Chapter 2: Chapter 2: the party ll
Emily and Jane walked into the club, they were immediately enveloped in a wave of excitement and energy. The place was crowded and lively, with people dancing and laughing all around them. The music was loud and pulsating, and the lights were flashing and colorful. Emily and Jane couldn't help but feel a thrill of anticipation as they made their way through the crowd.
Jane, being the more outgoing of the two, took the lead and navigated through the sea of people with ease. She spotted one of the managers of the club, a tall and imposing figure with a friendly smile, and made a beeline for him. "Hey, Mike!" she exclaimed, waving him down. "We're here for Davis' reservation."
Mike, the manager, smiled and nodded, and gestured for them to follow him. He led them through the crowded room, expertly weaving in and out of the throngs of people. As they walked, Emily couldn't help but notice the familiar faces of their classmates from back in school. There was Sarah and Edna, laughing and chatting with a group of friends, and Tom and Alex, dancing and spinning to the music.
As they approached the reserved table, Emily's eyes widened in surprise. The table was filled with all of their closest friends, including Davis, who was grinning from ear to ear. "Hey, guys!" he exclaimed, standing up to greet them. "I'm so glad you could make it! We've got a whole crew of people here tonight."
"Yah sure we do" Jane said with a hug
How are you doing Emily" Davis hugged her excitedly, "I was a little scared you won't attend my party"
"why won't I" Emily returned the hug happily
" I know Jane had to drag you here, you are always busy and am glad you came" Davis smiled holding a glass of wine
Emily laughed and playfully rolled her eyes. "Hey, I'm not that busy, Davis. And Jane didn't have to drag me here, I wanted to come. I wouldn't have missed your party for the world."
Davis grinned, relieved that Emily had made it to the party. "I'm glad you're here, Emily. You're one of my favorite people, and I was worried that you'd be too busy with work to attend."
Emily smiled and hugged Davis again. "I'm always happy to take a break from work to spend time with friends. And I have to say, I'm loving the music and the atmosphere here. You've done an amazing job with the party, Davis."
Davis beamed with pride, happy that Emily was enjoying the party. "Thanks, Emily. I'm glad you like it. I was hoping to create a fun and lively atmosphere, and it seems like I've succeeded
Davis have always had a crush on Emily since high school and finally got the chance to tell her in college but Emily had to turn him down because she wasn't ready for a relationship and she didn't see Davis romantically. Every one close to them where aware of this and since then, they have been some akwardneIn their friendship. It was still obvious Davis still have feelings for Emily .
As Emily and Davis chatted, a tall slim tender looking girl walk in. " "That's Mira" " what is she doing here" Emily murmur
Emily and Mira have always being at odds since highschool, Mira was known to be a bully and always pissed Ella off
"Look who we have here" Mira said walking up to Emily
"Who would have thought someone like you will be the part type, nerd"
"I never knew you had class, I always see you as some lowlife bitch Mira insulted" taking a sip from her champagne
Emily's eyes narrowed, and her face tightened with anger as she gazed at Mira. She could feel her heart racing, and her fists clenched at her sides. She had always disliked Mira, and it seemed that Mira's condescending attitude hadn't changed since high school.
"Wow, Mira, it's great to see that you're still as charming and classy as ever," Emily said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'm surprised you didn't trip on your own ego on the way in."
Mira smirked, seemingly unfazed by Emily's jab. "Oh, I see you're still as bitter and insecure as ever," Mira retorted. "I'm not surprised you're hanging out with this crowd, though. You've always had a thing for people who are beneath you."
Davis, sensing the tension between the two women, stepped in, trying to diffuse the situation. "Hey, Mira, it's great to see you," he said, extending a hand. "Why don't you join us and catch up?"
By this time everyone in the room were paying attention to Mira and Emily's little banter, they all know about Mira's act of creating trouble and looking down on the weak. And Emily was no exception.
It all started when Emily won the title of most beautiful back in high school. Mira wasn't happy about it, she has always being the winner and that was how they became enemies.
Sarah walk up to Emily trying to calm her down but Mira's next sentence wasn't nice
But Mira ignored Davis, her eyes fixed on Emily's. "I don't think so, Davis," she said, her voice cold. "I don't want to be around someone as toxic as Emily. She's always been a poison, and I don't want to be infected."
Emily's face burned with anger, and she felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. She was about to respond, but Jane intervened, stepping in to calm her down.
"Hey, let's not let Mira get to us," sarah said, placing a hand on Emily's arm. "We're here to have fun, not to engage with someone as negative as her."
Sarah was right she shouldn't react to Mira's nonsense but the anger in her wouldn't subside
Davis, sensing the tension, stepped in, his voice firm but calm. "Mira, that's enough," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "There's no need to be rude or hurtful. We're all just trying to have a good time here."
"Hmm well am also here to have a good time but seeing this face just ruin my mood", Mira glared at Emily. I'm sure you haven't change a bit, she continued staring at Emily's outfit with eyes full of envy
"Actually, Mira, I've done quite well for myself," Emily said, her voice steady. "I have a good job, a great group of friends, and I'm happy. Which is more than I can say for you. You're still stuck in the same old mindset, bullying and belittling people to make yourself feel better. It's pathetic."
Mira's face reddened with anger, and she took a step closer to Emily. "How dare you," she hissed. "You think you're better than me? You're just a nobody, Emily. A nobody who will always be a nobody."
Davis, who had been watching the exchange with growing unease, stepped in. "Hey, Mira, that's enough," he said, his voice firm. "You're not welcome here if you're going to insult my friends. Why don't you just leave?"
The others murmur in agreement after all It was a birthday party, and Mira wasn't invited in the first place
Mira's eyes flashed with anger, but she seemed to realize that she was outnumbered. With a sneer, she turned and walked away, leaving Davis and the others sigh in relief
"Sorry about that," Davis said, turning to Emily. "I didn't know she was going to be here."
Emily shook her head. "It's not your fault, Davis. Mira's always been a bully. Emily concluded trying to subside her anger
Jane who was busy ordering drinks, watched the banter from across the room, came over to join Emily and Davis. "What was that all about?" Jane asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"It's okay, I need to get a glass off drink. Emily said walking out of the room
"Ehn wait, I already brought drinks!" Jane called out but Emily was already out of the room
"Just let her be, I guess she need some space to calm down" Sarah said helping Jane with the drinks
"What did that Mira girl say again!"Jane exclaim angrily her eyes fixed on davis
Davis shift back with a confuse look , giving Jane " am not Mira" stare
