Chapter 3: Chapter 003: John Wick
[T/N: In case you might get confused, mc's name has been changed from Charlotte Doyle to Charles Doyle as the previous name was kinda feminine.]
These recruited ninjas, when given the opportunity to fight, could truly manifest and become living beings in the Marvel world.
The world of anime converging with reality!
Apart from initially having one battle slot, opening each additional slot required the use of gold coins.
Over the course of three years, all the gold coins obtained from signing in had been invested into opening battle slots, ultimately resulting in just two more slots being unlocked.
The three manifested ninjas, including himself, could form a team of four.
As long as he had enough battle slots, he could even bring all the ninja characters into the Marvel world.
Manifested characters possessed their own intelligence, but they were completely loyal to the summoner
.
If they weren't completely loyal, Charles wouldn't dare to bring them into the real world. After all, some ninjas were capable of various tricky operations.
As for summoning techniques, he had currently only unlocked summoning the ninja dogs.
As for the later options like the snake, toad, or even tailed beasts... they made him feel envious, but he hadn't even maxed out his training with the ninja dogs.
However, that would change soon. With a bit of reputation, he could max out the training for the ninja dogs and unlock the summoning of the next creature, the blue snake.
After checking his personal information, Charles took a sip of his whisky and lay down on the bed, slowly falling asleep.
...
The next day-
After having breakfast at the hotel, Charles was sitting leisurely in the lobby. His secretary, Ms. Ginny, had been sent to his office.
At this moment, as Charles was sitting in the lobby, he saw a man with a suitcase making his way to the hotel front desk to check in. His steps were steady, but his expression was grave.
An aura of danger surrounded him; clearly, he had taken the lives of many the previous night. He seemed like a volcano about to erupt at any moment.
"Hey! John."
Charles extended a hand to greet him. He had met John more than once.
Thanks to his psychic dog, they had crossed paths several times while walking their dogs. They had exchanged contact information, and they could be considered acquaintances.
Furthermore, when John received his dog from his loved one, he had called him to ask about some tips on raising a dog. They were, to a certain extent, dog-loving friends.
Especially now, when John saw Charles greeting him in the hotel lobby, he was momentarily taken aback. He hadn't expected Charles to be a killer from the Continental Hotel.
It should be noted that, after his loved one left the world of assassins, he had left that life behind for four years. This meant he had almost lost touch with everyone from the Continental Hotel, and he wasn't quite sure about Charles's exact profession.
After a brief pause, he replied slowly, "Charles, I'm here to check in at the hotel."
Charles walked up to John Wick and stopped about a meter away from him. Then he said slowly, "It seems like you've run into trouble. Someone has put a two million dollar bounty on you. Do you need help?"
"All you need is a contract badge."
He knew that although this situation had caused some trouble for John Wick, he could easily help out and obtain a contract badge essentially for free, it would be a profitable deal for him.
Upon hearing that he now had a two-million-dollar bounty on his head, John Wick didn't pay much attention.
After all, he had realized last night, when he had dealt with the assassins who had come for him, that they wouldn't just give up.
They would definitely offer a reward for his elimination. So, he calmly responded, "Not needed for now. If there's a need, I'll contact you."
"Alright then, we'll be in touch."
Upon hearing John Wick's refusal, Charles didn't mind. John Wick had plenty of troubles, and things weren't always smooth for him. There would always be times when he needed help.
Besides, Charles could also intervene and help out voluntarily when things seemed dangerous, creating a sense of indebtedness.
Seeing Charles walk away, John Wick continued toward the hotel front desk. At this moment, a female assassin who had just finished checking in turned to John Wick and said, "Nice to see you again, John!"
"I feel the same way, Perkins!"
After exchanging greetings, John completed his check-in procedures and then left the hotel lobby.
Meanwhile, Charles continued to sit in the hotel lobby, slowly sipping his coffee.
The grand show was about to begin tonight!
...
Night fell.
In the underground bar of the Continental Hotel, Charles was now sitting in a booth not far from the entrance with Ginny, enjoying some bourbon whisky.
"Charles, the bounty on John Wick has gone up to 4 million dollars, and four gold coins. Are you sure you're not considering it?" Ginny whispered the latest information she had in Charles's ear.
Charles raised his index finger and shook it, indicating that he wasn't considering the mission. He then explained, "I have a better plan."
He held a positive view of this guy named John Wick. Although he was merely an "ordinary person," his strength was impressive, earning him the nickname "Night Devil" due to his decisiveness in taking lives.
If he could get him to help and join his side, it would be a significant boost to his early endeavors.
After all, while his three ninjas had decent strength, he was still short on manpower. He sometimes found himself constrained when trying to accomplish certain tasks.
While the two were conversing, the bar's entrance swung open, and John Wick entered.
Seeing him, Charles greeted him once again.
His voice reached John's ears.
"Hey! John."
Upon hearing Charles's voice, John saw the two individuals not far from the entrance and then scanned the bar, spotting Winston in a booth.
Subsequently, John walked up to Charles and greeted, "Good evening, Charles!"
Facing the approaching John, Charles said, "John, your price has doubled now—4 million plus four gold coins. Are you sure you don't need my help?"
"Some of the newcomers nowadays aren't playing by the rules."
Hearing Charles's words, John Wick's brows slightly furrowed. As a killer, offering to help someone typically meant that the other party needed his specific skills.
He had already left the world of assassins behind, and this time it seemed to be a personal matter rather than professional. He didn't want to get dragged back into this quagmire.
However, his bounty had doubled and now included four gold coins. This made John realize that the situation wasn't as simple as he had thought. Other assassins might try to cash in on the reward.
But considering his own abilities, he believed he could handle the situation and graciously declined Charles's offer, expressing that he could manage for the time being.
After that, John Wick left Charles's side and headed straight toward the booth where Winston was seated.
He had some matters to discuss with Winston, and he also needed to find out more about those troublemakers and their current whereabouts.
