Surrendering To The Ravishing Sins

Chapter 3: Chapter:3 Frozen In Darkness

I saw Amelia and Lyra walking together, talking about something between themselves.

My eyes were fixed on them, and I was still in a good mood. I took a deep breath, holding my lunch plate in my hands. But then, I placed it on the counter near their plates as they came running toward me. I chuckled…

And then—

A piercing scream shattered my ears.

Darkness engulfed my vision in an instant.

I clutched my hands over my ears as the world around me faded into nothingness.

When I opened my eyes again…

I found myself in complete darkness.

A thick, suffocating fog of shadows surrounded me.

"Is... is someone there? What just happened to me... just now?"

Silence.

A deafening, hollow silence. No sound, no movement—just endless darkness stretching around me.

I tried to take a step forward, but it felt like the darkness moved with me, swallowing every inch of space I tried to claim.

"Amelia...? Lyra...?"

Has someone kidnapped me?

But then, the thought itself felt absurd. How could anyone possibly abduct me from the crowded cafeteria of my own university? And even if they had… where was I now? This place was nothing but endless blackness.

How did I even get here?

I remembered hearing that scream. I remembered Amelia and Lyra running toward me. I remembered closing my eyes for just a second, and when I opened them… I was here.

Had I fainted? Yes… maybe I had passed out.

But then why was I still here? What's this place?!

"Where am I?!" I screamed, my voice trembling, my breath hitching. Tears welled in my eyes as panic set in.

I didn't care if someone heard my screams. In fact, I wanted someone to hear them. I wanted someone to step forward and tell me what was happening.

But even if they did… would I even be able to see their face in this suffocating darkness?

"Elena, calm down..." I whispered to myself, but I couldn't. No matter how much I wanted to stay strong, I just couldn't.

Because my entire body was trembling.

It's not like I was terrified of darkness—at least, not usually. But this darkness… this silence… it was different.

Even in the darkness of my childhood, at least my uncle and aunt were there. Their laughter, their cruel words—I could hear something.

But here… there was nothing.

As if I wasn't even alive anymore.

What is this?

Why is this happening?

Why me?!

"WHY?!" I screamed into the void, but the silence swallowed my voice whole.

"Elena, you aren't dead… No one just dies like this…"

Something is wrong. Something terribly wrong is happening to me.

"I have to… I have to…"

But my breath hitched. My chest tightened, and my vision blurred—not that there was anything to see in this suffocating darkness.

Panic clawed at my lungs, stealing the air from them. My legs gave out beneath me.

And before I could fight it…

I collapsed to the ground.

"What do I do...?"

Before I could even process my thoughts, my fingers brushed against my ear.

Something wet. Sticky.

A liquid… but I couldn't see it in this darkness.

My hands trembled as I hesitantly touched my ear again, checking with my fingers. Something was leaking from it.

Blood?

A sharp, unfamiliar pain clenched at my chest. It wasn't just physical—it felt like something deeper, something wrong.

My breath hitched. My body felt heavier.

And then—

I collapsed on the floor again.

Everything faded.

But it didn't matter whether my eyes were open or closed.

Because all I could see… was darkness.

Lyra: "Amelia… what happened to her all of a sudden?! And why does our university staff never do anything on time?! Where is the doctor?!"

Just then, the infirmary's caretaker, Mrs. Russell, rushed in.

"Step aside, kids, let me check. The doctor has already been called, but some things take time. Yes, I know we need them immediately, and they're on their way. Until then, we have to monitor Sofi closely."

She quickly checked Sofi's pulse.

Amelia, still shaken, spoke up, her voice trembling.

"She… she collapsed all of a sudden in the cafeteria. Everyone was shocked. Some boys and teachers helped bring her here to the infirmary."

Tears welled up in Lyra's eyes.

"She was happy, completely normal. We were joking around, about to have lunch together…"

Her voice cracked.

"But before we could even reach her… this happened?! Why?!"

Mrs. Russell let out a sharp breath.

"Listen, we don't know what happened. But Sofi is unconscious… her breathing is stable. She's the only one who knows why she collapsed, but she can't tell us right now. That's why we need to wait for the doctor."

Amelia, her voice breaking into a sob, cried out,

"But her body stiffened just now before u came! In her unconscious state!"

Lyra nodded anxiously.

"Yes! We saw it!"

Mrs. Russell's eyes widened in alarm.

She immediately turned to the teachers and urgently asked them to call the doctor again.

Meanwhile, moments before…

Author's POV

_____________

Sofi was unconscious… but she wasn't alone.

Her friends were there.

The teachers were there.

When she collapsed in the cafeteria, everyone assumed it was just weakness or dehydration. So, they brought her to the infirmary, thinking she just needed rest.

But then… something changed.

A few minutes after Sofi was laid down on the infirmary bed, her body started stiffening.

She didn't move.

She didn't make a sound.

At first, Amelia was just worried. But when she saw Sofi's body going rigid, she panicked.

Tears streamed down her face.

The other students noticed too. Fear spread among them. They rushed to call the teachers.

Lyra, trembling, grabbed Sofi's hands.

"Sofi… wake up! Please!"

Tears slipped down her cheeks as she watched her best friend lying there, motionless.

The sight sent shockwaves through the room.

When the teachers arrived, they immediately tried to adjust Sofi's position, trying to see what was wrong. They waited for her to react, to say something—anything.

But there was nothing.

No voice.

No movement.

Mrs. Russell arrived shortly after. She examined Sofi carefully.

At first, she didn't think it was anything too serious.

But then Amelia, still crying, spoke up—her voice shaking with fear.

"But...her body stiffened just now before u came! In her unconscious state!"

The teachers exchanged worried glances.

Sweat lined their foreheads.

Something wasn't right.

End of author's pov..

Everyone in the infirmary was tense, eyes fixed on the unconscious girl. Concern hung thick in the air until the door opened.

Dr. Luna Welles stepped in, calm but focused. "Step aside. What's her name?"

"Sofi," Professor Liam said. "She fainted suddenly in the cafeteria. Her friends might know more."

As Dr. Luna examined Sofi, her expression darkened. "This isn't a normal fainting spell," she murmured.

Amelia and Lyra exchanged worried glances. "She started stiffening," Amelia said shakily. "Her whole body… it was like she was frozen."

Dr. Luna's concern deepened. "Her pulse is faint but stable. No injuries, but her body's cold. It's like her mind is trapped somewhere."

"She has nightmares," Amelia admitted. "She wakes up screaming sometimes."

Dr. Luna asked about Sofi's past, prompting Lyra to share how they met in an orphanage. "She never talked about her family. She said she had no one."

"She worked hard to get here," Amelia added. "But she's always bottled things up."

Dr. Luna sighed. "Stress like that can manifest physically. Her mind likely overloaded."

After administering an injection, Dr. Luna instructed them to monitor Sofi and bring her to the clinic when she woke up. "This wasn't just stress. Something deeper is going on."

Once the doctor left, Professor Liam reminded them of their classes. Amelia hesitated, but Lyra offered to stay with Sofi.

Later, with only Lyra and Mrs. Russell by her side, Sofi stirred. Sweat beaded on her forehead, her fingers twitched—and finally, her eyes fluttered open.

"This… is the infirmary?" she asked, dazed.

Lyra gently held her shoulder. "Yeah. You fainted, Sofi. You're safe now."
