Chapter 312: Before the connection with the Avatar was lost
"With this speed, we'll get to the right place quickly," Yara shared her calculations, once again clarifying the distance they had to cover.
Idan was pleasantly surprised. This modified jet had tremendous speed, and according to his calculations, it was moving much faster than if it were flying on its wings.
"At this rate, we'll get to our destination quickly, and I haven't had time to fully recover yet," sighed Idan.
He was glad that he had met the members of the Red Fox group. Without them, he would have had to fly all the way by himself, and who knows if he would have made it on time or not. However, all this joy was overshadowed by the behavior of the leader of the Red Fox group, who, like a shadow, pursued Idan, not leaving him a single moment of peace.
"Hey, Ethan, do you want a drink? We have our own collection of drinks on the plane," Hailey said, sitting next to him and not taking her eyes off him. She had a sweet smile on her face.
The rest of the girls in her group couldn't believe their eyes, looking at a completely different person in front of them. This was not their leader, but a real impostor.
Idan once again looked at the girls for support, but each of them just shook her head, refusing to interfere in the situation, which annoyed him very much.
For some reason, all the girls started avoiding him, leaving him alone with Hayley. However, they would give him strange looks from time to time.
"No, Hailey, I don't want to drink," Idan refused, then, ignoring her next question, he turned his attention to the System window, where there was a pendant, the cost of which was 750 System Points.
"System, purchase the pendant and place it in the storage next to the sword," Idan asked without hesitation. He found what he was looking for and decided to purchase it immediately, regardless of the cost.
The headache caused by the mental attacks of outsiders has not completely disappeared, but its intensity has decreased. Now Idan could think normally and analyze past events.
"Oh!" Suddenly, Idan felt his blocked connection with Ned restored.
"Belle has succeeded!" Idan rejoiced, but his joy was replaced by anxiety. "So she's already started!"
Through the restored connection, Idan turned to Ned with a request and, having received instant consent, activated the unique Avatar ability that he and Arabel acquired after signing the first contract with the "Perfect Doppelgangers".
The uniqueness of this ability was that it only worked with "Perfect Doppelgangers."
"It's an amazing feeling to be in two places at the same time," Idan muttered, exchanging information with his avatar as soon as he used his ability.
"What did you say?" she asked, suddenly hearing him mutter. Idan flinched in fright, momentarily forgetting that he was on the plane in the presence of other people, and not in the village where his avatar was now.
"I need to get used to this," he thought.
"The situation is much more serious than we thought," Idan said, referring to Yara, who temporarily led her group. "The portal to another world is already open."
"What?" all the girls were surprised. They exchanged glances, and Yara, quickly regaining her composure and calming down, asked:
"How did you know about this?"
Before Idan could respond, Arabel asked him to share half of his current stats. He agreed without hesitation and immediately felt weak from losing half of his strength.
"I have a connection with my girlfriend," Idan confessed, trying to get used to his weakened state. He decided not to mention Ned. "Besides the fact that the portal is open... around him, the restriction of the world has loosened and..."
Before Idan could finish, Hailey grabbed him.
"What did you say? Has the restriction of the world loosened? Does that mean there are creatures above the gold rank?" Her red eye shone with excitement as she asked this question.
"Yeah. At least there are six platinum—ranked creatures there," Idan, a little puzzled by Hayley's unexpected behavior, confirmed her guess.
Hearing this, the five girls swallowed hard.
"Should we go there?" asked Nimuka, and upon hearing her, everyone turned their gazes to Hayley, their faces clouded.
"Ha ha ha ha! Finally, worthy opponents!" exclaimed Hailey with obvious delight.
"After that, I will apply to change the group! If they refuse me, I will leave the Guild," Uvasha complained. The other girls, although they did not express their opinions, were in complete agreement with her words.
They had already suffered enough under Hayley's guidance, and each time her behavior became more strange and dangerous. Unlike her, who possessed a rare System, they were only possessors of ordinary Systems. And although all the girls didn't want to die following their mad leader, they didn't see any other way out.
"Hey, Ethan, maybe you could... well... take the Leader with you after all this?" one of the twins, Sarah, innocently suggested with a naive look. The other girls were surprised, and then their eyes lit up:
"Why didn't we think of that!"
"No!" said Idan decisively, without thinking about Sarah's request.
All the girls' faces immediately turned sad. Hailey, who was in high spirits after hearing such a refusal, froze.
Suddenly, Idan clutched his head. The pain that had almost subsided returned with renewed vigor when a strange energy touched his Avatar, severing their connection, as well as Idan's connection with Ned.
Idan began to breathe heavily, which greatly frightened everyone present.
"What happened?" asked Yara.
"What's wrong with you?" asked Hailey, who came to her senses after seeing the sudden change in Idan's condition.
"System, what just happened?" Ignoring the girls, Idan turned to the System first.
[Host. The connection of this System to the second Host is lost], was the response of the System, which made Idan freeze in horror.
"But how? What happened?"
[The outsider leader used some kind of item to sever all ties within a certain radius], the System explained.
"Damn! Damn! Damn!" — Idan began to swear, overcome with panic.
"What's with the avatar? I don't feel any connection with him. Has he disappeared?" he asked, not hiding his concern.
[The avatar is a product of a unique ability. It doesn't have the same connection to this System as the Host, but it does have a similar connection as the creatures you tamed. Therefore, the Avatar will exist even after losing contact with this System and you, the Host, until you personally dispel it or until he dies," the System responded to its Host's concerns.
The System's response only reinforced Idan's belief that his Avatar's ability is unique and hides many secrets that are unknown to him.
Recently, before the connection with the avatar was lost, Idan discovered something amazing and inexplicable. He and Ned did not have time to figure out the mechanism of this phenomenon, as a sudden event severed his connection with the avatar, and he could not find out all the details.
Only now did Idan realize that he had used the Avatar's ability himself, without the help and mediation of the System. He and Arabel had received the knowledge of how to use this power after signing the contract with Ned, when this knowledge had automatically entered their memory.
Now, knowing that his Avatar's existence was independent of the System, Idan was confident that he hadn't disappeared and was still there with Arabel.
