Chapter 666: The Other Side...?

'Why… why… why was this town so difficult to take over!' The demon general's thoughts spiraled in disbelief, his entire body trembling in frustration and shock.

He had heard of the countless failed invasions. Several high-ranking demons had tried and fallen here. He thought he would be different. He thought he would be the one to succeed, to finally break this stubborn barony and bathe it in demon fire.

But instead…

The portal was gone.

His army was faltering.

The humans were pressing forward with renewed vigor.

And worst of all, from the corner of his eye, he saw it.

His daughter. His precious daughter.

Bleeding.

Her sword arm had been severed, her lifeless body falling to the ground under the human's final, brutal strike.

"No… no… NO!!!" the demon general roared.

"YOU BASTARD!" he howled, his crimson eyes locking onto Theo.

In the next instant, the general abandoned his fight with Nathan, who was still grinning madly despite his injuries.

"Oh? Running away? I'm not done with you yet!" Nathan cackled, his body igniting with flames as he prepared to chase.

But the demon general didn't care.

He leapt across the battlefield, his massive frame bulldozing through both demons and humans alike, heading straight for Theo.

Theo, who had just driven his blade through the demon girl's heart, felt a shiver crawl down his spine. He looked up—only to see the raging monster barreling toward him like a meteor.

'Crap!'

Boris's eyes widened as well. He quickly kicked a member of the Flaming Rose aside and charged towards his son.

"Stay away from my boy!" he shouted at the top of his voice, but his heart sank when he saw the demon general drawing closer.

'No... no no no!'

Time seemed to slow down.

Theo's breathing hitched. His body was drained from the intense fight with his opponent, and the speed the demon general was rushing at him was simply too fast to dodge.

His hands trembled as he slowly raised his sword—it wouldn't be enough to stop that thing.

But he would die fighting.

Suddenly, a streak of blue and red flame cut across the sky.

BOOM!

The demon general was forced to halt as a figure descended in front of Theo, his body crackling with flame.

Nathan's grin widened as he arrived, blood dripping from his knuckles.

"Did you really think I'd let you touch any of my grandson's friends?" Nathan spat, stepping forward as his aura flared wildly.

The demon general growled, miasma swirling violently around him. "I'll tear you apart, human!"

"Try it," Nathan hissed, slamming his fists together.

At the same time, Boris arrived before the general, along with Aina.

It was now three against one.

The demon paused and looked around.

His men were being slaughtered.

The enemies—they were unlike anything they had faced before.

There were humans, dragons, and ants.

'I'm sorry, Emperor… I have failed you,' he mumbled under his breath as he slowly fell to his knees.

"I... I surrend—"

"Surrender in hell, stinking vermin!" Aina sneered as her blade flashed, severing the demon general's neck.

After witnessing their general's fall, the demons became disorganized, running in all directions.

The dragons, ants, and humans gave chase, slaughtering anyone that stood in their path.

"Hahahaha! Long live Cromwell Barony!"

"Long live Cromwell Barony!"

No one knew who started it, but chants began to erupt among the soldiers as they chased after the fleeing demons.

Nathan's eyebrow twitched as he saw this scene. It would be a lie to say he didn't feel proud, but he knew it was not time to celebrate yet.

The war was not over.

Meanwhile, in the Armstrong Duchy,

Nox and Jared slowly made their way into the large plaza.

All around them, demons and members of the Flaming Rose were still squirming on the ground.

"How long are they going to be like this?" Nox asked curiously.

Jared replied, "For 30 minutes."

They needed to be fast then.

Looking at the building in front of them—it was over three stories tall—they would need to go from room to room to check it out.

With the way it was guarded, Jared was confident that there was something important inside.

Opening the front door, Jared threw in some of his seeds again. A few minutes later, they heard choking sounds.

As soon as the sounds stopped, they entered, stepping into what appeared to be a hallway. Without hesitation, they began to check the rooms one by one.

They split up to cover more ground.

The first room Nox stepped into was filled with demons who seemed to be in the middle of making love with one another.

Instantly, a disgusted expression appeared on his face. "Gross…"

Without hesitation, he drew his sword and swiftly slit their throats one after the other as they remained paralyzed, unable to resist.

"Tsk, even in death, you stink," Nox muttered as he stepped over the corpses and continued his search.

They moved swiftly, clearing each floor room by room.

So far, they hadn't encountered any resistance, nor had they found anything useful. Of course, they took full advantage of the demon paralysis state to kill every single one they came across.

Some time later, they arrived at the last floor, in front of a door chained with thick iron chains.

"They couldn't make it any more obvious," Jared commented.

Nox narrowed his eyes. "It could be a trap… I know a way to check it out. Wait for me here."

As he finished speaking, Nox activated Phantom Cloak, immediately turning invisible and passing through the wall.

Jared's eyes widened in amazement when he saw the skill. After all, invisibility-type skills were rare, and anyone who possessed one could make a huge difference on the battlefield.

With the skill active, Nox quietly slipped through the wall and stepped inside the room. As soon as he did, his attention was caught by a bright light shining intensely in the far corner.

Nox's eyes lit up. It was an activated demon summoning portal.

However, the only difference was that no demons were coming through.

"I was wondering what the other side looked like," Nox thought, a wild idea slowly appearing in his mind.
