The Birth of A Volleyball Legend

Chapter 419: The Game Begins! The Horror of Yuki's Serve! (II)

"HELL YEAH!"

"WE FINALLY KILL THAT BASTARD!"

"Good job, Yuki! You've done avenging us!"

"Keep it up! Don't let this chance slide!"

While all the players on the Tsunemori's side went frenzy, the opposite could be said for Kikugawa High. They all went depressed after they failed to stop the serve three times in a row. Moreover, the fact that their two newcomers were targeted by Yuki was like the salt being added to the wound. They couldn't help but look at Kaito worryingly, afraid that the boy would be affected by this.

It was clear, though, that they didn't know their kouhai at all.

"Hey, Senpai, why are you all looking so depressed?! No one died yet, right?" The boy asked confusedly, making some of them choke speechlessly. "Come on, Senpai! We have already expected something like that to happen! Hell, even Sensei said that the worst-case scenario is losing six points in a row, right?"

Even though they all knew that it was true, that didn't mean they were less speechless than before. Hell, some of them even had their mouth twitching, getting annoyed at themselves for worrying over nothing.

However, they all knew that Kaito was right. Their coach, Arisawa Junya had already expected that they would lose a few points from Yuki's serve in the early game. Their task was to adapt as quickly as possible so that they could cut off the loss as soon as possible. They just didn't expect Yuki to target Yusuke and Kaito so viciously.

"So, what should we do now?" Ao, the team's middle blocker asked.

Suzuki pondered for a while before making a decision. "We will do it as usual. Yusuke, you move as quickly as possible to cover Kaito's position. But this time, Morita, you also move aside to cover Yusuke's original position. We will try our best to cut off the loss before we bleed too much."

"Hey, that is a good idea, Captain!" Kaito sent a thumbs-up. "Maybe, this time, we will not embarrass ourselves too much!"

A thick vein popped on Suzuki's temple as he heard that. 'Doesn't he notice that our embarrassing side is because we are trying to cover his ass all the time?!' He thought inwardly. Still, he knew getting infuriated by his kouhai would be no use, especially when he knew that the boy was just brutally honest for his own good.

"Okay, since you all agree to this approach, let's do it! The sooner we can get out of this situation the better! Let's show why Kikugawa High deserves to be in this stage too, okay?!"

"Yes, Sir!"

After that, everyone went back to their position to get ready for the next play. This time, Morita, a bald boy with a headband who was acting as the team's defensive specialist shifted his body aside so that he could launch himself to cover Yusuke's position when the ball was launched.

This was proven to be useful as in the next turn, the ball went back to Yusuke's original position. Morita gritted his teeth as he dived forward, trying to reach the ball before it went far out of his reach. Unfortunately, the ball slipped through his hand and just bruised his forearms before bouncing far outside of the court, resulting in another point for Tsunemori High.

BAM!

"OH! AGAIN!"

"Come on, Yuki! Just kill them all!"

Morita got up from the floor immediately, not bothered by the cheers their opponent received from the crowd. He raised one of his hands up to stop his teammates from approaching him before apologizing quickly, "Sorry, that was my bad. My reaction is not quick enough to get the ball."

"Eh, don't fret over it, Senpai!" Kaito waved the apology nonchalantly. "This is your first time receiving his serve, if you can do it perfectly, you will be the best defensive player in Tokyo by now!"

Morita was stunned, then chuckled wryly by Kaito's nonchalant words. 'Kaito is right. There is no single defensive player in Tokyo who has never suffered from Kobayashi's devil serve. If I can deal with it on my first attempt, I will definitely be the best defensive player in this prefecture.' He mused. However, that didn't mean he accepted this defeat. If anything, Morita's spirit burned more as he was determined to stop the next attack.

Unfortunately, he didn't notice Yuki was raising his eyebrows slightly at him.

'Ho… Interesting…' Yuki muttered to himself. 'He is indeed Kikugawa High's defensive specialist. It will not be easy to break his mentality.' He nodded a little, appreciating his opponent. 'Still, with him covering Yusuke's original position, this would make it easy for me to destroy their defensive position.'

After all, the more movement created by the opponent during the serve, the easier it would be for Yuki to find an open space to be his target. Just like right now, he only needed to repeat his early trick, where he would send the ball to Morita's original position to catch the defensive specialist off guard. Even though he had already done the same before, Yuki was still confident he could pull it again since the victim would be a different player this time.

As if the universe was trying to support his idea, right after he tossed the ball, Yuki could see Morita rushing to cover Yusuke's original position. This left the spot in the bottom left of Kikugawa's side open, which was easy for Yuki to target next.

BAM!

Just as he expected, the ball pierced through the opponent's defense and fell into the exact spot he was intending to be. M Morita had his mouth gaped wide when he saw the ball was going to his original position. Unfortunately, he could only watch as the ball fell without him being able to do anything, which resulted in another point for Tsunemori High.

"Oh! Come on!" Yuki clenched his fist, celebrating another one of his successful serves.

The momentum was pretty much on his side by this point, and he wanted to take advantage of it as much as he could. Just when his opponent was confused about what he was going to do next, Yuki pulled the unexpected by throwing a gentle floater serve to the front side of Kikugawa High's court. Their captain who didn't expect that the ball would go in his direction was startled and unable to react properly. As a result, although he managed to touch the ball, it slipped from his forearms and fell just close to the sideline, resulting in the fifth point in a row for Tsunemori and Yuki.

Tsunemori High 5 – 0 Kikugawa High
