Chapter 30 - Blocking the Door, Caught in the Act

Chapter 030: Blocking the Door, Caught in the Act

“It’s not impossible to pack them up,” Mu Liang muttered, contemplating the tomato vines. A solution came to mind.

Through telepathy, he conveyed his idea to the Red Ghost Spider:
“Little Red, wrap the tomato vines into a big cocoon.”

“Squeak, squeak~~”

The Red Ghost Spider began spinning silk, skillfully weaving the vines into a large cocoon.

In ten minutes, the entire tomato plant was encased in a white cocoon.

“Good job.”
Mu Liang nodded in approval, then turned his attention to the dome.

Next, he needed to open the dome to create an exit for the Three-colored Lizard.

“First, let’s block the door.”

He gathered some stones, carefully placing them on the ground door until it was entirely sealed.

Bang, bang~~

Despite his caution, the stones made a slight noise, alerting the guards outside.

“Hey! Did you hear something inside?”
“I heard it too. Did you?”
“But there shouldn’t be anyone in there.”
“Could it be someone sneaking in to steal?”
“Don’t be ridiculous! We’ve been guarding here. No one could’ve gotten in.”
“Too bad we don’t have a key. Otherwise, we could check inside.”
“Are you crazy? Last time someone peeked inside, the boss killed him.”
“Uh… I was just joking.”

Eventually, the guards dismissed their concerns, unable to enter without a key.

“…” Mu Liang listened to their conversation, thinking they might try to open the door.

Grabbing a spear, he moved to the dome’s edge and began prying it open without restraint.

Bang, bang, bang…

The noise was so loud that even deaf guards couldn’t miss it.

“What’s that racket inside?”
“Damn it! Someone’s inside stealing!”
“Go alert Blood Knife! Someone’s in the boss’s cultivation room!”

Ignoring the commotion outside, Mu Liang swiftly created a three-meter opening in the dome.

Patting the Three-colored Lizard’s head, he instructed, “Little Cai, take everything home and return for another load.”

Hiss, hiss…

The Three-colored Lizard, carrying twelve small barrels, activated its invisibility and climbed down the hillside.

“Time to pack more.”

Using spider silk, Mu Liang bundled dried meat. There was never too much food.
Water wasn’t a concern, thanks to the Crystal Fish. He decided not to take all the miscellaneous items due to limited beast strength.

“Little Red, take some meat to a hidden spot far from here.”
He summoned the Red Ghost Spider to transport the bundled meat.

“Squeak, squeak…”

The Red Ghost Spider, obediently carrying the meat, reached the cliff’s edge. Utilizing its Hundred-Thread Manipulation, it lowered the bundles.

After sending down a batch, it climbed down to retrieve more.

Meanwhile, Blood Knife, Blood Beard’s son, arrived at the door.

“What are you standing there for? Break it down!”
Blood Knife barked, his face dark with rage. “I want to see who’s got the guts to steal from us!”

Bang, bang, bang…

The guards began smashing the door.

Mu Liang glanced at the shaking pile of stones. The door, buried under a mountain of rocks and webbed in silk, would take hours to clear.

“Feeling hungry. Let’s roast some meat.”

He dismantled tables for firewood and began grilling meat.

Sizzle, sizzle…

The aroma of roasting meat wafted through the air, reaching the guards. They froze, their expressions turning strange.

Stealing and cooking? Bold.

“You bastard! Break that door now! First one through gets a barrel of water!”
Blood Knife roared furiously.

Even he had never dared grill meat in the cultivation room. Enraged, he barked orders.
“Guard the suspension bridges. No one gets through.”

The guards, wielding torches, secured both ends of the bridges connecting the hills.

Meanwhile, the hooded figure, hiding behind a shadowed rock in the valley, noticed the lit bridges.

“Is it him? Did he get caught?” she wondered.

Watching the bridge without movement, she grew more uncertain.

“Is he inside the central hill? Or not?”

With the thieves now alert, sneaking in later would be harder.

“I’m running out of time,” she muttered, touching her cheek in frustration.

Raising her gaze, she noticed white strands swaying in the wind on the hill.

“What’s that?”

Curiosity piqued, she stealthily approached. Her eyes widened as she spotted a two-meter spider transporting cocoons.
She tightly covered her mouth, suppressing any sound.

She hadn’t expected a beast nearby.

Rustle, rustle…

The wind stirred the air. She saw more cocoons dangling from the hill.

Frozen in place, she speculated, Are those cocoons… people?

After lowering all the cocoons, the Red Ghost Spider began transporting them out of the valley.

“Should I follow it?” she wondered.

“No, it might expose me.”

Shaking her head, she dismissed the idea.

“This could be my chance.”

Gazing at the swaying spider silk, she considered using it to climb the hill and access Blood Beard’s treasure vault.
