Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Kasumi Utako sounds familiar.
After he was done flirting with Yukinoshita, Nanahara Yu drank the 120 yen of barley tea he bought and strolled along the campus of Sobu High School aimlessly.
The occasional breeze along the path has a faint scent of sweetness mixed in them as the petals of the cherry trees float in every corner of the campus, which were both healing to the eye and refreshing to the mind.
He enjoyed that scene for a few seconds until he turned on his mobile phone to check his LINE.
Although not many people had his contact information according to his memory, but checking his messages every few seconds was a habit he brought from his past life to this one.
Well, as expected there were not many messages on his LINE, with most of them coming from writer group alone.
It was a community Nanahara Yuu joined for people who wanted to chat about light novel writing and submission.
There were quite a lot of people in the community, about 800 people.
And according to his memory, they were basically all newcomers who were aiming to debut soon.
At the moment Nanahara Yu have not many things to say, only scrolling down the arguments of his group member.
He only joined this community at the beginning for information about major libraries, in case he might chose to debut in the future.
And since April is the hot period for submission in major libraries, the conversation in the community was also quite lively.
Finally Nanahara Yu asked:
"Has everyone already submitted their work?"
The reply came quickly.
"yup. The person you are speaking with right now is the future best selling light novelist. Muha muha muha ha ha ha ha."
"Ha ha, aren't we a Li'l bit too confident here boss? Would you send me some chips and coke then?"
"Which library did you guys submit to?"
"Kamihara-san I think you said you wanted to submitted to the Dengeki bunkou right? Do you still plan on that?"
"Come on, the Dengeki Bunkou Awards is the most difficult essay contest. I'm not very confident with the prospect."
"Is it true Kamihara-san?"
"I feel his chance of winning would be very small. I mean, how can someone from our small group win the Dengeki Bunkou?"
"Answer fast! @Kamihara-san. Answer fast!"
Nanahara Yuu, even from his past life has heard of this competition.
It was probably the most prestigious yearly competition along with the "Fujimi's Fantasia bunkou".
Their synonyms were "The hardest light novel competition to win, that also provide the highest fame rate", as it simultaneously provide a large number of high-quality light novel writers and IP content reserves for the light novel industry every year.
It was one of the very famous festival that he wished he'd participate at least once, although that small desire has never come into fruition.
For the Dengeki bunkou, the annual audition basically range from at least a few thousands to tens of thousands.
It has two rounds of screening elimination, with the final works that passed being branded as the Grand Award, Gold Award, Silver Award, and Special Award by the selection committee.
The probability of winning the award is, if you exaggerated it a little bit, one in a million.
Without a humongous size of audacity, it is one of the few things that you would basically never touched in your life.
Oh! It seemed that someone @ him.
He turned his attention back to the community, and what caught his eye was a long string of new messages:
"@Kamihara san"
"Future best seller, the group members are asking you to share your plan, speak fast."
It was a person with the ID name "Uzumaki Taikou" who asked that question with quite a bit of sarcasm.
Nanahara Yu didn't want to spend the small amount of energy he has arguing with a child, so he didn't reply to the sarcasm and just scrolled through the messages.
"It's really too difficult to get into Dengeki Bunko. The possibility of winning is almost Zero."
"Which library did Uzumaki san apply to?"
"I submit to Fujimi's fantasia bunkou."
"Kasumi Utako san what about you?."
"Heh, I thought Uzumaki san would apply to the Dengeki bunkou."
"As a newcomer, we should know our place. Unlike some people, who have zero self awareness I'm aiming a little lower you know?"
'How dare he?'
Uzumaki Taikou was quite elegant with his sarcasm.
Soon, various messages of ridicule and agreement were thrown in the group targetting him.
Nanahara Yuu frowned ever so slightly as a result.
This guy is becoming more and more arrogant as time passes isn't he?
He remember that the guy hold a grudge against him for a very petty reason.
It was related to a group member "Kasumi Utako".
Hmm... Now that he recall, have he heard of the name "Kasumi Utako" somewhere before?
The name isn't exactly a popular one... But where have he heard it?
Unfortunately, he couldn't recall about it at the moment.
The only thing he remember was that this "Kasumi Utako" person was a female member with whom he had a good friendship.
The two often exchanged ideas for their novel.
Uzumaki Taikou, whether he was jealous or something, started to target him because of that.
Probably because the man knew her first, but Nanahara Yu stole all her attention from him... It was all but a petty vandetta.
