Tales of demons and gods: Ultimate Villain

Chapter 11: Ch 11 Once again, becoming a good student.

Shen Fei stood at the entrance of the grand library, his sharp gaze sweeping across the towering bookshelves that stretched endlessly. He knew he couldn't read every book here—at least, not yet. For now, he only had permission to access the basic section, which was mainly reserved for alchemist apprentices and beginner alchemists. But that was enough.

'Before taking the apprentice and alchemist exams, I need to master everything in this section,' Shen Fei thought, his determination unwavering.

Even though this was only the basic section, it contained countless more books than the entire Sacred Family Library. The sheer wealth of knowledge here was staggering.

He walked up to a random bookshelf and scanned the neatly arranged tomes. Without hesitation, he pulled out ten books, stacked them in his arms, and carried them over to a nearby table. He sat down, placed the books before him, and glanced around.

The vast library was eerily quiet, with only a handful of people immersed in their reading. The silence made the grand hall seem almost deserted.

'Good, fewer distractions,' he thought.

Satisfied, Shen Fei opened the first book and began reading. His fingers moved smoothly as he flipped through the pages at an astonishing speed. His eyes darted across the text, absorbing everything. Within moments, he had finished the first book. Then, the second. Then, the third.

Minutes passed.

By the time five minutes had elapsed, he had already read all ten books.

"Not enough," he muttered under his breath.

He got up, returned the books to the shelf, and pulled out twenty more. Again, he sat down and sped through them.

His unnatural reading speed soon caught the attention of others in the library. Several alchemists and apprentices looked up from their books, frowning in confusion.

"Is he… actually reading?" one of them whispered.

"Impossible. He's just flipping through the pages. No one can read that fast," another scoffed.

"Hah, probably some young master from a noble family pretending to study," someone else sneered. "What a waste of space."

Hearing their hushed comments, Shen Fei smirked but didn't bother responding. He continued flipping through book after book, his speed only increasing.

Minutes turned into hours.

Book by book, shelf by shelf, he absorbed knowledge like a sponge.

After four hours of continuous reading, he had already finished nearly 7% of the books in the basic section. He finally closed the last book, took a deep breath, and stood up.

"That should be enough for today," he mused.

As he walked out, the receptionist at the front desk noticed him and immediately bowed slightly.

"Thank you for visiting, young master Shen Fei," she greeted him with a respectful tone.

Shen Fei nodded but didn't stop. The moment he stepped outside, the bright sunlight hit his face, and he exhaled slowly.

Chi Bong was already waiting for Shen Fei after completing the task assigned to him. The moment he saw Shen Fei stepping out of the Alchemist Association, he quickly trotted forward, bowed respectfully, and presented a storage ring containing the materials he had been instructed to purchase.

Shen Fei took the ring without a word and left the courtyard of the Alchemist Association, with Chi Bong quietly following behind.

As they entered a deserted alley, Shen Fei suddenly stopped and turned around. His crimson eyes glowed faintly in the dim light.

"Tomorrow, at the same time, when I walk out of the Alchemist Association building, I want you to bring all my subordinates who can come," he commanded in a low yet authoritative voice.

Chi Bong's heart surged with excitement. He was already loyal to the death due to the slavery inscription that bound him to Shen Fei. If the same fate awaited the others, it meant they too would become completely devoted to their master.

Bowing deeply, he replied with unwavering obedience, "Yes, Master."

"Now, go handle your tasks." Shen Fei dismissed him with a flick of his hand and headed back toward the Sacred Family Mansion. Chi Bong, having received his orders, immediately left to inform the others about the upcoming meeting.

By the time Shen Fei arrived at the Sacred Family Mansion, the sky had begun to darken. Without wasting any time, he made his way back to his room.

He glanced at the hourglass on his desk.

"Still three hours until dinner."

Deciding not to waste even a moment, Shen Fei sat cross-legged on his bed, closed his eyes, and began cultivating his soul force. A faint, mystical energy surged around him as he focused on enhancing his strength.

Time passed in silence.

A soft knock on the door interrupted his meditation. A maid's voice followed, gentle yet respectful.

"Young Master, it is time for dinner."

Shen Fei opened his eyes, exhaling softly as he ended his cultivation session. Without replying, he dismissed the maid with a wave of his hand. Then, he quickly freshened up, changed his clothes, and headed to the dining hall.

