The Billionaire and Secret Vow

Chapter 14: Chapter 14

The tension between them reached its peak. Dominic knew this was the moment to end everything—whether through victory or death.

Victor fixed a sharp gaze on Dominic, his sniper rifle aimed directly at his longtime enemy's head. "This time, I won't give you a second chance," he said coldly.

Unfazed by Victor's threat, Dominic narrowed his eyes, quickly assessing the situation. He understood how dire their circumstances were, but surrender was never an option.

Amelia, still hiding behind the rubble, glanced at Dominic, seeking his signal. She clutched a dagger tightly in her hand, ready to strike should the opportunity arise.

Dante gritted his teeth. "We have to act now, or we'll die here," he muttered to Dominic.

Before Dominic could respond, the deafening roar of an engine suddenly echoed from the distance. From the north, an armored combat vehicle sped toward them at full throttle—with Rebecca behind the wheel, determination written all over her face.

"Get in, NOW!" she shouted over the radio.

Victor briefly glanced toward the incoming vehicle. Seizing the distraction, Dominic swiftly pulled out his pistol and fired at Victor!

BOOM!

Victor instinctively dove to the side, narrowly avoiding a fatal shot, though the bullet grazed his shoulder. Before he could retaliate, Amelia struck. She darted from her cover and hurled her dagger with precision. The blade embedded itself in Victor's arm—the very one holding the rifle—forcing a cry of pain from his lips as the weapon clattered to the ground.

"Now!" Dominic yelled.

Wasting no time, his team sprinted toward Rebecca's vehicle, its rear doors already open. Marco and Dante fired behind them, suppressing Victor's men as they rushed forward.

Dominic was the last to jump in, slamming the door shut. "Drive!"

Rebecca floored the gas pedal, the vehicle speeding away from the battlefield—though not without its costs. Behind them, Victor sat on the ground, bloodied and furious, watching them escape.

Dominic cast a final glance back, his mind racing with the weight of his decision to retreat. His breathing was still ragged. Next to him, Amelia clutched a wound on her arm, blood trickling down from the shrapnel that had cut her earlier.

"We're not safe yet. This fight isn't over," Dominic murmured.

Dante scoffed, reloading his weapon. "Yeah, but at least we're still alive to finish it."

Rebecca spoke without taking her eyes off the road. "Before coming here, I managed to track Victor's plane. I know where he's headed."

Dominic's gaze hardened. "Then let's end this—once and for all."

The engine roared as Rebecca accelerated, carrying them away from the battle.

Victor was cunning—he wouldn't flee without a backup plan. They needed to stay ahead of him.

"Rebecca, where is Victor's plane headed?" Dominic asked, his eyes locked onto the small monitor on the dashboard.

Rebecca swiftly typed on the interface, tracking the last known coordinates of Victor's jet before it vanished from radar. "He's going to a hidden base in the Blackridge Mountains."

Dante cursed under his breath. "Damn. That place is a fortress—packed with mercenaries and fully stocked with weapons. If we're going after him, we better be prepared."

Dominic clenched his fists. "We have to destroy him before he regroups. If we don't, he'll return stronger, and when that happens, we won't get another chance."

Amelia lifted her head despite the pain. "We need to strike before he gathers his forces. But how? We're low on weapons and manpower, and we don't even know the layout of that place."

Rebecca smirked as if she had the answer to all their concerns. "I might know a way."

An hour later, they arrived at an old warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Rebecca knocked three times on the steel door, following a specific pattern—likely a code only a select few would recognize. Moments later, the door creaked open, revealing a bearded man with wary eyes who scrutinized them cautiously.

"We need your help, Saul," Rebecca said bluntly.

Saul's eyes scanned the group, suspicion flickering across his face before he let out a long sigh. "Come inside."

Inside, Dominic's eyes widened slightly. The warehouse was stacked with an arsenal—grenades, assault rifles, rocket launchers—everything they needed to take down Victor and his army.

"Take whatever you need," Saul finally said. "But remember, this isn't a suicide mission. Victor will be expecting you."

Dominic loaded his weapon calmly. "Good. Because I'm ready for war."

With their new supply of ammunition, they set off once more, bracing themselves for what lay ahead.

