Swallowed Star: The Sacred Eye of Duplication

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Australian Continent

It was August, and the Australian continent's weather contrasted sharply with that of the Eurasian continent. The temperature outside was a chilly 4 degrees Celsius, but this had no effect on Ye Yun. He focused on a specific location on the satellite map and moved swiftly.

Ye Yun planned to locate the mountains first, using them to determine the direction of rivers and lakes. He wasn't sure how his plane's position differed this time from Luo Feng's, so he didn't limit himself. Any mountains that met his general criteria fell within his screening range. Combining this with factors such as rivers and lakes, Ye Yun identified four potential locations to investigate.

Traveling through the Australian continent's core hinterlands, human structures were scarce. Before the Great Nirvana, most of the population had lived along the east and west coasts, leaving the interior as a haven for wildlife. Over the years, this area had become home to numerous monster groups, including some exceptionally powerful individuals.

Ye Yun maintained an extremely high speed and didn't stop along the way. Although he encountered many monsters, they were either too weak or too numerous to meet his standards. He continued toward the first mountain range on his list.

For Ye Yun, covering several hundred kilometers took less than half an hour, even without running at full speed. Arriving at his destination, he remained in peak condition, having expended little energy.

The mountain range before him wasn't very tall, and its slopes were gentle, but its vast stretch made it an impressive sight. Without pause, Ye Yun ventured into the mountains. Each step spanned dozens of meters, and natural obstacles were effortlessly overcome. He moved swiftly, carefully surveying the region for useful information.

After more than ten minutes, Ye Yun reached the mountain range's heart and spotted a large, dark cave in the rock. The cave entrance was ominously deep, with its interior obscured by darkness.

The cave's central location in the mountain range was intriguing. Ye Yun had seen various monsters along his journey, but none near the cave. He hypothesized that a lord-level monster must reside here. If not, the cave might even house a king-level monster.

Ye Yun hesitated briefly before leaving the area. A few minutes later, he returned, holding a pure white rabbit in his hand.

The rabbit had smooth fur, a petite body, and appeared harmless, but Ye Yun's firm grip on it revealed its strength. The rabbit, a high-level beast general known as the Australian White Rabbit, was unique to the continent. Despite its wide distribution and large population, individual strength varied greatly.

Approaching the cave entrance, Ye Yun hurled the terrified rabbit into the cave. Ignoring its panicked cries, Ye Yun blocked its escape and drove it deeper inside. The rabbit's fear was palpable; it clearly wanted nothing to do with the cave and would have fled had Ye Yun not been behind it.

From the rabbit's reaction, Ye Yun was certain that monsters above the lord level resided in the cave. However, their exact strength remained unknown.

The rabbit moved cautiously, making almost no sound. As it ventured deeper, the cave grew darker until visibility vanished entirely. Suddenly, a sharp cry from the rabbit was cut short, as if something had silenced it instantly.

Ye Yun immediately became alert, gripping his spear tightly. The rabbit's quick demise signaled a formidable opponent. Sensing his surroundings through the spear, Ye Yun detected movement and reacted instantly, spinning the spear behind him to block an attack. The impact revealed multiple targets—at least three.

Remaining calm, Ye Yun quickly gauged his opponents. Though their exact numbers were unclear, he determined they weren't king-level monsters. At most, they were high-level lord monsters—foes he could handle.

After months of rigorous training, Ye Yun's physical abilities had reached the high-level War God tier, allowing him to face such opponents with confidence. Although the cave's darkness posed challenges, his mastery of artistic body movements enabled him to adapt.

Fighting cautiously, Ye Yun retreated toward the cave entrance. As light filtered in, he finally saw his attackers: four massive wolves with dark gray fur, thick tails, and golden tufts on their chests. These were Australian Timber Wolves, a rare and powerful species.

The wolves were impressive, each nearly the size of a bull. Two were primary lord level, one was middle lord level, and the tallest, most majestic wolf was high lord level. Ye Yun felt excitement rise within him; these were worthy opponents for honing his skills.

The Australian Timber Wolves were fast and coordinated, applying far more pressure than the 100 wild bulls Ye Yun had faced earlier. Despite their numbers, Ye Yun carefully calculated his movements, retreating strategically to the open mountain area.

Once outside, the wolves followed, undeterred. Ye Yun unleashed his full strength, using his spear and body skills to fight the wolves in an elegant and deadly dance. His artistic techniques allowed him to anticipate their moves, and as the battle continued, he became more comfortable countering their attacks.

The fight exhilarated Ye Yun. It was an opportunity to integrate his training into real combat and refine his techniques further. In contrast, the wolves began to falter. Their coordinated attacks couldn't overcome Ye Yun's superior strength and skill, and the high lord wolf bore the brunt of the battle to protect the others.

Although the battle seemed perilous, Ye Yun controlled every aspect of it. The longer the fight lasted, the more he gained—both in skill and in confidence.
