Chapter 182: Chapter 97: Battle of the Witchcraft (2 / 2)
The butterfly-shaped stain on Kunji's skull represented the souls of the dead. The black mist surrounding him seemed to be the Ghost King he had summoned. Now, I was facing a true life-and-death crisis. The powerful vengeful spirits could only be dealt with by performing a grand ritual; there was no way I could handle them on my own.
Wang Yi's face muscles contorted, and I saw tiny worms wriggling through the red blood flowing down. Kunji sneered, saying, "When have I, the witch, ever used straightforward methods? When I entered, I placed the maggot on top of the door. To die by the mouth of the strange insects of the Li tribe, you could call it a kind of luck."
The black mist wailed in agony, morphing into a falling form that attacked Wang Yi. Kunji's skull began to change color, turning from gray to yellow as he spoke, "You should blame yourself for interfering. Let me deal with you first."
The skull's jaw began to grind, and I could even hear a sinister laugh echoing from it. But Wang Yi stood up suddenly, gripping his Seven Stars Sword with one hand. His eyes, tiny and sharp, seemed to speak more than his words: "I, Wang Yi, the 107th leader of the Maoshan sect, a disciple of the secret lineage of Maoguzhen, have lived thirty years in vain. Though I have no son, I have one, but this son took my fortune. Until I met my grandson from the same sect. This is heaven's will—heaven does not want my lineage to end. If you wish to kill him, then step over my dead body!"
Kunji scoffed, "Do you still have the ability to resist?"
Wang Yi gave a cold hum, suddenly pulling out three silver needles from his waist and quickly stabbing them into the top of his head. At that moment, I lost all hope. This was Maoshan's life-or-death technique—the Exploding Yang Curse. Silver needles are used to pierce the top of the head, stimulating hidden body potential, burning away life force to unleash the Yang energy.
Wang Yi's neck bulged with veins, a sign that the Yang energy was being activated.
In Maoshan arts, Yang energy is seen as a force to suppress evil. The Exploding Yang Curse releases all the Yang energy in the body, making it capable of overpowering all malevolent forces, but it comes at the cost of the practitioner's life. I wanted to shout, but I couldn't manage a sound. I watched as the parasites that had been living on Wang Yi's body fell off, like they had been exposed to some kind of agent.
A tiny caterpillar crawled out of his nose, and Wang Yi swiftly crushed it. Then, with both hands forming seals and stepping on the Heavenly Star position, he pointed his Seven Stars Sword at Kunji. At that moment, I heard thunder, and a streak of green light hit the black mist, overwhelming it and destroying the so-called Ghost King.
"You dare destroy my ghost offering!" Kunji screamed in fury. His three divine spirits erupted in anger as he yelled, raising the skull and chanting rapidly. Countless malevolent spirits of men and women appeared, wailing and bearing sharp fangs, rushing toward Wang Yi with the intent to tear him apart.
In an instant, Wang Yi's once shrunken figure grew towering and formidable. He danced his Seven Stars Sword, pushing back the vengeful spirits. Kunji continued to shout, "Let's see how long you can hold out!"
Wang Yi sneered and inhaled deeply. Using his Seven Stars Sword, he slashed open his own palm, drawing a symbol in the air with his blood. The vengeful spirits retreated, and then Wang Yi began to recite Maoshan's most powerful attack spell, the Five Thunder Sword Curse:
Jade clears the blue, true talismans bind,Pushing the energies, merging them as one.Five thunders, five thunders, urgently converge,Misting transformation, thundering with lightning,Respond to the call, swiftly releasing the Yang's voice,The trigrams strike, shaking the earth,Hurry, hurry, as the law commands.
A thunderous sound reverberated through the air, and the spirits dispersed. Even the skull in Kunji's hands cracked, and a green light shot in through the window, heading straight for Kunji, who was now trembling in fear.
With a deafening crash, the skull shattered. Kunji spat blood, but to my astonishment, he managed to withstand the blow. I then realized something was off. His face was covered in strange tattoos, like those of a totem, similar to the symbols I had seen on Fu Wei. This marked him as one who had connected with ancestral powers.
Unfortunately, he didn't die. The Five Thunder Curse had terrified him, causing him to vomit more blood as he fled from the hospital room.
Watching Wang Yi slowly collapse, I couldn't hold back my tears. I couldn't even press the emergency button to summon the doctors, for to ordinary eyes, it seemed like nothing had happened. The room looked exactly as it had before, except for the scattered food containers.
I don't know how long I cried, but suddenly the door opened. I was so excited, thinking a doctor had arrived. But when I looked again, it was none other than Cao Shiyu returning!