Three hours later, they arrived at the dense forests surrounding Blackridge Mountain. The bitter cold at the summit did nothing to deter their resolve.

Victor's base stood like a fortress in the heart of the mountain, towering walls and guard towers at every corner ensuring no one could enter undetected. Mercenaries patrolled the perimeter, weapons at the ready.

Hiding behind large boulders just outside the compound, Dominic and his team surveyed the enemy's movements, looking for an opening.

"We have one shot at this," Amelia whispered. "Once we're inside, they'll throw everything they have at us."

Dante adjusted his ammo belt. "Then let's make this fight one to remember."

From her position, Rebecca had already infiltrated the base's security system remotely. "Standby. Detonating in three… two… one…"

BOOM!

A massive explosion tore through one of the guard towers, sending shockwaves through the base. Alarms blared, and the entire compound erupted into chaos as soldiers scrambled to respond.

Dominic inhaled deeply. "Let's finish this."

They stormed the base, gunfire raining from all directions. Amelia and Marco took precise shots, dropping enemies one by one, while Dante hurled grenades at barricades, breaking their defenses.

Dominic charged ahead, his eyes scanning for one person—Victor.

Amidst the chaos, Victor's voice rang out over the loudspeakers.

"You really came here to die, Dominic," he sneered. "This time, there's no escape."

Dominic smirked. "We'll see about that."

Ahead, massive steel doors slid open, revealing Victor in a bulletproof vest, surrounded by elite guards armed to the teeth.

Victor raised his hand, signaling his men. "Kill them."

RATATATATA!

Gunfire erupted. Dominic dived for cover, returning fire as bullets whizzed past him. Amelia crouched, swiftly taking out two guards, while Dante and Marco launched smoke grenades for cover.

"Rebecca, we need another distraction!" Dominic shouted into his comms.

Rebecca, still outside the base, frantically hacked into Victor's defense systems. "Give me one more minute!"

"We don't have a minute!" Amelia snapped, reloading. "We're running out of ammo!"

Dante cursed as a bullet grazed his shoulder. "If this keeps up, we're dead!"

Victor chuckled darkly, watching from his position. "You always thought you could beat me, Dominic. But now, you've proven you're nothing but a fool who doesn't know when to quit."

Dominic clenched his jaw and fired at Victor. A guard jumped in front, taking the bullet straight to the chest.

Victor smirked. "Try again."

Suddenly— BOOM!

Another explosion rocked the base, plunging everything into darkness. Only the glow of fire and sparks from damaged circuits remained.

Rebecca's voice came through the comms. "I took down their defenses! But you need to act fast—I can't hold this for long!"

Dominic seized the moment. "Let's finish him."

They attacked at full force. Amelia shot down two more guards, Dante took out another with a blade to the throat, and Marco grabbed a fallen enemy's heavy artillery to suppress fire.

Victor's forces crumbled. Realizing his men were falling fast, Victor retreated.

Dominic didn't let him.

He tackled Victor, sending them both crashing to the floor in a brutal struggle. Punches landed hard, blood spilled, neither willing to back down.

Victor managed to grab his gun—but before he could fire, Amelia kicked it out of his hand.

Victor, bloodied and seething, glared at Dominic. "You think this is over?"

Dominic leveled his gun at Victor's head. "No. This is just the beginning."

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the base once again! The violent tremor cracked the walls, sending chunks of concrete raining down from the ceiling. Thick smoke and dust filled the air, making it even harder to see.

Dominic flinched and took a step back—just enough for Victor to kick him backward and roll away. In an instant, Victor drew a knife from his belt and lunged at Dominic once more!

Dominic blocked the attack with his left arm, but the sharp blade still managed to cut through his skin. He let out a pained grunt as the stinging sensation spread through his body. Gritting his teeth, he kicked Victor back, causing the man to stumble slightly.

"Dominic! We need to get out of here!" Amelia's voice rang out from beyond the thick smoke.

Meanwhile, Rebecca—still connected to the base's system—noticed something alarming on the monitor. "Oh no … Victor has activated the self-destruct system! This place will explode in three minutes!"

Dante cursed loudly. "Damn it! He really wants to take us all down with him!"

Victor burst into laughter despite his blood-soaked body. "If I'm going to die… then you're all coming with me!"
