The Absolute Godspeed of Infinite Worlds

Chapter 256: [256] Show Off Some Muscle

Hagun Academy.

One of only seven institutions in Japan dedicated to training "Blazers" under the guidance of the League of Mage-Knight Nations.

Graduating from here guarantees a Mage-Knight license, allowing one to become a professional knight and shine on the world stage.

The academy spans nearly fifty hectares, nestled on a mountainside, featuring numerous academic buildings while also being enveloped by vast forests.

In addition, there are over a dozen colossal dome-shaped arenas, each capable of accommodating tens of thousands of spectators.

The Sixth Arena is one of them.

"Finally, we arrive at the sixth match of this afternoon! Both competitors are seeded players who have remained undefeated so far, earning their spots in the tournament!"

In the electrifying atmosphere of the arena, a bespectacled announcer girl raised her microphone, her passionate voice echoing through the speakers.

"Emerging from the red gate is third-year student Hagure Botan! As the younger twin sister, she's quite famous within the academy! The bullets fired from her pistol-type Device can freely alter their trajectory—truly a formidable ability!"

From the red gate emerged a beautiful girl with her black hair tied into a high ponytail with a blue ribbon.

Her youthful face brimmed with anticipation as she gazed at the opposing blue gate.

"And now, the competitor from the blue gate... Well, um, I'm sure everyone's been eagerly awaiting his appearance. Honestly, even I've been looking forward to it—that's just how popular he is! But unfortunately, as of now, this competitor still hasn't arrived in the preparation room... How heartbreaking!"

The blue gate stood silently, showing no signs of opening.

The competitor in question hadn't even shown up in the preparation room.

"Tch, he's really not coming again..."

"The outcome's already predictable."

"The Angel-sama hasn't shown up for over a month!"

A wave of disappointed jeers erupted from the audience. Not just students, but even many teachers couldn't help but sigh.

That's right.

The highly anticipated competitor—one of the seeded players in the selection tournament—had been absent from the arena for an entire month, leaving countless fans in despair.

Top tier of the spectator stands.

"Where on earth has junior brother gone?"

A stunning young woman with lustrous chestnut-brown hair tied into a long braid reaching her thighs stood there. Even in her standard student uniform, her natural beauty and graceful figure remained undeniable.

The strongest girl of Hagun Academy, also its student council president—Touka Toudou—wore a troubled expression on her refined face.

"Still not answering his phone?"

A voice as smooth as flowing golden sand reached her ears.

Her best friend, clad in an elegant white dress and holding a parasol, carried herself like a noble lady from a sheltered upbringing, not an inch of skin exposed. She asked calmly.

"No. No matter how many messages I send or calls I make, it's always the same—straight to voicemail."

Touka's mind was elsewhere, wholly preoccupied with thoughts of her junior brother.

They had just confirmed their romantic relationship. These should have been days of sweet intimacy, yet he had vanished for over a month. When she asked their senior sister, she only received vague replies. Left alone for so long, she had grown unbearably lonely.

Kanata remained silent.

Over this past month, she had contacted Eiji just as frequently as Touka, if not more.

But she couldn't let these feelings show—especially not in front of others, and especially not in front of Touka. She had to maintain the façade of indifference.

'Still, it seems Touka hasn't gotten ahead of me.'

Kanata secretly pumped her fist in her mind, a flicker of joy in her heart.

Had Eiji contacted Touka first upon his return but not her, she would've been crushed, feeling utterly defeated by her best friend.

Thankfully, neither had gained the upper hand—for now.

Touka had no idea what her best friend was secretly plotting.

Otherwise, their friendship would've been over right then and there.

Among the student council members, only the two of them had come today. The others were absent, and even Ikki Kurogane and his close friends—who usually had a good relationship with Eiji—were nowhere to be seen.

"Seems like there's some commotion?"

Touka's gaze shifted toward the blue gate.

A few startled cries seemed to be coming from that direction, making her frown.

Over the past month, this had happened over a dozen times—overzealous fans refusing to believe their Angel-sama wasn't in the preparation room, trying to force their way in, only to be thrown out.

Touka turned, intending to intervene.

On the stage.

The baby-faced Hagure Botan let out a dejected sigh, no longer holding out hope for the blue gate.

Reluctantly, she raised her hand, about to signal her forfeit to the referee.

"Eh? Eh eh eh?!"

But at that moment—

A sudden, ecstatic shriek erupted from the announcer's microphone.

"Breaking news! We've just received word—the blue gate competitor has entered the preparation room! He'll be stepping onto the stage any moment now! Everyone, let's hear your cheers!"

"WOOOOOH!!"

"NO WAY, FOR REAL?!"

The entire audience erupted into chaos.

"He's back?"

Touka froze mid-step, staring at the stage in disbelief.

"..."

Kanata said nothing, but her parasol tilted upward instantly, her emerald-green eyes locking onto the blue gate.

On the field.

With a hiss of compressed air, the blue gate slid open.

A tall figure emerged from the dimly lit passageway, as if bathed in starlight despite the darkness, drawing every eye in anticipation.

Then, the spotlight illuminated him.

"Perfect. Now this is a dramatic entrance."

Eiji nodded in satisfaction.

This was the kind of spectacle he liked.

With a composed smile, he stepped through the gate and onto the stage.

And so, the screams nearly tore the roof off.

"ANGEL-SAMA!!"

"Li'l Eiji, mommy loves you!!"

Talk about scarcity marketing.

And what was with these creepy "mommy fans"?

Suppressing the urge to facepalm, Eiji maintained his polite facade.

"Angel-sama, you've become even more captivating after a month away!"

Hagure Botan's eyes sparkled like stars, her face the picture of an obsessed fangirl.

No one knew she'd bought ten copies of his photobook!

Though her sister had stolen five of them later.

"Competitors, ready!"

The steel-masked referee issued the cold command.

Eiji raised his hand, summoning a dazzling silver longsword into his grip.

Flawless entrance.

I've gotten so much stronger—of course, I've gotta show off a little!

What's the point of gaining power if you don't flaunt it?

At the very least, he had to shed that "Fallen Angel" visual-kei nickname.

He even considered whether he should "accidentally" rip his shirt open mid-battle to show off his newly honed, perfectly sculpted muscles.

Sorry, girl across from me—unfortunately, you're about to become the canvas for my muscle showcase!

"Um, I forfeit!"

Hagure Botan raised her hand, tears of joy in her eyes as she declared her surrender to the referee.

"???"

Eiji's mind flooded with question marks.
