The Adaptive Quincy of Bleach

Chapter 45: The terrifying might of adaptation (45)

As the two clashed in the air, Sora threw a punch that missed—like badly. Shinji was to the left, and the punch was all the way to the right.

'He's still under the effect of Sakanade,' Shinji thought to himself. It seemed like the boy's body was reacting purely on instinct, while his mind was slowly yet steadily adapting to the whole thing.

Rushing toward the boy, the two clashed again, meeting sword for sword as if going band for band.

Sora opened his mouth and released a blast of Reishi at Shinji, who met the blast with his own Cero.

An explosion happened in the air. The clanging of blades echoed across the battlefield, and sparks flew in every direction.

Meanwhile, the other Vizards, currently relaxing on the floor, couldn't help but notice that Shinji was actually getting serious.

"That's weird, didn't Shinji activate Sakanade? Why does it still feel like a fair fight?" Mashiro asked.

Her eyes gazed at the battlefield above, her green hair waving in the wind.

Lisa glanced up. Something felt off.

"The hell do I know? The kid is quite adaptive," Kensei added, sounding like he usually did—basically, someone close to being angry.

That word... adaptive made something click in Lisa's mind.

"He's adapting," she said.

"Of course he is, Captain Obvious. It's called learning," Hiyori added, still salty about her loss to a 16-year-old.

"No, I mean literally. He's adapting to Shinji's inverted world."

That seemed to get their attention.

"Are you implying he adapts to stuff like Doomsday without the whole dying part?" Love asked, his eyes momentarily leaving the Superman comic book he was reading. The page he was on right now showed Doomsday beating the ever-living shit out of Superman.

"Yes," Lisa confirmed.

"So he cheated. If he didn't adapt to me, I would have 100% beaten that little shrimp," Hiyori said, cracking her knuckles.

"I want a rematch. I'm beating his ass this time," the violent chihuahua with a temper added.

"As far as I can tell, he didn't adapt to you," Lisa pointed out.

Hiyori's gaze turned into a glare.

"Are you implying I simply lost because he's stronger?"

"I wasn't implying anything," Lisa replied.

If Hiyori had any energy, she would have jumped up and beaten Lisa for those words that just left her mouth.

"The wheel above his head... I'm guessing every time it spins, he gains an adaptation. The wheel has currently spun twice," Rojuro added, setting his guitar aside.

"Wouldn't that mean he'll eventually become immune?" Mashiro asked innocently.

"The question now is how many spins it'll take," Lisa mused. Internally, she was annoyed—that whole arrow and color thing when I fought Sora was BS. The boy tricked me, and I'll get him for this eventually.

"I'd say four," Love said lazily.

Meanwhile, back on the battlefield—

As Sora and Shinji clashed again, Sora's wheel spun for the third time.

Sora felt his mind fully adapt to Sakanade's effects, treating the inverted directions as his new baseline.

He reached a state of mental clarity, probably close to post-nut clarity—only better. Though he wondered why he even knew what post-nut clarity felt like, considering he never really jacked off or had sex before.

He was probably guessing from what he'd heard about it.

Well, enough about that. TL;DR: Sora could now fight normally.

Rushing toward Shinji, the boy clashed against the Vizard once more.

"Hadō #4. Byakurai!"

As those words left Shinji's mouth, he launched what seemed to be a lightning strike at Sora, who dodged the attack with practiced ease.

As Sora reached Shinji, the wheel above his head spun again. He kicked Shinji away, and the man used the same skill again to slow his fall.

Shinji then rushed toward Sora, his blade clashing against Sora's own. The boy had a smile on his face.

Oh, he was having fun.

Once again, the wheel spun.

As Sora attacked Shinji, Shinji raised his blade to block the downward slash...

A wound appeared on Shinji's chest. His eyes widened. Instead of raising his sword, he had lowered it.

Wait, no... did his—

"You let your guard down. You thought my adaptation stopped after becoming immune to your attack," Sora said.

Shinji realized something.

"Your fifth adaptation helped you develop the ability to reflect the inverted spatial perception back onto me... didn't it?"

Sora's wheel spun again.

"Aren't you just smart?" Sora had a smile on his face.

Shinji frowned. The window between adaptations was getting shorter.

At first, it took a few minutes, but now it only seemed to take a few seconds.

"If you're wondering why the adaptation window is getting shorter, it's simple. The first couple of adaptations lay the groundwork. Once that's done, everything else comes in fast. After all, it's still your Reiatsu..."

As Shinji tried to undo his Shikai, he found himself unable to.

His connection with his blade had been severed—not like Sora had control over it, but more like he had lost the ability to use his Shikai or Bankai.

The blade no longer recognized him as its master.

The wheel spun again. As it did, Sora's blade became a carbon copy of Shinji's.

"Sakanade, was it?" Sora muttered.

"Collapse, Sakanade."

As those words left Sora's mouth, Shinji was now under the effect of his own blade.

"Scratch Doomsday, this guy is more like SCP-682," Love said upon witnessing the bullshit happening in the sky.

Shinji sighed a bit, smiling.

"Well, I lost," he said dryly.

Sora just smiled before his wheel vanished, and as soon as that happened, Shinji felt himself regain control of his blade once more.

He could once again use his Shikai.

