Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Leona Evangelion
Nightstrider was the name I decided on after returning to the inn and having a dream about my family. I woke up with tears in my eyes, which I quickly wiped away. After buying some supplies, I left the town straight towards the Old Grove. As Nightstrider galloped down the grasslands, a scream caught my attention. I steered the horse towards the scream. We entered a clearing where around 110 knights were fighting off 200 skeletons . I pulled out my bow and notched an arrow. On instinct, I poured my magic into the arrow; the tip shone bright green. I let it fly-it struck the ground in the middle of the skeletons, exploding with gale-force winds and destroying a good chunk of the skeleton army. i fired one more arrow destroying the rest of them wich left me tierd The leader of the Knight, I presume, approached me with a warm smile. He was an elderly man in his early 50s with black hair that was beginning to grey. He introduced himself as Dion Lionheart. They were Knights of Dawnshire, which was the Human Kingdom . Then, a young woman a couple of years younger than me came out of the carriage. She was gorgeous; she had long blonde hair, light purple eyes, and a heart-shaped face. She curtsied, and the knight introduced her. She was Leona Evangelion, the Princess of the Human Kingdom. I bowed slightly; it's a pleasure to meet you, my lady. I introduced myself: my name is Aelthas Lightsekker . After they explained to me that they were escorting the princess to the Elven Kingdom-she was betrothed to the Crown Prince of the Elven Kingdom-I decided to join them since I was going there as well . After they all thanked me profusely and praised my skills, I was left blushing when the prince kissed my cheek.
[2 Hours later ] The sun was high in the sky as we made our trek to the Old Grove. I was asked by the princess to join her in the carriage, but I politely refused as I preferred being on the back of Nightstrider. We continued to travel until the sun was beyond the horizon . That was when we were met by an elven escort; there were 100 of them, all on horses . They wore black and green and had either bows or swords; some even had axes. The leader of the escort approached Dion, and they greeted each other. We all made a camp in the forest. The human party was hungry, and so were some of the elves. I climbed a tree and sat on a branch. I was lost in thought, so I didn't notice the elf in charge climb next to me. I registered his question: "What is your name, Kin?" I answered, "Aelthas Lightseeker." When I said my name, his eyes widened slightly . He looked at my bow, and his eyes widened further. I asked, "What is wrong, sir?" He immediately bowed his head. "I apologize, my lord. I didn't know that you were a Lightseeker." I looked at him with a puzzled expression, and he explained that the Lightseeker family was one of the most noble in the Elven Kingdom. They were among the last high elves, along with the royal family. They, along with many others, founded the Elven Kingdom more than two millennia ago. I was shocked. He explained that they thought all but one full-blooded Lightseeker was dead, which was the previous queen. She lived in the capital and was tutoring her grandson, the Crown Prince, on how to rule while the king was busy with the alliance with dwarves and humans. Just as he was about to continue, we all heard footsteps running toward us. One of the scouting elves immediately said to the elf in charge, "Sir, an army of skeletons is heading to our location. They number 500, with a skeleton commander." The elf in charge's eyes widened, and he leapt off the branch. I followed suit. All elf and human warriors grouped up; there were 200 of us combined. The situation was grim. Dion and the elf in charge began to talk. The elf in charge' s name was Aegor Silverwing. He was one of the best commanders in his generation. The plan was for a small group to flank the army and fire magic arrows to weaken the enemies, while the rest would meet the army head-on. I hardened my resolve, and we all prepared. I tightened my arm guards and noticed Princess Leona looking worried. I approached and smiled down at her. "Don't worry, my lady, we will win," I said. She hugged me tightly, and I felt her sob slightly. I patted her head gently; she reminded me of my little sister, Lea. I missed her. I thought of my eyes moistening and shook it off quickly. After consoling Leona , I left along with Dion and the elf in charge, while ten humans and elves remained to protect the princess. We all rode out on a hill overlooking the skeleton army. I dismounted my horse, and with a nod to Dion and Aegor, I notched an arrow with all my strength. Instead of wind magic , I began to feel a different magic. It was warm, and I brought it out and channeled it through the arrow, which began to glow bright golden. I raised it into the sky and let it fly. The arrow was a golden flash as it traveled straight into the skeleton army . The party that flanked the skeleton army began releasing their own arrows-some fire, some wind. As my arrow landed, a bright flash of light was released, causing the skeleton army to be vaporized. Aegor looked shocked while Dion was blinking rapidly; his jaw hung loose. The other soldiers charged down quickly, overcoming their shock. My attack destroyed around 300 of the skeletons. I climbed Nighstrider and rode along with the elves and knights. I put my bow on my back and unsheathed my sword. I began to slash and hack at the skeletons that were in my path . Only one skeleton commander was left; he was wearing full plate armor and riding an equally armored horse. His weapon of choice was a two- handed war hammer, which had runes on it. which were glowing sickly red. The Skeleton Commander roared as the runes' glow intensified. We all prepared for battle. Aegor and Dion joined me as we stood across from the Skeleton Commander.
