Chapter 1404: Documents That Could Destroy the Kingdom

"Have you found anything?" Oscar asked, entering a room where Noel and Incetta remained.

Noel casually pointed to the documents on the table. "Although we haven't sorted it out, there's something interesting among them."

"Hmm?" Oscar furrowed his eyebrows. "Something interesting?"

"Yeah. Just check it. It's over there."

Oscar squinted his eyes. He moved toward the desk, looking at the top of the documents among the piles of paper they managed to clean up.

In just a glance, Oscar understood what Noel was talking about.

"This is…" Oscar took a step back. "The record of nobles' involvement with the Supreme Devil Organization?"

Noel only shrugged, looking away.

"…" Oscar understood what Noel was talking about. If this information were to be released, there would definitely be a lot of problems.

On the one hand, it looked like they could catch the nobles with these documents. On the other hand, there were simply too many names.

If this record was ever published, the kingdom might collapse.

A lot of nobles would become traitors and be executed. That alone wouldn't be enough to destroy a kingdom, but the moment the citizens lost trust in the kingdom and the nobles, they would raise their blades and point them toward them.

It was basically something that could raise a coup d'etat. The moment Oscar used the documents as a weapon, he would be able to take over the kingdom.

The same applied to Noel. It showed how powerful these documents were.

The kingdom had declared that all members of the Supreme Devil Organization could be killed on sight, so the fact that the kingdom had been cooperating with them alone meant they had betrayed that very trust.

That was why Noel didn't say much about this document.

Oscar gulped down while turning his head to Noel. "You're not going to use this?"

"I told you previously. All the documents we've found related to the Supreme Devil Organization will be yours. I have collected what I want, so I'll help with packing up the rest for you. I couldn't care less about anything else."

"…" Oscar's expression turned solemn. The question would be how to use this weapon.

On the other hand, Noel couldn't help but give him a stern warning. "Don't forget that this might also be a trap from the organization."

"A trap? What do you mean?" Oscar crossed his arms.

"By using it as a weapon, you can do a lot of things. However, the kingdom will collapse, giving a huge chance for the organization to do a lot of things as well.

"If we're not united, we might not be able to fight against so many demons all at once."

"!!!" Oscar's body shook. That was right. If the kingdom collapsed, they would have a hard time stopping the organization.

This time, they could find out which nobles were assisting the organization. But if they were purged, the last trace they had to the organization would be destroyed.

At that time, no one could tell what would happen next.

"So, you're saying…"

Noel shrugged. "I'm just giving you a warning. I don't have any intention of stopping you. I still believe that my city will remain normal. That's all."

Oscar pinched the bridge of his nose. "These documents are giving me a headache. For now, I will just bring it back and sort it later."

There was also another problem that Noel didn't mention. The fact that they raided the organization would be known to those nobles.

They would end up panicking, thinking that their secrets had been revealed. To save themselves, they might try to do anything to stop the army.

Even if Oscar said he didn't get anything, they wouldn't believe him.

That was why Noel originally wanted to work together with the Demon Banner Army.

This way, the one they targeted would be Oscar. Meanwhile, Noel would remain quiet the whole time, acting as if he didn't know anything about it. He would just tell them that he got the inheritance and the rest of the items had been given to Oscar.

He followed his agreement, meaning that he was freed from people's suspicion. Of course, Noel didn't plan to stay quiet either.

There were a few things he could do with this information, but for the time being, Oscar would be the one taking everything head-on.

To fight against both the Third Prince and the organization, he had no choice but to fully focus on this matter. With the nobles' shifting their attention from him to Oscar, Noel could finally do a few things he had originally planned to do.

Noel said, "In any case, I've fulfilled my agreement. I'll be helping you in transporting the documents from other rooms.

"Then we'll burn this place and bury it so that no one can return here. What do you think?"

Oscar's expression turned grim. "That's fine by me. I don't really want to bother with this place anymore. If that's enough to put everyone out, we should do that."

Noel nodded.

Once they reached an agreement, Noel and Incetta left the room and regrouped with Laufey in another room as they began to pack up everything they could find.

There were a lot of documents, so sorting it alone would take at least a few weeks. On the other hand, Noel didn't care much about the documents. Of course, Noel had another use for these documents.

It might not be real, but Noel could ask Laufey to write it again later for his other plan.

He thought it would be a good time to finally strike back at the royal family. However, it could only be done once Duke Lorelei returned.

To avoid the situation where a lot of people knew about the contents of the documents, they didn't bring in normal soldiers to help, even though they had confirmed the cave was safe.

Meanwhile, Noel and Laufey had one more place to visit. It was a room that Laufey accidentally found, but that room contained one of the commanders that once served his ancestor. Although a thousand years had passed, he thought he should pay his respect to that elder.
