Only you?" Zara frowned, her brows furrowed.
"I'll be fine. Not to sound cocky, but if anyone has a chance of surviving, it's me. So focus on yourself and be careful."
After some hesitation, Zara reluctantly followed Nyxirith and the Earth Prince while Nox turned his focus to the left hallway.
There, he could feel an aura unlike anything he had ever felt in his life.
It was the reason why he chose this hallway—because he had a hunch the Alpha was that way.
