Chapter 1829: A demonstration would help quite a bit.
"As I said, my Law allows me to strengthen my Army. The higher the number of soldiers in my army, the greater the effect of my Law.
With your million-strong army, I can strengthen your Protectors to be able to survive against a Low-Level Sovereign. I will boost their strength to the level where, if around five High-Level Protectors worked together, they would be able to take one Low-Level Sovereign."
Ember spoke, and she wasn't done yet.
"Think about it:
Every single Low-Level Protector of your army would be able to take on even a High-Level Protector.
Every five High-Level Protectors of your army would be able to fight a Low-Level enemy Sovereign.
Every Low-Level Sovereign of your army would be able to take on a High-Level enemy Sovereign.
As for the High-Level Sovereigns, under my commands, as long as a Primordial doesn't step in front of them, they will be unstoppable—able to take on even multiple Sovereigns at the same time.
Honestly, when I say there will only be 250,000 casualties, I am considering the worst-case scenario: where the enemy has a trump card none of us know about, a highly advanced bomb, weapons made by a high-level blacksmith, or something else.
I am talking about the case where the enemy highly outclasses you in any way possible. However, if the enemy's strength is as you say, then with my Law, I doubt there would be more than 50,000 deaths.
But to do that, what I need is for your army to surrender to me. For my Law to work, I need every single soldier in your army to accept me as their Leader—the Army General with Absolute Command."
Those were heavy conditions. Leaving the command of their army to a woman they met just a few minutes ago was an absurd notion.
A notion the Velcria Leaders would have rejected in an instant if the conditions Ember presented in return weren't so absurd.
A victory with less than 50,000 casualties?
All of it honestly felt like a fantasy that none of the leaders could believe.
"Stop the bullshit," the Stoneborn Leader, Kaelgran, snorted out loud.
"Your Law allows you to strengthen your Army? Do you even realize how absurd that sounds? Are you telling us to believe that you are a war resource that can turn around any war's scenario just with your mere presence?"
Kaelgran's tone was extremely condescending, and while they didn't say it out loud, it was clear that Liora and Elaris thought the same.
Of course, the way Liora worded it was much more… leader-like.
"If you have such a Law, I assume you have experience in leading soldiers?" Liora spoke as she stared at Ember.
"I do." Ember nodded confidently.
"Then you, out of all people, should know that the soldiers won't treat you like a true general just because we tell them to.
The soldiers are not mindless robots who would do anything they were told to. They would have questions, they would have doubts.
They would need reason to fully trust you, they would need reason to put their lives in your hands and do what you tell them to.
And the only person who can create such trust would be…
You."
Hearing her words, Ember's grin widened.
'I knew she was the smarter one out of the three,' Thyra commented.
'Mhm, she is indeed.' Rune nodded as well.
'I have no clue why that talking rock is in this room.' Aisha chuckled.
'It's because he is strong.'
Astaria's answer was quick.
'But he is also dumb.'
'It doesn't matter. He is still a Primordial.'
The women just shrugged.
Ember, on the other hand, nodded at Liora.
"I understand.
How about you gather your army, and I will try to gain their trust. If I succeed, I will become their Leader. If I don't, well…
Then you can declare this mission to be a failure and hire some other mercenary party."
"Are you going to stain your otherwise perfect record?" Elaris raised her eyebrow.
"Who said I am going to fail?" Ember chuckled.
"I like your confidence." Elaris nodded with a smile.
The Sylvanix Leader started liking this woman despite their bad start.
"Thank you, Lady Elaris." Ember bowed lightly.
"How about this? There are nine of you, correct?
We will gather nine of our strongest Sovereigns, and you all will face them in a group battle with you as your party's Leader.
It will be a good demonstration of your strength and your Law.
If we do this in front of our army, and if you people win, you might win the soldiers' trust." Elaris suggested.
Ember, however, shook her head, rejecting her idea.
"That would be too unfair."
"Heeh? Weren't you confident about winning even against Primordials just now? Chickening out already?" Kaelgran questioned with a wide grin on his face. Clearly, he was mocking Ember.
Ember, however, remained emotionless and,
"I was talking about your soldiers.
A battle against us would be too unfair for them.
We would win even if I do not use my Law."
Ember declared confidently.
"It won't prove anything, so let's not waste time."
Ember wanted to continue, but,
"No, please, I insist."
Kaelgran interrupted.
He had had enough of this woman's arrogance.
That proud tone of hers, he didn't like it one bit.
Therefore,
"I want you to fight our strongest soldiers. I assure you, it would have a great effect on our soldiers.
It would also help us introduce you with more ease." Kaelgran spoke; his words finally sounded somewhat leader-like.
Ember glanced at Liora, and the Seraphyte nodded as well.
"A demonstration would help quite a bit."
Ember then glanced at her sisters, especially at Astaria, and seeing the wide grin on her face, she sighed in defeat.
"Alright, we accept."
Kaelgran's grin widened. What he completely missed was the grin on Astaria's face, which was even wider than his.
Soon, however, Astaria's grin disappeared as Ember laid out her commands.
'Rune, you will be taking on all nine of them.'
'Okay.' Rune nodded, not putting much thought into it. However, not every person was as nonchalant as the catwoman.
'What!? Why!? It's clear that they want all of us to fight because they want to see our strength! And Nux told us not to hold back anymore; it is a perfect opportu—'
'Astaria, I do not plan to kill them.
The last person I want those poor soldiers to face is you.' Ember spoke, and before Astaria could retort,
'I agree.' Thyra nodded.
'Me too.'
'Mhm, she cannot be allowed to go all out.'
'Yup, too monstrous.'
The rest of the women nodded, agreeing with their General's decision.
'Sister Star… I am sorry, but I am on Sister Ember's side today…'
