Chapter 23: No mercy

The cigarette burned low between Jin's fingers, its ember glowing faint against the backdrop of the night. The cold wind swept away the ash as he took one final drag and exhaled slowly, eyes fixed on the worn-down building ahead—cracked concrete walls covered in graffiti, the dull hum of machinery behind rusted steel doors, and the occasional muffled shout.

Zero's second-last workshop.

One month, Jin thought, crushing the cigarette beneath his boot. One month of healing. One month of pain and grit. One month of tearing Zero's empire apart, piece by piece.

He had raided the docks, burned down his caches, flipped his distributors, and turned half his lieutenants into ghosts. Only two operations remained. One stood before him. The other, buried deep within Zero's fortified high-rise. But that was for another night.

Tonight, the board gets lighter.

Inside the Workshop – 11:47 PM

The steel door blew open with a thunderous clang.

Jin pulled the trigger at the guard without hesitation HEADSHOT—one guard down before the alarm could even sound.

Motherfucker always sound alarm even if i let them go . Jin look at the guard face finding it familiar , maybe one of the one who he let go and later join the gang again . only those are the one remaining now . i better be through this time , they each have already get there chance's to ditch the work and run .

He advanced like a shadow, the faint sheen of his hardened quirk rippling across his skin like living armor. His tactical gear soaked up the darkness. Every step was deliberate. Controlled. Lethal.

From behind a support pillar, he waited.

Two thugs exited a side door coming to check the noise from earlier , rifles loosely in hand.

They never saw him coming.

Jin lunged, grabbed the first thug by the collar and yanked him forward. His other hand twisted the man's arm until it snapped at the elbow with a sickening crack. The man shrieked—cut short by Jin driving an elbow into his face.

The second panicked, firing blindly—and hit his own partner.

Jin ducked low, brought up his pistol, and squeezed the trigger. The round struck the shooter clean in the temple. His body crumpled. Jin let the other one drop beside him. Two down.

He moved on.

Corridor – 11:49 PM

Gunfire erupted from down the hall—three more ahead, firing from cover between steel beams. A tight corridor. Narrow line of sight. Poor lighting.

Perfect.

Jin weaved laterally, eyes sharp. He grabbed a metal stool with one hand and hurled it down the hallway. It clanged loudly, drawing attention.

He peeked out—fired two precise shots. One body dropped. Another flinched and staggered, clutching his shoulder.

Jin discard his empty gun ,Jin charged forward.

The Fine man raised his rifle. Jin didn't stop , He bring his harden arm up . A bullet struck his raised forearm—numbness followed . Hardened muscle soaked the impact. Jin powered through and kick the Injured man as he try to aim his gun at jin , in stomach . He move to another guy disarmed the man with a wrist lock, and shoved the barrel into his gut.

Bam! Point-blank. Done.

The Injured man fired wildly as he keep retreated, screaming, "Monster!"

A round grazed Jin's cheek. He winced but pressed forward, dodging between crates. He returned fire—dead center. The thug dropped instantly.

One last man Hiding . Jin found him from his eartic breathing .

Jin grabbed the back of his collar, yanked him down, and slammed his face into the corner of a crate. Blood sprayed. Down but alive .

Four more down.

Interior Workshop – 11:55 PM

The inner chamber reeked of oil and chemicals. Old piping, rusted catwalks, and half-functioning machinery cluttered the floor.

Two more appeared around a corner, automatic weapons barking.

Bullets whizzed past. One struck Jin's forearm, another grazed his thigh—painful, but nothing fatal.

He dropped behind a thick rubber hose, then vaulted forward. One thug raised his weapon—Jin rammed into him, shoving him into a nearby chemical drum. The splash hissed and burned. Screams echoed.

The second attacker swung wildly.

Jin ducked low, swept his leg, and sent the man crashing down. A swift downward punch shattered his jaw.

Crack.

Behind him, another shot rang out.

He twisted just in time.

The round slammed into his shoulder—it felt like being hit by a brick. His hardened skin absorbed the blow, but pain still flared.

No time to hesitate.

He rolled, spotted a wrench, and picked up with his hand , mid-motion.

The shooter scrambled to reload.

Too late.

Jin dashed forward, wrenched the rifle from the thug's hands, and smashed the wrench into his teeth.

Once. Twice.

The man collapsed, blood leaking from his mouth.

Jin dropped him.

Near the Center Room – 12:02 AM

Jin turned a corner—and froze. Movement flickered in the edge of his vision.

He dove behind a forklift just as a shotgun blast tore through the space where he'd stood. Shards of drywall exploded.

He peeked out. One man with a rifle. Beyond him, the heart of the drug operation—lab tables, crates of chemicals, rows of glass vials.

The man lowered his weapon.

"Come on out!" he barked.

Jin slowly rose from cover, keeping his breathing steady, watching the man's hands.

The man stepped forward, barehanded now. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Blonde streak in his hair. A scar down his cheek.

"My name's Siegfried," he said, cracking his knuckles. "And I'm going to defeat you with these hands."

Jin arched an eyebrow, still catching his breath. "Siegfried? That's a mythological name, isn't it?"

Siegfried grinned. "Exactly. I'll surpass the original —and it starts with you."

Jin tilted his head. "Why me?"

The man's face darkened. "I heard Toji beat you black and blue. As his successor I want to do the same. Maybe even better."

Jin straightened. "Siegfried, as far as I remember, wielded a sword."

That struck a nerve.

The man's eyes flared. "YOU BASTARD! For you, I don't need a sword. These fists are enough!"

Jin took a stance. Shoulders squared, weight shifted forward. A small smirk tugged at his lips.

"Bad with sword ?"

The Guy scream and move toward Jin .
