Surviving as an Idiot in a Horror Game

Chapter 8

The inside was a completely different world.

As soon as we entered, hordes of monsters began swarming towards us in groups.

'Did the number of monsters increase this much because it became reality instead of a game?'

It wasn't easy from the start.

And while these dungeon monsters showed killing intent towards us, they targeted the Crown Prince first.

"Your Highness! Th-there! Watch out behind you!"

Max tried hard to shield the Crown Prince.

"Lady April, follow us carefully!"

Yeniel also surrounded the Crown Prince protectively along with Max.

But there were too many.

Green monsters reminiscent of orcs or goblins came rushing in, exuding black poison.

As they got closer, you could see the dungeon floor and walls corroding from the poisonous smoke flowing from their breath.

"Everyone, dodge! I'll summon an offensive spirit I have! Sheiflin!"

At Cyan's call, a fierce wind blew.

Sharp attacks formed like semicircular blades and poured down on the monsters. A rain of death.

All the monster swarms surrounding us were soon slaughtered and lying on the floor.

As if the powerful attack had consumed a lot of magical power, Cyan frowned for a moment while catching his breath. He covered his mouth with his hand and then removed it, as if feeling nauseous from the sensation of taking lives.

"Leferel. Push these away with the wind."

Even though the wind spirit pushed away the poisonous smoke and smell of blood, the stench of blood still wafted over.

Yeniel and Max also covered their mouths, but the Crown Prince seemed used to it.

"Thank you, Cyan."

When we pass through one area, another area with different types of monsters appears. Monsters that look like pitch-black lizards.

These monsters, which mimic human voices, made sounds like human screams when they were cut down by Cyan's spirits.

After passing through two or three areas, we were given a brief rest space.

It felt like a real fantasy dungeon, but true to being a horror game, it was full of bizarre and chilling elements.

Kill, kill, rest, and kill again.

How long had we come in like that?

As we walked, keeping watch on our surroundings, we eventually arrived at a huge cavern.

A faint rotten smell, pitch-black darkness that ordinary people wouldn't want to step into. An eerie and sticky floor.

If I had claustrophobia, I might have gone berserk, demanding to get out of this enclosed space immediately.

"Why is it so wide and dark here?"

Attendant Max muttered, trembling.

Until now, it had been normal for various monsters to appear, but their numbers gradually decreased and now they didn't appear at all. As if the monster in this place was a dangerous kind even to other monsters.

Suddenly, a huge shadow fell over our heads.

A very large spider, as if several people were combined, came down silently above us.

Its red and bizarre compound eyes rolled, staring at us. An eerie spider cry was heard.

Yeniel bit her lip as if in a predicament.

"Your Highness, it's a demonic beast! A corrupted minion summoned by a demon!"

Looking closely, large cocoons covered in pure white threads were scattered here and there on the surrounding ground.

When our eyes became completely accustomed to the darkness, we could see the floor we were stepping on.

Spider webs on the floor too. White threads.

And what I thought were stones...

"Aaaaah!"

Advisor Cyan turned pale and stepped back.

They were all bones. Human skulls and hand bones, or leg and rib bones I couldn't recognize.

Besides that, there were several dried-up large corpses of monsters we had seen in this cave, tied up in spider webs.

'...I remember now.'

The section where this big spider appears. Content where spiders two or three times Yeniel's size keep chasing from the spider webs above.

The main content was to give thrills as Yeniel, with her slow movement speed and health, was almost caught in the chase.

I thought it was just a monster that gave fear through visuals.

But an unexpected event was happening.

The ground shook and the cocoons scattered on the surrounding ground began to tear.

What appeared inside were several baby spiders.

They were called baby spiders, but they were as big as a person's forearm.

While we were distracted by the baby spiders, the huge spider that had been above our heads had already come down to the ground. With a thud.

It came down. That spider.

'What's happening?'

All we had to do was run away.

The entire group desperately started running.

"Which way should we go?"

At the Crown Prince's shout, attendant Max pointed to the path ahead.

"Th-that way!"

The area we would come out to after escaping this section. That place was made up of high stairs.

The stairs lead to a white building above that looks like a temple.

"As Lord Max said...! That way, it is!"

Yeniel, running breathlessly, also nodded in agreement.

'Huh?'

As I ran towards that direction, avoiding the spider, I realized that my body was moving naturally.

The memory of pressing keys with my fingers moved my body.

Maybe because it's reality, there were variables like suddenly charging or collapsing the ceiling with crying sounds. Baby spiders also appeared from under the ground.

But-

'What, this is easy...?'

As I kept running, I gradually became familiar with those sudden variables and started to predict the route. In other words, I could see the so-called pattern.

'If I act too leisurely, it'll look suspicious. It's like I'm the mastermind who set the trap.'

I avoided the suddenly appearing baby spiders inconspicuously.

I moved from positions where I wouldn't get hit, wondering how I could look like I was also desperately running away.

At that moment.

"Lady April!"

Unexpectedly, Cyan called my name and suddenly grabbed my hand.

"Why are you standing there stupidly! Run! Hurry!"

No, I could avoid most attacks if I stayed here.

Nevertheless, I ran as Cyan led me, without resistance, as if I had really become April.

An area without spider webs can be seen far away.

Since the spiders try to move only on spider webs even on the ground, it should be safe if we go there.

The problem was one small baby spider that pounced on the Crown Prince.

"Your Highness! In front...!"

The Crown Prince immediately raised his arm to block the baby spider that pounced upon hearing Yeniel's urgent cry, but it was too late.

Along with the baby spider's screeching cry, the Crown Prince let out a low scream.

The Crown Prince was hit.
