The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!

Chapter 4: Shutdown

Bzt! Bzzt!

"Lola, what are you doing?! Did you even know Derek waited for you for hours?! How can you not show up!? Where are you right now? You need to come home now!"

"Your sister is getting engaged, and this is what you're doing!? Come home right now, or you'll be in trouble, young lady!"

"Lola, I know you liked Derek for a long time. But we're already getting engaged. If you're still angry about the past, then just say so. You didn't have to give us and Derek a hard time."

Lola stood before the floor-to-ceiling glass of the penthouse, staring out at the city lights. She listened to the voicemail left by her family. After hearing Melissa's voicemail, she had the urge to tease her and tell her that she couldn't let go of Derek. But Lola didn't have time for such a bother anymore.

"Five years… I'm almost surprised that nothing changed," she whispered. "Or rather… two lifetimes, and nothing changed."

In her first life, Lola had fallen into a trap and was left crippled five years ago. She would eventually die five years later. Thankfully, Lola was blessed with another chance in life on her fourteenth birthday.

How did it happen? She had no idea.

But since then, she had been trying her best to build a life of her own. It wasn't easy, especially since she was trapped in the Young Household. And when she moved out, life was just as harsh. She got pregnant out of nowhere, and when she finally came to love and care for the life in her, the world had taken the baby from her.

Despite that, she turned her grief into a betterment of herself. To turn her life around just so she wouldn't have to take her last breath… this same year.

Lola closed her eyes and shook her head. Then, suddenly, an adorable voice rang from behind her.

"Mommy, we're done~!"

Her brows rose as she looked back, catching the adorable twins standing in their new pajamas. Their hair was still drenched, looking up at her adorably.

Lola's heart softened at the sight of them, smiling.

"Your hair is still drenched," she muttered as she marched toward them, holding out her hands. "Come, let's dry your hair first, okay?"

Second, especially Chacha, beamed. They happily held her pinky, sitting down on the big couch. Since they dropped by the mall before coming home, Lola took everything she thought the twins needed. Their father told her he would pick them up in three days, so she only took what they would need for the next five days, in case something happened.

With that, Lola dried their hair.

Seated on the couch, Second stood in front of her and let her dry his hair.

"Me too! Me too!" Chacha raised a hand excitedly. "I want Mommy to dry my hair too! And I want Mommy to brush my hair too!"

"I'm not—"

"Mommy, brush my hair too!" Second chimed in before Lola could correct them.

"..." Lola pressed her lips and then nodded. "One at a time, okay? Chacha, let's dry your hair first."

Chacha excitedly pushed her brother to the side to stand in front of her. Lola chuckled as she picked up the small towel and dried her hair. Chacha's smiling face relaxed, her cheeks blushing.

Lola, on the other hand, studied her adorable face and couldn't help but chuckle. She glanced at Second, who was now seated beside her. Second studied his sister's face, beaming brightly as if he was happy for her.

Such adorable children, she thought, and then sighed a bit. For sure, their father had money to be sending out millions to a stranger on a whim.

Which only made Lola curious whose family these two had come from. They just appeared out of nowhere, and when she called their father, he just gave her custody for the next three days.

"Mommy, my turn…" Second muttered, snapping out of Lola's train of thought.

"Oh." Lola cleared her throat and faced Chacha. "Chacha, it's your brother's turn again, alright?"

"Okay~!"

With that, Chacha jumped to her side, and Second stood in front of her. Just like Chacha, she brushed his short hair gently. The little girl watched eagerly.

So cute… Lola thought.

Once she finished with Second, Lola thought of pampering them more. Taking the cologne and powder she got from the mall, she gave them some baby powder and cologne, and the twins happily let her pamper them even more until they smelled as sweet as candies.

****

Taking care of kids on her arrival in the country was never in Lola's plans. But thinking about it, it didn't feel as bad at all. Second and Chacha were very well-behaved and sweet.

"Oh!" Second perked up as Lola was arranging the hair brush and everything she used on them. "Chacha, it's almost nine in the evening."

Chacha blinked, looking around until her round eyes landed on the wall clock. It was one minute before nine.

Lola, on the other hand, furrowed her brows at the twins. "Kids, what's going on?"

The twins turned to her and beamed.

"Good night, Mommy!" Second waved at her, and Chacha's smile stretched. "Nanayt, Mommy. See you tomorrow~!"

With that, the twins just strode off to the bedroom without looking back.

"Wait —" Confused, Lola opened and closed her mouth.

Just now, the twins were eager for her attention. But now, they just walked off after telling her goodnight. They didn't even look back!

"They're going to sleep now?" she wondered, checking the time and then the direction where the twins went. "They can't sleep so easily, right?"

There was no way they could just sleep once the time hit nine. They didn't even show any sign of sleep, not even a yawn.

But all that changed when Lola followed them and checked the room.

There, inside, Chacha and Second were already fast asleep on the king-sized bed. Second had his arms and legs spread wide, while Chacha's position was a bit strange, like she had fallen from a ten-story building.

"Huh?" Lola blinked in disbelief, staring at the kids sleeping so deeply on the bed. "It's not even a minute since they said goodnight…"

Out of pure curiosity, Lola tiptoed her way to the bed to check them. She poked Second's shoulder, but nothing. Then, she fixed Chacha's leg, but she was still fast asleep.

"How?" she wondered, her brows knitting. "It's like… they just shut down."

No tossing and turning or anything like that. Even adults couldn't sleep so easily like this. At least, there should be some signs of sleepiness.

For a moment, Lola darted her eyes between the two before a short chuckle escaped her.

"Gosh… they're a bit weird, but also very cute," she whispered, tucking them in. "Goodnight, kids."

Her eyes softened until she caught herself. Lola shook her head and slapped herself.

"Don't get too attached," she whispered. "Their father is going to pick them up in three days. Don't set yourself up for a heartbreak."

Lola huffed and smacked her lips, looking at the twins again. She pushed herself away, but after taking three steps, she heard Chacha whispering,

"Mom… my…"

Lola looked back, catching Chacha just talking in her sleep.

"Chacha and Second have a mommy too…" Chacha murmured, and Lola's heart skipped a beat. "... and she brushes our hair too."