When Shen Fei entered the dining hall, he saw Shen Xiu and Shen Yue already seated at the table, silently eating their meal. That was expected.

However, his eyes slightly narrowed when he noticed Shen Hong, his father, sitting at the head of the table.

"What is this bastard up to now?" Shen Fei thought, his expression neutral but his mind wary.

Without hesitation, he took a seat next to Shen Xiu, and the maids immediately served him food. Tonight, however, there was no teasing Shen Xiu as usual, making the atmosphere feel oddly serious.

A few minutes passed in silence.

Then, Shen Hong spoke, his piercing gaze locking onto Shen Fei.

"Where have you been all day?" His deep voice carried an air of authority.

Shen Fei calmly swallowed his food before replying, "Father, I was at the Alchemist Association Library studying."

The room fell into silence for a brief moment.

Shen Xiu and Shen Yue froze mid-bite, exchanging incredulous glances.

"This lecher… studying?" Shen Xiu thought in disbelief.

Shen Yue, on the other hand, smirked and openly mocked him. "Oh? Is there a new beautiful apprentice at the Alchemist Association who has caught your eye, brother?"

Shen Fei ignored the provocation and continued eating, unfazed.

However, what happened next shocked both Shen Xiu and Shen Yue even more.

"Good," Shen Hong nodded approvingly and then asked, "I've heard that the library's access is restricted based on an alchemist's rank. Do you want me to speak with President Gu Yan and have him grant you full access?"

Shen Xiu and Shen Yue's eyes widened in disbelief at Shen Hong's response.

"What…?" Shen Xiu almost choked on her food.

"Father is actually supporting him?" Shen Yue was equally stunned.

It took them several moments to recover from their shock.

Shen Fei, however, remained composed. He placed down his chopsticks and then nodded.

"Then, I'll trouble you, Father," he said smoothly, a hint of amusement flickering in his eyes.

Inwardly, he sneered: 'The advantage of having a powerful background… I'll use it fully. Unlike some idiots.'

"It's good to expand your knowledge, but never forget that strength is what truly matters," Shen Hong said, his tone firm and authoritative. His sharp gaze settled on his son. "Do not neglect your cultivation."

"Yes, Father," Shen Fei responded obediently, though a hint of arrogance flickered in his eyes.

Shen Hong leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. "How is your progress with the secret techniques?" he asked in a low voice.

A smirk curled on Shen Fei's lips. "Quite well, Father. I've already mastered one and even tested it on a person. The results were… rather satisfying." His voice carried a sinister undertone, laced with pride.

Shen Hong's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, though he concealed the flicker of surprise in his heart. 'It took me nearly a year just to grasp the fundamentals of those dark techniques,' he mused internally. 'Yet Shen Fei has already succeeded in mastering one? His talent for the forbidden arts is remarkable… Perhaps, next time I meet Long Sha, I should request even more advanced techniques.'

"Good," he said evenly, though his mind was already racing with possibilities. Without another word, he rose and strode out of the dining hall, his long robes trailing behind him.

Shen Fei remained seated, his smirk widening as he turned toward Shen Yue, who was watching him with an amused yet skeptical look.

"When did you start focusing on anything other than women, Shen Fei?" Shen Yue asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Shen Fei chuckled, leaning back leisurely. "I've always been a diligent and gifted individual. Don't insult me with your baseless assumptions." His tone was playful, yet his smirk held a hint of contempt.

"Hmph." Shen Yue scoffed, clearly unsatisfied with the answer. With a cold snort, he stood up and left the dining hall without another word.

Now, only Shen Xiu, Shen Fei, and a few maids remained. Shen Fei glanced around before waving a hand dismissively. "Leave us," he ordered, his voice indifferent.

The maids bowed and hurried out, leaving only two behind. Once the room was mostly empty, Shen Fei turned his gaze toward Shen Xiu. His expression shifted into something unreadable, yet a glint of amusement sparkled in his eyes.

"Don't you want to ask, Aunt?" he said, his voice smooth and teasing.

Shen Xiu merely snorted, her cold demeanor unwavering. She continued eating, pretending as if she hadn't heard him.

Shen Fei's smirk deepened as he leaned in slightly. "I'd be more than happy to tell you… if you ask nicely," he murmured, his gaze turning increasingly brazen as he studied her body.

Shen Xiu's chopsticks paused for the briefest moment, but she quickly resumed eating, completely ignoring him.

Shen Fei chuckled under his breath.