"You have one terrifying ability, kid," Rose added, to which Sora smiled.

As his wheel vanished, his Reiatsu level returned to normal—about twice the same amount as a captain, so yes, normal.

He yawned a bit.

Taking out his notebook, he began to write down his adaptation.

Sora's Adaptation Notes

Initial Exposure and First Spin – Sensory Analysis

Reasoning: Sora's adaptation begins by analyzing the Reiatsu emitted by Sakanade. As Sakanade releases its effect, Sora uses his sensory awareness to identify the unique "frequency" of the inversion Reiatsu, which operates as a spatial manipulation field.

Mechanism: His body and Reishi control systems start recalibrating proprioception (awareness of body position and movement) to align with the inverted environment.

Second Spin – Reflexive Adaptation

Reasoning: After experiencing the inverted world for one spin, his adaptability integrates spatial inversion into his subconscious movements.

Mechanism: His Reishi-enhanced nervous system adjusts motor commands, allowing him to "auto-correct" his actions. His body reflexively compensates for the inverted directions, removing conscious disorientation.

Third Spin – Complete Recalibration

Reasoning: By the third exposure, his sensory and motor systems fully recalibrate to treat the inverted world as his new baseline. This adaptation stems from his inherent ability to rapidly process and integrate foreign spiritual phenomena.

Mechanism: Neural adaptation, coupled with Reishi-controlled sensory enhancement, makes the inversion irrelevant. He would now perceive the world in its normal orientation, neutralizing the disorienting effects entirely.

Fourth Spin – Immunity Enhancement

Reasoning: Having achieved baseline immunity, Sora now enhances his adaptation to affect the surrounding spiritual environment. By analyzing the Reiatsu signature sustaining Sakanade's ability, he begins to influence it using Reishi manipulation. And since he was a Quincy, no Shinigami was better at this than him.

Mechanism: Sora emits counteracting Reiatsu waves to "cancel out" the spatial inversion field around him. His Reiatsu disrupts the integrity of Sakanade's field within his immediate vicinity, further neutralizing its effects.

Fifth Spin – Reversal Reflection

Reasoning: Sora, having mastered immunity, develops the ability to reverse the effects of the inversion on Shinji or other people, though that was just a guess—a hypothesis more than anything. This is achieved through his mastery of manipulating spiritual fields and recalibrating Reishi frequencies.

Mechanism: By synchronizing his Reishi output with the inversion frequency, Sora creates a counterfield that reflects the inverted Reiatsu back onto its source. Shinji and anyone in the field are now affected by the inversion, while Sora remains unaffected.

Sixth Spin – Spatial Collapse

Reasoning: Sora, now fully immune and capable of manipulating Sakanade's field, begins destabilizing the spiritual structure of the inversion. He exploits the inherent instability of large-scale Reiatsu fields like Sakanade's.

Mechanism: Using Reishi infusion, Sora "overloads" the inversion field, causing localized spatial distortions. The field fragments, breaking apart in unpredictable ways, creating chaos that only Sora can navigate effectively.

Seventh Spin – Reishi Infusion Override

Reasoning: Sora's mastery of Sakanade's spiritual mechanics allows him to reprogram its Reiatsu signature. By injecting his own Reishi into the Zanpakutō's frequency, he overwrites the field's functionality.

Mechanism: Sora's Reishi bonds with the Reiatsu that sustains Sakanade's effect, altering its spiritual signature. The inversion field becomes a tool under Sora's control, with Shinji's Zanpakutō working against him.

This effectively neutralizes Sakanade as a viable weapon and weaponizes it against its user.

"Nice notes you got there. Mind letting me have a look?" Shinji asked, his gaze trying to find what Sora wrote.

"Testing some stuff. Also, no, you are not allowed to see my notes."

"Aw, come on! I explained my Shikai. Can't you let me have a tiny look?" Shinji said with a smile.

"Did I tell you to explain your ability?" Sora retorted.

"Touche," the Vizard replied.

"Sora..." Lisa's voice called.

"Yuh?" Sora replied with a smile.

"Your whole thing is adaptation, right?"

"Get to the point," Sora said when he realized she was trying to get something out of him.

"Let's say someone were to hit you with an ability that completely hypnotizes you. Given enough time, could you—"

"Yes... I could gain an immunity to it, and yes, I could take over that ability as long as I have more Reiatsu than the other person."

What was that look on their faces?

They were looking at him like he was a godsend gift... Something was off.

"Word of advice—when you meet Aizen, make sure to look directly at his sword," Shinji said with a smile.

Hiyori smacked the back of his head.

"Ouch," Shinji acted hurt, though Sora wondered why he would get such advice.

A/N....well the hollow won, but if we being honest, at the end of the day still my choice to write it or nah...might make the votes not count and write the Geto fullbring...hahaha, I have all the power. (jk)

Anyway, for any chapter coming out for any of my stories just know they were set to auto-update at specific times in advance, as for the Keitaro story not being updated, it's quiz week for me....I have been studying so yeah.....probably will have a chapter out soon though.

In the meantime, most likely next story is the hollow, so yay.

His name Gabriel Sanguinoso, probably became the king of Hueco Mundo.

His skin is dark.....I swear if when it comes out and I see a racist comment, remember you have 2 strikes...and then you get muted or blocked.
